"Senators," Malmourral spoke, the sharp disapproval in her voice evident, "The time for debate has passed. Please remain silent to allow the members to cast their votes."

The Senate stirred in a rush of sudden chatter. The Chancellor had stepped out of the hall, and the senior senator from Brentaal IV stepped forward. The aging man raised his hands to gain the attention of his fellow Senators, and he carefully indicated their chatter should cease.

"Senators," he said, gently. Most of the hall hushed, and as it did, the rest followed suit.

"The vigor and attention to this matter is greatly appreciated, but the Senator from Dathomir speaks truth. We have moved beyond that point in the debate, and I kindly ask you to adhere to the standing rules of order - especially with the Chancellor attending to a matter elsewhere." The man smiled warmly as the full attention of the hall turned to him, and he turned to one of the Chancellor's senior staff, who nodded to indicate she would not be rejoining them.

"Thank you to all the good Senators for their votes. At this time, voting has concluded. It is clear according to the record that the motion fails. With all no further business apparent, this session is adjourned."

The halls of the Senate once more quietly rumbled as small conversations immediately struck up, staff rustled papers as they collected them, and the entire assembled body began to slowly make its way to the multiple exists. Senator Exodus himself collected his papers, nodded and said a quite thanks to the Chancellor's staff, and then proceed towards the door. There was work to be done before the next session, and his staff had already sent him several dozen emails in the short span of time he had stopped reading them to chair in the Chancellor's absence.
