Nouane was the capital planet of the Allied Region of Nouane. At the time of the Old Republic, this territory was semi-independent and lived peacefully with. The Galactic Empire, doing what it does best, had subjugated the government and destroyed its independence. With the collapse of this dictatorial power, the Nouanese were once again free.

And free they remained until this day and hopefully forever.

It was a beautiful story, but things nowadays weren’t nice in Nouane. Apparently some nasty pirates were pressuring the government, while threatening the locals. Since it’s close to planets allied to the Jedi, the local government decided to ask the Order to help.

This was the reason why Aranmir was now in a ship landing in a spaceport of the capital city of Nouana. With him was Jedi Knight Zana Ryks, who was responsible for leading this operation. It was the first time that he was working with her, having met her only when they were at the Temple of Fiana.

He wondered how she would be in the field. Perhaps with her help, they could even convince Nouane to support the Jedi.

Zana had never heard of the planet before, but that didn't make it any less important that they put their best foot forward. Answering the call for help, the Jedi could hopefully both quell the dangerous threat and ensure that the local inhabitants were safe and prosperous.

If they then chose to befriend the Order afterwards? Well, that would be a bonus.

Armed with her trusty lightsaber and quick wit, the knight was joined by a padawan she had only a brief encounter with. With a smile, she handed him a cup of caf before taking a sip from her own as they stood idly by, waiting for the ship's ramp to lower. "It's black, hope that's okay." She warmly spoke, unsure of what his usual preferences were.

The information they had was that a band of pirates had been harassing the settlements in increasingly daring raids. What started as a small prod had ballooned into ransoming, plunder and flagrant destruction. Based on the pattern, it was expected that the pirates would be back sometime that morning to collect a "protection" payment, and they would be there to stop them.

"So Padawan, do you have much experience in a fight? I'd expect these lads won't be exactly a chatty type, but I've been wrong before." She said with a chuckle. Who really knew these days, really.

Thanks.” Aranmir smiled, while accepting the cup that Zana had offered to him. He looked at the black caf, unsure if he should drink it. The thing pure as it was wasn’t his favorite beverage, preferring with milk. However, he wasn’t going to say it. She had all the work to make some for it, this wouldn’t be nice.

The Padawan slowly sipped the caf while they reviewed the mission. The pirates were coming to collect their “protection payment”, a fancy name that they gave for extortion. If it wasn’t paid, the criminals would cause destruction across the towns. It was really a terrible situation. Their mission was simple, they needed to bring an end to it.

Well, I fought against a cannibal cultist before. I think that pirates aren’t going to be worse.” Aranmir said, before drinking some more of the caf. “The cannibal talked too much, though.” and in the end it was what allowed him to beat the guy. That mission was a nightmare fuel, but at least he survived.

Do you have a plan?” he asked, while the ramp finally descended. “Are we going to ambush them? Or a direct attack would be more efficient?” Aranmir hoped that Zana would be more organized with her ideas than the Knights with whom he had worked before.

The togruta nodded along, listening to Aranmir's story with interest. "Of course, I have a plan." She mused with a silly smile while stepping away, expecting him to follow. Their short journey would lead them away from the starship and toward a few commercial buildings, several of which bore the tell-tale signs of a previous struggle.

Popping inside, the jedi would find a Chagrian shop keep haggardly moving about nervously, in fact almost getting a fright from their own entrance. "Oh, thank goodness you made it, I was getting worried." He started to speak in a panic. "I've spoken to the others, and they will take to hiding as you asked, but please be careful, this is my livelihood here." He waved his hands around the store.

Zana glanced around, spotting several points for tactical advantage before they arrived and now inside, but this wasn't entirely her mission, and she was interested to see what Aranmir had on his mind. Turning to the Padawan as the shopkeeper left briefly, she asked. "Assuming five assailants with ranged and melee weapons who will turn immediately aggressive approach. Is it better to engage them outside in the open or in a closed space?"

She waited to see his response before she'd explain her reasonings.

Aranmir wasn’t sure if he should feel relieved by knowing that she had a plan or if he should be concerned. The Padawan had learned that there were great chances of things going astray during these missions, with a plan or not. Hopefully this wasn’t going to be the case.

He quickly finished the caf and followed Zana outside of the ship. Aranmir saw how some of the buildings around them were damaged by blasters, while some were even burned. These were without any doubt damaged left by the pirates. “I hate how some people do things like that to others. They don’t care if someone will get hurt or spend years gathering resources to open a shop, they only want money.” the Tiefling said with disgust, while they passed near an abandoned store that had its windows completely destroyed.

The Tiefling felt pity for the reaction of the Chagrian when they entered his store, he was obviously afraid. “Don’t fear, sir. We are going to be careful.” he smiled, trying to comfort the guy. However, he felt as if it didn’t work, the shopkeeper still seemed afraid of what could happen.

Zana’s question made Aranmir stop and think of a possible answer. “I believe that inside would be better. They would not risk using ranged weapons, leaving them with the melee ones. Then we could use a lightsaber to disarm them.
