Location: Arkania

Scenario: An Imperial taskforce has been collected for the invasion of the Republic world of Arkania. The mission is to be completed with the utmost secrecy, therefore a Stormtrooper Recon Company, disguised as Republic soldiers, has been dispatched to Adascopolis to capture the enemy com center, thereby eliminating the garrison's ability to call for aid. Senior Commander Kaiden Meridias has been tasked with leading the mission and upon his earnest request, Commander Darcien Meridias was chosen to act as his second-in-command. Aiwha Company has been provided with enough ordinance to complete the mission. They have been dropped off on the outskirts of the city.

Objective: To make their way through the city to the com center, capture it, and hold it until the Imperial armada arrives.

Kaiden orders his men to take out the combat patrol take their comms and insignia's and wait outside for them to be relieved this will be the most effective and easy way to enter it will take patience and stealth but he knows his men will be capable. Kaiden and three of his men wait for the nearest of the patrols to arrive and jams their comms and they fire a series of short bursts into them eliminating them.
"Gather their comms," He said calmly," Daricien I hoped you memorized this patrol's route they will be relieved in 10 Minutes and we don't want to blow our cover due to a stupid mistake.

Darcien nods as he receives his brother's transmission. He activates his helmet's built-in comlink and directs Kaiden.

"You'll continue along the alley, which will take you to the center of the city. Then take a left at the end of the alley. Then continue on for two hundred meters and the comm center should be on your right. The comm center's exterior defenses include two AA batteries and four automated turrets. There are two MAT54s stationed outside and the guard is comprised of two companies of Republic infantry. Meet ya there!"

He double-checks his ER40, then motions for his squad to follow him. He boldly makes his way into the street and proceeds to lead his squad to the rendevouz, certain that his uniform will avert any suspicious gazes.

He does just as Darcien says and walks through the front door. He and his squad advance to security so he can hack into the system and turn off all the auto turrets and defenses. Him and his squad enter and fire at the technicians before they can call for aid. He then precedes to deactivate all the auto turrets. "Darcien send the signal to the squads we have successfully turned off security prepare to do stage two." He says in a calm tone. He orders three of his men to stay while the other 2 come with him to the CC were he meets up with a full squad of Aiwha Company they join up and run to the CC killing and capturing all the Republic guards and Officers before they can react. He sends the signal to the Imperial Armada saying the CC is ours. "Darcien Commence Stage Two," he says with a grin.

Darcien pauses outside as he orders his men to enter the CC and prepare to seal the doors.

"All squads, this is Commander Darcien, the CC has been secured, proceed to the rendevouz with all haste and prepare to set up a defensive perimeter."

At a cry of "Incoming!", Darcien leapt aside. He'd forgotten about the tanks! He inwardly cursed himself, then rose from where he had landed and dashed for cover. He grabbed a grenade from his bandolier and tossed it over his shoulder at the approaching tank. As the grenade exploded, he dove behind a nearby stack of crates. He paused for a moment to catch his breath. He glanced around the crates and saw that the tanks were still advancing. He heard a high-pitched whistling sound and a split-second later the closest tank erupted in a ball of fire. The other tank then turned to engage the newly arrived combatants. As it opened fire, Darcien sprang forward and clambered onto the tank. He ripped open the hatch and dropped a grenade in, then nimbly leapt to the ground and rolled to his feet. He dove for cover as the tank exploded. He placed several mines outside the building, then bounded up the steps to the center's entrance and took his place behind an upturned desk.

----Ten Minutes Later----

As the last squad entered the building, Darcien ordered his men to seal the door and barricade it with whatever was lying around. He then contacted his brother.

"A perimeter has been established and all squads are in position, the tanks have been neutralized. Awaiting further orders."

"Copy Loud and clear we made enough noise so that all Republic scum outside heard us," He announced." DARCIEN GET TO SECURITY TURN ON THE DEFENSES I will be with my men and we will dig in and fight." He draws his blaster rifle and goes to join and coordinate the fight with his brother in security. The Republic reinforcements arrive, and he orders his men to open fire, he has ordered three defensive perimiters one at the gate the second at security the final at the CC itself. He takes aim and begins to defend with his men.

In a tone of consternation, Darcien responds "Copy that." and proceeds to make his way to the security room. As he enters the room, he is taken aback at the scene before him. He gasps in horror at the bodies of the Republic technicians. He kneels down and examines one of them, muttering to himself, "They were unarmed..." He rises to his feet and strides over to the main console.

"Sergeant Lorenz!" A muscular, middle-aged veteran steps forward. "Yes, sir?" Darcien gestures towards the console. "Slice through security and reprogram those turrets to target the Republic forces." "Right away sir!" The man takes his place at the console and begins to carry out his orders as Darcien watches over his shoulder in silent fascination. Darcien then turns and fixes his attention on one of the holoscreens. "Hurry up Sergeant! Our men are becoming hard-pressed." The old veteran grunts in acknowledgement and after a few seconds, turns and faces Darcien. "Turrets online sir." Darcien nods and pats the man on the shoulder. "Good, now take the squad to the entrance and prepare to cover my brother's retreat. I will remain here and monitor the progress of the battle." Darcien took a seat at one of the consoles as the men rushed to carry out his orders. He then activated his comlink and contacted Kaiden.

"The armada is enroute. ETA, ninety minutes."

"Acknowledged," He said to Darcien,"What is wrong you sound strange?" He Yells at his men," Hold out for a little longer the armada will be here in 90 Minutes." He fires a rapid burst and takes out his energy cell and replaces it for another. Kaiden receives a laser bolt to his hand he Yells drops his rifle and draws his pistol and begins to fire with it.

He soon realizes that he is running low on front line troops he withdraws to the corridor near security and uses the rooms and crates to hide men behind. He orders his front line troops to be replaced with the fresher second line and for said first line to retreat to the third line of defense and get some rest.

"Nothing. I advise that you fall back to the comm center, lives will only be needlessly wasted at the gate. Besides, I have a little surprise for the bastards." Darcien rises from his seat and makes his way to the armory. He glances at the assortment of weapons, then goes to grab an ESR9, but changes his mind and takes the Kraig M88 MLRS/AT instead. He quickly loads the rockets and then heaves it onto his shoulder.

Darcien quickly proceeds to the main entrance where his squad is providing cover fire with sniper rifles. Noticing that there is a thick cluster of Republic soldiers gathered at the gate, he takes aim with the launcher and pulls the trigger. The force is enough to make him rock on his feet. A missile spurts from the launcher and with pinpoint accuracy, explodes in the midst of the enemy, killing at least a score and severely wounding others. Darcien throws down the missile launcher and exchanges it for his ER40. He commences to open fire on the approaching enemy soldiers, who are mown down like grass.

"Darcien Take care of things here my hand is really starting to ache." I will join up with you in the third line. He instructs his men to take orders from Darcien and then makes a run to the third line pulls up the footage of the battle and prepares to give orders to his brother from the CC. A medic patches up his hand and also pulls out something from his stomach he did not realize he had a piece of shrapnel in it he immediately felt sick but controlled it and stares attentively at the screen ready to pull out Daricien when things got hairy.

Darcien nodded as he received his orders, then turned to Sergeant Lorenz, who was crouching behind a pile of rubble nearby.

"Sergeant! Order our men to fall back and regroup here. We should be able to hold out until the taskforce arrives, but if not...we'll give 'em Hell." The sergeant carried out his instructions accordingly and a few moments later, the detached squads were falling back to the comm center, stubbornly contesting every foot of the way. Darcien stepped forward, covered by his squad, and commenced to open fire on the advancing enemy troops. At a cry of "Grenade!", he dove aside, but the grenade rolled into the compound and would have exploded, had not Sergeant Lorenz threw himself onto the grenade a split-second before it exploded. The force of the explosion hurled the sergeant across the room and knocked the others to the ground. Darcien quickly leapt to his feet and rushed to the side of the selfess old soldier. He clasped the lifeless hand and bowed his head for a moment, then rose to his feet. Those who beheld his features could not miss the fire in his eyes. He activated his comlink and spoke into it quietly.

"Sergeant Lorenz is dead, killed by an enemy grenade. Let's make those sons of bitches pay for what they've done."

----Twenty Minutes Later----

The stormtroopers stationed at the gate held their position until exterminated to a man. The enemy then poured through the now undefended gates and rushed to the steps of the comm center's entrance. As he witnessed the reckless onrush of the enemy, Darcien smiled grimly. A second later, a massive explosion shook the building and a furious torrent engulfed the enemy soldiers. In a mere ten seconds, the ground was broken and cracked, and a few charred husks were all that remained of the enemy onslaught. He activated his comlink and contacted his brother. "The enemy are falling back. We should have a short time of respite."

Yes I can see that give me a casualty report and prepare for an enemy attack the third line by the CC will be were we make our final stand. "Kaiden orders his men to stack crates and get mounted machine guns set up in a circle around the CC. This is going to get bloody he thought grimly." He is feeling better but still his hand still stings somewhat he takes a blaster from a fallen trooper and reloads it he will make a stand alongside his brother.

Darcien discards his ER40's empty power cell and rams in a new one, as he makes his way to his brother's side, frequently having to step aside to avoid stumbling over rubble. He removes his helmet and vigorously shakes his head, then leans against the wall, facing his brother. "I would advise that we remain here rather than waste lives in a useless counter-attack. We can fortify the comm center and set up gun emplacements there," he motions towards an embankment made of rubble, "and can place our men at the windows where they will have a great deal of cover." He pauses as he watches Kaiden, waiting for his response.

"Aye do that we need to get a casualty report to they will make another attack we must hold for 70 more minutes we can not afford to take needless risks." Darcien take a 3 squads and get a strike on their right flank we will be hard pressed to beat back another frontal assault.

 

[Darcien Meridias]

Darcien glances at a datapad in his hand. "Casualties have reached ten percent. I'm on it." He slips on his helmet again and runs over to where the remains of his squad are stationed. He slips behind cover next to Private Vosk opposite Private Zaner, who rises to a crouch and takes a shot at one of the enemy officers, then slides back down behind cover. These two were all that remained of Theta Squad, Private Horger having been killed by an enemy sniper and Sergeant Lorenz sacrificing himself. Darcien then activated his comlink.

"Omega and Gamma squads, rendevouz with me in the west wing. All units stationed at the front of the building are to open up heavy fire so as to distract the enemy."

Darcien turned and motioned for Theta squad to follow him. As they made their way to the rendevouz, he ordered them to stop at the armory, and ordered both soldiers to grab a mounted chain-gun. They then proceeded on their way and in five minutes they reached their destination. It was an office, in which the furniture was overturned or destroyed, equipment littered the room, and scorch marks were scattered across the walls. What called their attention, was the large window (2mx4m) overlooking the west side of the comm center. Darcien smashed the window and then called " Attach lines." The men proceeded to attach their descension lines. He looked to both sides of him to make sure everyone was ready, then gave the order, and they began the descent to the alley ten meters below. As they touched the ground, they disconnected from their lines and then follow Darcien who silently led the way. At the end of the alley it widened into the comm center's courtyard, on the right side. As they the fury of their comrades' fire increased, Darcien motioned towards a rubble embankment and ordered Private Zaner and Private Vosk to set up the chain-guns there. A moment after they had carried their orders out and had taken their place behind the embankment, the enemy noticed their handiwork. As they rushed the embankment, the chain-guns opened fire on them with deadly effect. Before they reached the foot of the embankment they suffered heavy losses and then quickly retreated, with the galling fire of the guns following them the whole way.

"Kaiden, we've established a secure position on the enemy's right and are holding. They attempted an assault, but suffered heavy casualties."

Good we will hold them back.

The Battle restarted the Republic has broken into two groups one to destroy the men entrenched near the CC the other to dispatch the flanking force. Get some suppressive fire we need to cover Gamma and Omega’s advance to Darcien. Me fires a burst with his rifle and takes down a three foolish Republic soldiers who left themselves exposed he ducks a bolt that went streaking to his face.

30 Minutes Later

Darcien things are going bad here sheer numbers are weighing us down I’m getting reports of33% Casualties and climbing we need your two squads to make a push and quick. The battle soon subsided as the Republic commander needed to take stock of the situation. “Get some charges planted and concealed scavenge for ammo and store them in crates were running dry,” he says in a calm tone. We will need to hold out for 40 more minutes of this.” Good luck Darcien we need you to do a flanking attack now.

"I understand." Darcien sighed heavily as he removed his helmet and dropped it to the ground. As he turned to address the men around him, he noticed their inquiring looks. "Gentlemen...the main position is in dire straits and dangerously close to being overrun. The fleet is still some time away, therefore we must charge the enemy and hopefully buy enough time for the rest of the company to reinforce their position. It is not a mandatory task, those of who you prefer to remain and aid in the defense are free to do so, but I for one will not remain behind." There was a short pause as the words sunk in, then without hesitation, every man present stood and saluted. Private Zaner stepped forward. "We're with you sir." Darcien nodded his head and looked around to be assured by the looks of grim determination upon the faces of the men. Those who had them, threw grenades over the embankment and after they exploded, they all rushed over and charged the enemy with guns blazing. Two of the men fell under the hail of enemy fire while the others pressed on and came to close quarters with the enemy. The enemy were pushed back all the way to the gate, the stormtroopers fighting with clubbed blasters, vibroknives, and whatever else they could obtain. Darcien ducked under the sweeping blow of a vibroblade wielded by a Rodian soldier and then buried his vibroknife in the Rodian's ribs. Private Vosk was knocked to the ground while defending his head and would have been killed had not Darcien taken careful aim with his pistol and placed a blaster bolt between the eyes of Vosk's assailant.

----Thirty Minutes Later----

The stormtroopers managed to set up a ray-shield where the gates had once stood. The enemy withdrew in great confusion, having lost many men during the fight. Darcien's detachment was in no better shape, with the loss of all Gamma Squad, half of Omega Squad, and Private Zaner. Of the remaining men, not one was without at least half a dozen wounds. Darcien looked to where the enemy were reforming and heaved a sigh of desperation at the knowledge that he would never see his family again. But he had his duty to do and turned to address his men, as he did so, he heard a faint droning sound. "Look!" cried Private Vosk, pointing to the air where squadrons of TIE Strikers were rapidly descending to the surface and then proceeded to strafe the enemy positions. The survivors cheered lustily and Darcien smiled to himself, thankful to have come through the terrible carnage alive. He then contacted his brother.

"The cavalry has arrived."

"Aye, let us take stock of the casualties and prepare for the arrival of are aid." Kaiden looks on he lost to many men and he knows it he will be glad to be off this planet. He joins in the cheering and orders his squads to form up in ranks so they may be relieved.
