Sembla - 0700 hrs.
Vash Windrider stood in the doorway behind the two pilots control the Sith drop ship. The first of three that were assigned to the mission. Vash and a ten well trained Shock Troopers were in shuttle one, Master Serie Fond and another ten of her men were in the second, and the third carried the rest of her platoon of the Imperial Armed Forces. The Sith Assassin had volunteered to be the first in to take the "beach head" as it were. He was the Knight and Serie the freshly risen Master. He would give her the respect demanded of the position and thus land ahead.

The mission was simple in theory. Land at the island in force, secure the landing zone for reinforcements and then explore and secure the rest of the island. By extension kill or capture any predatory lifeforms that may be of service to the Empress and her war machine. Probe droids had scouted ahead and seen movements in the jungle. However no image of the creatures could be recovered. They were flying blind.

As the clear warm waters started to turn into warm sandy beaches, Vash gave the signal to land the craft. The pilot brought the craft to a halt, turn so the ramp faced the beach and lowered the ramp as they came to a hover only ten feet from the surface. The Sith assassin raised the hood of his robes and walked to the ramp. Igniting his saber before leaping from the ramp to land smoothly on the beach. The ten troopers following behind. As the men sit the sand they took positions to form a 180 field of fire should anything rush from the tree line.

Vash opened himself to the force and allowed his senses to carry outward as far as they could reach. For the moment all he could feel was the life auras of the men before him and those awaiting his word behind him. He tapped the com link on his wrist, "Beach is secure, Master."

Serie was more than excited to get the mission underway. For one she was getting another chance to spend some time with her troops was always a welcome experience. And two, she was about to possibly discover some life forms that previously had gone unseen by the galaxy. Both thoughts excited her and piqued her natural curiosity.

As she looked around the dropship however, the troops under her command seemed to be more scared of her than anything. She decided to make it her personal mission this time to try and get them to trust her more.

As Vash radioed in and informed her that the beach was secure she yelled for the pilot to go ahead and set them down with the rest of the platoon.

Jumping out of the dropship first even before it had landed she nodded her head in the direction of the treeline, indicating to her troops that she wanted them to go ahead and cover that area. While they were doing that she found Vash in the crowd and made her way over to him, although she cursed the super soft sand as it took her forever to tread through it.

Nicely done so far. She told him with an enthusiastic smile on her face. Remember, if we encounter any new and exotic life forms, we need yo try and capture them. More than a few of us want new creatures to study for the Empire. She stated as she started to tread through the treacherous sand again and head towards the tree line her men were currently advancing on.

Vash smired at the miserable time that Serie was having slogging through the sand. His sadistic side could take great enjoyment out of the misery of others, especially after becoming one of the Sith. He took a little pity however and slogged forward himself to lessen travel. Vash spent the five years before the rise of the Empire in the swomps and sand pits of Hutt Space. So the terrian to him was just another day at the office.

"We'll see how exsided you are when we find what's been destroying our probe droids. I prefer to kill that which tries to kill me rather then turn it into a science project." He replied pessimistically. Vash was a former Jedi Shadow and currently one of the Sith Assassins. Research and exploration was not high on his list of skills or even interests. But he wanted to become a Master. So here he was, exploring for things that wanted to eat him.

Vash would return his attention to the treeline as his shock troopsers took up positions around the two Sith, as a short of flesh shield to them. Not needed of course, but accepted with the right that came with command. Not his, YET. But Serie's. Vash called on the force to raise his senses and push them outward. Sadly he could feel nothing hostle, just the ever expanding presents of thier own men.

What he couldn't feel was the pack of beasts that waited in the treeline. They were hidden at the moment as they were six and the Sith were far more. With a few grunts and low shrieks they broke down into pairs and divided to conquer their prey.

Serie and Vash advanced towards the tree line when she heard several loud shrieks and rustling in said tree line. Blinking rapidly, she wondered if perhaps they had come with not enough troops. She ddidnt dwell on it however as she yanked her old dart rifle off her back and got ready for some big game hunting. She really never figure that going on a bounty hunt with a certain pink zeltron for a old dusty dart rifle was ever going to come in handy, but if she had learned anything in the wider galaxy it was to always expect the unexpected.

Looking through the tiny scope on her rifle she shifted her gaze through the trees and brush as quickly as she could, using the force to help guide her as she searched for one of the creatures to shoot. After several moments of searching she thought she finally caught glimpse of one as it scurried in some thicker brush. She lined the sights up on the hindquarters of the animal and squeezed the trigger, hoping the dart hit it's mark. More than that she also hoped that the tranquilizer she had prepared would be string enough to incapacitate the creatures. Whether it did or not she was already working on reloading the dart rifle, pulling a case full of darts from her pocket as she signaled for the rest of the men to start advancing towards the spot she had fired upon. Well let's go see if I hit anything. She said to Vash before dredging trough the annoyingly soft sand again till she finally made it to the tree line and somewhat harder ground.

Vash readied himself and ignited his lightsaber as he also heard the sounds of the charging beasts. Serie's men would start to surround the creature as it's many large tentacles started to lash out knocking one man across the beach and about the lash out at another. The Master's "old trusty" managed to drop the creature with a single shot. The idea stopped Vash's momentum as he was slightly dumb struck that it worked.

The remaining creatures would take the opportunity of the false victory and strike in force. Two would emerge from the woods to strike the soldiers on Serie's left flank, two more would appear to Vash's right and the fifth would plow down the front. Like the pack beast that they were the creatures used the surprise the to pounce on the unsuspecting soldiers, crushing several men. The one in the center would charge at Serie as the others would start to move.

Vash called the force to him, raised a tree from the edge of the woods and clubbed the beast. Sending it tumbling sideways. "How many of these things are we planning to keep alive, Master ?" He grunted while swinging again with the tree. This time striking the beast with a crushing sound like bones and flesh bursting from around the makeshift club.

Serie had just finished reloading her dart rifle when she heard rustling in the trees and suddenly a multitude of the creatures came swarming her and her men. Thankfully, the soldiers provided a little bit of a meat shield for her, giving her time to think about what she was going to do and react accordingly.

As one of the tentacled creatures came barreling towards her, she waited till it was just close enough, then gripped it with the force. Thoroughly locking the strange thing in place, she leveled her dart rifle one more time and fired just above the toothy mouth of the thing.

Not bothering to reload it again she dropped it in the sand and pulled her lightsaber off her belt and ignited it, ready to defend herself from the right flank that was currently collapsing due to the creatures surprise attack. Probably just those two. She said to Vash, nodding her head towards the two creatures she had tranquilized. Then looking at the one he had just clubbed. Probably not that one though. She said with a smile and got ready to cut down anything that got too close for her comfort.

Vash gave a sound that was something like a scoff or snicker. Amusing one way or another, and with it a pleased grin. He would then lift the tree over the wounded creature and drop it atop of it with a satisfying bone crushing noise and a slash of ichor. The assassin's amusement was fleeting as the remaining three creatures were decimating Serie's forces. Cutting down swaths of men with their man arms or limbs before darting around in random directions to attack again. It was a hit and run style befitting a Sith, Vash would almost admire and respect the tactic. If it weren't killing their forces.

Now free to kill without hesitation Vash would do what he felt he did best. Unleash death on the enemy. The former Jedi would focus on the one left at his flank that was busy with tearing a trooper into two pieces. Using the force, Vash leaped from his position. Crossing the distance in a single bound. What he didn't expect was the creature being aware of him. It didn't even move, just swung backward. Catching Vash in the legs. He folded around the appendage and managed to cut it off with a single swing before falling to the sand to a thud.

Anger and embarrassment filled the soul of the assassin, and the dark side fed on it. From the ground the Sith would lash out at the strange creature with hatred and anger manifesting into a bright red streaks of lighting. Not as powerful as a Master but still enough to cause the beast to shrike in pain. Vash focused all of himself into the lighting and holding the breast within it's grasp.

Meanwhile the others would retreat seeing their numbers dwindling. Even so the damage to the platoon was such that fifteen of the Master's troopers were either dead or wounded beyond the ability to fight. Several others had been injured to same small degree but still able to fight, and the beach was only now secure.

Serie pointed to the two, now sleeping, beasts and ordered her soldiers to take them back to the ships. Although this would further reduce their numbers, she was more concerned with making sure she got a few of the creatures back to the Sith home world for testing. With the rest of the creatures retreating, she picked up her rifle once more and started to reload it.

Alright, there can't be that many of them. Well bring the rest of the guys with us, clear out what remains of the jungle, and everyone goes home happy! Well except those little guys, but who cares about them anyway! They're ugly as hell! She said as she finished reloading the dart rifle and made her way towards the tree line. She felt like some sort of big game hunter or something straight out of a holovid. She trudged through the sand along side the fellow Sith and soldiers. She was very ready to get going and finish this mission. Afterall, she wanted to experiment on the ugly little things too.

The Rathtar was now all but dead as Vash had struck the creature with blast after blast of lighting. His blind hatred had made him unaware of how far he was pushing himself and when he gained control once more he found himself light headed and gasping for air. Not unlike the at of sex, the act of losing himself within the full power of the dark side was very....taxing. Vash took a moment as he got to his feet. Shaking off the feeling of exhaustion as he called the force to him and centered himself within the dark side once again.

Now aware of what he was looking for the assassin could feel the life force of the beasts as they retreated into the woods. The assassin once again ignited his weapon as the force guided him like a blood hound to the trail of their prey. "I think there are more here then we first assumed. This way Master, we'll leave the men here for now. They will only slow us down." He said bluntly. Vash would not turn gaze to her however. He would not turn away from his trail. He would also not wait for her orders to see if she took his advise. Instead following his sense at a quick pace as he moved off the beach.

Serie noticed the younger Sith nearly exhaust himself using the force lightning like he did. She coyly smiled at it too. To her it just further reaffirmed how much better she was than the rest of the fledgling knights of the order. She could have put on a display twice as grand and still be fresh and ready for more.

She didn't have much of a chance to dwell on it though as the assassin made his way into the jungle. She thought of him as her hunting dog, sniffing out the trail so she could level her sights on the creatures and dart them again. She wasn't planning on taking too many more, satisfied that she had gotten two in the first place, but she figured one more wouldn't hurt. Still she was extremely wary, keeping her senses highly attuned thanks to the force. She would probably hear a twig snap a mild away, which was very much needed in a situation like this. Staying behind the Sith knight she clutched her rifle tightly in her hands and kept her senses opened to the fullest to better anticipate another ambush.

Vash paused for a split second as he felt Serie reach out into the force. It was not the fact that she was but rather the feeling he was getting from her. Where they were once both knights in the Empire before, now she was as he had addressed her. A Master. And her emotions of superiority was bleeding into the force. It irritated him, to a degree that she would also feel it in the force. He thought to call her on it, to test her here and now. It was the dark side, and jealousy pulling at his anger. But a far more powerful feeling would wash over him all of the sudden.

A wild and aggressive feeling of anger and hate would fill the force. It was the Rathtar. But something was different, it was far greater then the pack animals the two Sith and their men had encountered before. This was far stronger, and withing that anger was a sense of caution. Vash turned his full attention to this strength, this ferocity. Vash slowly approached this disturbance in the force and as the forest thinned out it would give way to a cave, massive in scale. Within it both Sith would feel the same thing. This was the home of the pack they encountered and seemingly a queen or alpha female within.

Serie cracked her neck as they approached the cave. She had a feeling this wasn't going to be very fun. She doing her dart rifle back on her back and grabbed her lightsaber, keepingnone hand free in case she should need to use the force.

She didn't waste anytime, she ignited her lightsaber and started making her way through. As she made it into the cave she would begin to channel the force into her hand, preparing to use a blast or her force lightning should anything get too close. She had a feeling that the two of them would both be in for a rare experience inside this cave.

Vash was a bit surprised by Serie's sudden need to take the lead on this. He could respect, or at least use it to his advantage. She was the warrior after all, and he the assassin. Let her run in head long and "ready for battle". Vash was the hunter, a stalker. He landed first out of rank not of preference. So if she wanted take the lead, he would take the shadows. He took a pause to allow her to move in. Just enough to allow her to draw the attention of the creatures.

How ever the approach they would both feel their prey within the force. Animal anger and ferocity. But most importantly, fear. There were the two they encountered before. Fearful but angry, and a longing to.....protect? But there was also a much stronger feeling of fear, of panic. With it the two of them would also feel smaller lifeforms, babies.

Serie walked head long into a massive chamber where at the back center sat a massive Rathtar, a queen, if Serie was to guess. Before and round her massive size was a clutch of eggs, though it was impossible to tell the number at this point. Flanking her was the two remaining Rathtar from the beach. They were poised to strike but were yet to make a move.

Vash used the force to bathed himself in the shadows of the cave. including leaving his blade off for the moment as to make sure not to draw any attention to himself. Serie would still know that he was in the cave with her but would also be unaware of where his exact position was within the cave.

Serie wasn't sure what to expect, but giant ugly tentacled queen wasn't anywhere on her list. She did start to get a new idea though. With her partner disappearing into the darkness of the cave, should her plan go wrong, he would be in a idle position to help her out.

She deactivated her lightsaber and stretched both of her hands out at shoulder height. She took a deep breath and then used the force to try and subjugate the queens mind. She figured if she could have the queen eating out of the palm of her hand, then the others would follow. Instead of just two or three of these things captured, she could get every last one of them to walk into a containment cell. She smiled thinly as she tried to dominate the mind of the beast, attempting to subjugate its entire consciousness to her will. You will listen to me. She almost whispered as the beasts stirred around her.

The creature grunted. She was strong of will and fierce of mind. The queen Rathtar shriked and snarled trying to push out the probing thoughts of the Sith Master as Serie forced her own mental will into that of the primitive predator. But it's simple mind was no match for the Sith. Before long the Serie would feel to creature's will break and shatter like glass, and once in pieces she was like putty in the hands of the Sith warrior. The Rathtar's ear piercing shrikes would calm into something more like a low growl as she would wait for the command of her Master. The other two creatures would suddenly also change their tone as they followed the lead of their queen.

Serie felt the beasts begin to subjugate to her will. Slowly but surely she forced it on the queen over and over until it finally submitted and succumbed to her willpower.

There. I think that will do. Now come on my ugly ugly little children, I've got to get you to your new home.

She said doing her best to keep away from the things as she twirled her fingers like a puppeteer holding them on strings and bid them to follow her out of the cave. She was more than delighted to have an entire hive of the things she could test and study on. Not to mention keeping some of them as pets in case anyone was stupid enough to attack Korriban. She smiled and called up to Vash.

Alright let's go! I took care of everything like I always have to. She said, the naughtiness in her voice somewhat apparent. She was getting quite full of herself these days, especially after feats of strength like the one she had just displayed. It only fed more into her ego as the queen and the horde of tentacled creatures filled her put of the cave and back to the beach to be transported.
