Sector Rangers

Sorry for the double post, but I finally got my character up. Anyone got any threads going yet? My posting speed is going to be sort of slow still, but I'd like to get something going in the near future.

Also, he looks awesome! Can't wait to perhaps RP with him

As I get more time (and it looks like I might be stuck here for an extra couple days due to weather) I'll work on prettying up the opener and making the layout look nice and I'll send it to you to edit the main post. It'll probably be like this for awhile as we tag team different parts of this, but that's ok.

And thanks guys! Can't wait to actually get something going.

As you've probably noticed, I've put up a couple of threads last night and this morning. The first over in the missions board will serve to keep track of both our ongoing and completed investigations. The other over in the Story OOC will serve to interact more directly with the general public and hopefully generate leads for new cases. This thread we'll continue to use for general discussion. I'll work on enhancing our writeup soon.

So like @Loco @Mr.BossMan what happens if we capture someone and inprison them? Like do they no longer use that character and how long do they stay in prison? Also can they maybe plan on prison breaks? Hopefully I'm not asking to many questions just curious as to what happens?

It's kind of a big thing. Like, is there a trial, who runs the trial? Who decided the prison sentence, and can the Rangers imprison people, or indeed can they over ride a sovereign nations laws?

They operate Under republic laws which over ride system laws (like federal vs state laws) because the sector rangers takes on federal cases they have jurisdiction pretty much everywhere in the republic and sometimes out of it when pursuing suspects beyond its borders. Therefore I'm thinking a traditional trial with a jury and judge. The rangers have their own attorneys.

The Rangers simply investigate and apprehend suspects. Once suspects are caught they are then tried by a prosecutor. All of this happens IC.

A Ranger can testify against a criminal, but they themselves to do not try them. The "Administration" branch of the Sector Rangers is who convicts these criminals and sends them to prison.

Apprehend and prosecute, which is typically the way things go (source: I work for homeland security)

Yes. I am fairly certain, but I will have to double check with @Loco

But basically the Sector Rangers are split up into two "branches" Administration and Operations. Rangers fall under operations, and a Rangers primary goal is to investigate criminals, interview witnesses, and apprehend these criminals. Once a criminal is apprehended he is sent to trial. That is when an "Administrator" steps in and takes over. The administrator then prosecutes the criminal and hopefully sends them to prison.

To do this in character we rely heavily on those who NPC for us.

This is my understanding but I may be wrong..
