ATTN: All Sector Rangers Employees

This thread will serve the purpose of replacing the typical "Mission Board" with a sort of case file tracker. We will continue to use the main faction thread for general faction discussion and hanging out. This space will be a centralized location to keep running tabs on any official investigation opened by a Ranger, to include lists of suspects, evidence collected against said suspects, possible leads to follow up on, links to related threads, and a brief summary of the case to be updated as things progress. Individual Rangers will be responsible for posting in this thread any new investigations they open, posting updates on their progress, and posting any leads on possible crimes, sources of information, witnesses, etc, for other Rangers to follow up on. I will be responsible for continuing to update this opening post to track everyone's progress and keep everything consolidated and organized.

To open a new case, you need a crime and a justification for why that crime merits investigation by the Sector Rangers. Once a case is opened I will add it to the list of active cases and assign the Ranger opening it as the "Lead Investigator". After this it will be the responsibility of the Lead to keep things moving along with the case, but any Ranger can contribute to a case or offer assistance by contacting the Lead Investigator.

NEW: If you guys have a one-off thread and make an arrest or do any significant Ranger related work AND another PC (friendly or enemy) was heavily involved, let me know and I'll include a summary as a completed case file.

Tips and Leads:

• Czerka CEO Voren Makr and Chancellor Charon Chanzot are available for witness interview, as well as others present.
• The wreckage of the Chancellors shuttle is available for inspection
• A body has been discovered near the blast site, cause of death is an apparent suicide. Timing is suspicious.

Case Summary:

A bombing attack on the Grand Cafe in the public Rotunda on Chandrilla has killed the husband of Chancellor Chanzot and many others. The Chancellor and her husband were dining with Voren Makr, CEO of the Czerka Corporation, at the time of the attack. The blast consisted of a primary and secondary explosions originating from KDY marked shipping containers attached to the hull of the Chancellors shuttle.​

The Holonet Broadcasting Company in Republic space was recently breached by an unknown group or individual and broadcast anti-Jedi/Border alliance propaganda.​

I think we could once their thread finishes or gets further along- hard to investigate a crime when its still in progress. Remember, we have to work with others to investigate, so make sure you contact the thread participants and make your intentions clear. From there, start doing some work looking for witnesses, electronic logs or video or whatever else you can think of and post some updates here.

Looks like we've got some major spice trade stuff going down and word on the street is major players are getting involved.

Another possible case is the recent high profile disruption of all galactic holonet traffic with a propaganda broadcast.

And my third and final possible case for the night is the very high profile bombing on Chandrila, and OOCly this one reeks of corporate corruption. If you ask me, the Czerka corporation is gonna be the biggest thorn in our side, and the best enemy we can face. This obviously being the follow up to Dinner and a Show, as mentioned earlier.

Alright, after looking at the stuff Benny and Ender have linked, I think we've got three solid starter cases.

Case 1: The Chandrilla Bombing. The Chancellors husband has died in an apparent terrorist bombing that was possibly targeting the chancellor herself. This is the sort of high profile case that the Rangers were made for. We have a major crime scene here on Chandrilla- that's where we should start.

Case 2: Enemy Propaganda. Hacking the Republic's holonet system to broadcast terroristic threats is a serious offense, and major cyber crime crossing system boundaries is in the Rangers jurisdiction. Our best bet is to track down and send a tech over to the holonet broadcast stations headquarters and start figuring out how this could have happened and develop a suspect.

Case 3: The Spice trade. Low level dealers aren't really our problem, but the big time movers and shakers are. This will be a big time, long running case I think. It'll take a lot of footwork to develop leads and suspects, and will require the gathering of a lot of evidence, witnesses and informants to make any eventual charges stick. We're in this one for the long haul.


I'd like to take lead on the Chandrilla bombing given how high profile it is, if nobody minds, though I may need a partner. As for the other two, who wants to call dibs?

I am happy to throw Voren in, potentially being interviewed ''What did you see?'' sort of thing, as I am pretty sure that is what would happen in such an event like this, interview the suspected targets.

Sounds good on both counts! I'll set up case files for all three (we may also have Crim's noir investigation soon too) and set something up for us to move forward with on the Chandrilla bombing. The other two cases will stay pending a lead investigator until more people get to chime in.

I think you guys would make a good pair for tackling that case. It's going to take a lot more footwork than the others I think, and will be much longer term and more involved. I'll finish putting together a case file for it when I get a chance, or if one of you beats me to it PM me and I'll paste it in.
