Jon rolled his eyes. He was sure they would pull something stupid. Their families had always had this rivalry; he wasn't even sure where or why it had started.

"I am not sure Banidt likes all to extra energy," he said. Bandit hadn't gotten up there in years and spent most of his days sleeping on the porch or following his dad around. "She loves him, though..." he said, glancing down at the puppy, still energetically cuddling with Kali. So far, he had kept her away from the wolves. They were not overly aggressive, but they were still wolves. They worked with Jon, but their true loyalty lay with Kali and the squire who had bonded with them.

He hooked up a trailer to the speeder, and they were off. "My plan was to get as much of the roof on as possible, but now that you are here, I'd like to get away with you for a bit," he said, glancing over. "I'll leave that choice up to you, though," he said. He gave her the choice because he knew she wanted to be a part of the process of building. He wouldn't take the opportunity away from her if she wanted it. "All I know is having a force user here will make the job a heck of a lot easier. I was not looking forward to hauling up all the supplies to the roof myself," he said truthfully.

"Oh, and sword training! Its been forever since I have got to do any practicing!" he added.

Kalique could vividly imagine the scene. An overly active puppy continously circling the much calmer, adult dog. "Poor Bandit.." she really felt bad for him, but she didn't doubt Luna enjoyed the company of what was probably something close to a canine brother.

"Get away with me huh? Is that another surprise you have basically planned or just a spontaneous idea?" after the puppy surprise, she was perhaps a little suspicious. He offered her to make the choice but she found it hard, given that she would happily enjoy some quality time with him, but at the same time she couldn't miss the chance of helping her and speeding things up.

"Hmm" as he did add the sword training, she couldn't help but grin though. "What if we stay, get as much done of the roof as we can for the next two days, and enjoy two somewhere else?" she then suggested, finding it a good comprise as it would still leave them flexible.

"Sparring session we'll absolutely squeeze inbetween" it made her happy that he was still excited about that and she was also looking forward to do it. "So, what do you say?".

He laughed. "No plans, though if you would have told me you were coming, I am sure I could have put something together." he gave her a smirk. Honestly, he didn't much mind what they did. He was just glad to have her here. It had been a lonely time for him, without his work, without her. It had been harder than he thought it would be. He hadn't told her; he didn't want to worry her with his small problems. She was out there risking her life and safety; he could deal with some loneliness.

Jon nodded to her idea. There was no way they would get the roof done in two days, though it was unlikely they would get it done if they spent all five days at it. It was a good compromise that gave her time to help but also some time to relax. "Sounds perfect." he replied.

The rest of the short trip to Hilltop was filled with them just catching up and continuing puppy shenanigans. It had felt like they had never been apart. There had been moments of doubt throughout the last weeks if he had done the right thing or not, but now? There was no doubt.

They arrived at the building supplier, who brought in supplies from some of the larger cities. They entered the store and approached the older man behind the counter at the back of the shop. "I was starting to wonder if you were going to make it today, Jon." the older man said, putting the book he had been reading down. "Mr. Trindell." Jon said with a nod. "Had a couple of pleasant surprises today that slowed me down, but we made it!" he said, shooting Kali a quick smile. "This is Kali." he said before adding to Kali. "And Kali...this is Mr. Trindell." he introduced both of them.

"Oh, is this the archer everyone talks about?" he asked, turning to her and extending a hand. "One and the same." Jon replied proudly. It had been months since the harvest festival, but winter was a slow time for everyone, and big news died slowly here in such a small town.

"Now, whats a beautiful, talented woman such as yourself doing with this oaf." he joked, tossing his head towards Jon. "Hey now!" Jon interjected. "Do you want my credits or not?" he cut back in, sliding the man his money. "I suppose I do." he said with a smile before motioning for his droids to start loading the trailer.

"How goes the house?" the older man said in conversation.

What he said was once again incredibly sweet, but there was a sudden surge of sadness again, so as if something was surfacing. It was faint, but it was there, and she couldn't ignore it. "I absolutely didn't want you to worry about that too...I'm certain we'll have a blast as always" she let the silence that followed linger for a moment and pondered on her words while Luna happily chewed on one of her fingers.

While one hand remained at the puppy, the other reachedfor his free hand and she run her thumb across the back of it. "There's something on your mind, too...now it's your time to share" she softly gave him the gentle, verbal nudge that was accompanied with an empathetic smile as she waited for him to elaborate.

The conversation then went on to their plans while they got closer to hilltop. He agreed with her plan and she was very happy about it, already running through a few ideas in her mind. In Hilltop, they immediately made their way over to the supplier and Luna happily trailed along with them.

"It's a pleasure to meet you" she extended her hand to greet Mr. Trindell, a happy smile on her lips. His remark drew a soft chuckle from her that was followed by an actual blush as she had absolutely not expected any one to remember...but thinking back to how everyone remembered Jon as the great apple thrower, she should have perhaps expected it.

"Seems like this will follow me for a while, huh?" she asked Jon, slightly shaking her head, a smirk, however, crossing her lips, as some playful banter between the two men followed. "It's making progress...I've seen it for the first time today and I'm impressed by how far Jon has already come" she replied, making conversation. Kalique was still absolutely in love with Hilltop and it was even if it still felt slightly surreal to buy supplies for their house, she enjoyed every last second of it.

His instinct was to brush off her comment, say everything was alright, reassure her, but if he really believed they were partners in this, and he really did, she deserved honesty. "It has been a..." he finally said, pausing for the right words to come. "...difficult adjustment," he admitted. "I am fine," he said, pulling back from his statement. "Its just been...I don't know.." he said, honestly confused himself. Things were great; he was happy, and she would be able to sense that.

In Hilltop, they finished their conversation with Mr. Lindrell, and their supplies were loaded. With Night quickly approaching, they would have enough light to unload everything. The puppy had tired herself out and curled up in Kali's lap on the return trip home.

Once back at the homestead, between Jon, Kali, and the two droids, they unloaded the trailer just as night was setting in. "You can power down now." he gave the command to the droids as they entered their charging modes.

This left just Kali and himself outside the shell of what would one day soon be their home. The stars overhead were brilliant in a way that they never were in the city on Raxus. The galactic painting above was truly marvelous, but it all seemed like nothing compared to the woman standing with him.

Moving the ladder, they were able to climb up on a flat part of the roof that would be over the porch that had been covered in plywood and allow for sitting. He offered her a hand up at the top of the ladder and settled down. He was sore from the day's work, but it was a satisfying soreness, one well-earned.

Starlight reflected in the pond below them as it blazed above them. There were still a million things to do before this place was fully realized, but right now, it all seemed so simple with her here. "It doesn't seem like a place you can just...go to" he said, sitting down and looking up at the stars.

Kalique had been glad that he had opened up about what weighted him down as they had gotten to talk about it a little more on their way to Hilltop. They both sometimes fell into the habit of bottling up such emotions to protect the other, but she once again learned that it was better to just communicate and thus process it instead.

Loading the wares, driving back and unloading took its time and so once they were done, Luna was thoroughly tired and thus curled up in a framed room on the ground floor while Kalique and Jon headed for the partly build roof of the porch. She gratefully took his hand before she needed a few moments to take in the indescribable beauty of the starry sky above.

Without any light pollution, their new place offered the most clearest and mesmerizing views on the night sky she had ever seen and even if she had repeatedly marveled at the Spintir nightskies, it was something absolutely magical and breathtaking every single time and sharing it with him made her incredibly happy.

"I know...it's almost unreal" she softly agreed with him, her gaze directed at the stars before it flicked down to him. She mover closer and laid down on her side, waiting for him go follow as there was more than enough space for the two of them to do so.

It was a core memory made right here, and the collection of them was already long. She gently run along his arm with her fingertips, gently up and down while a joyful smile was planted on her lips. "I can't believe in a few months we'll have the place of our dreams build right here..". The thought was still wonderful and it was hard not to mentally fill the blanks already.

starry-night-landscape-forest-vector-scenery-illustration_104785-1596.jpg

Her gaze briefly drifted upwards, apperently just at the right time, as a shooting star was suddenly passing way, quickly making its way across the starry sky. "Quick! Make a wish!" she pointed at it, immediately closing her eyes to make her own before her lips curled into wide smile.

He laid down next to her, the evening air refreshing, if not just a tad chilly still. It felt like they were all along, the only two souls in the whole Galaxy. Serenno had been much the same, but there was less light pollution here, the nearest city with so much as a spaceport being hundreds of miles away.

He wrapped an arm around her and let out a content breath. He agreed that it all felt surreal. "You are putting a lot of faith in my building abilities." he joked quietly. Her touch on his arm was cool. He probably should have brought a blanket, but it had been a bit of a last-minute decision to come up here, one he was glad he made. "This time next year, we could have animals running all over the place. A proper farm," he said fondly of the idea.

"I didn't think this is where we would end up.." he said. If you had asked him last year, he would have said his goal was to earn his way back to an Infantry Command role, but he had made a complete 180. She was right; he was happier here. This was him, or at least more of him. "I am glad though..." he added a handful of seconds later.

He was about to speak again when she pointed up to the sky. He followed her gaze and saw the shooting star streak across the sky, disappearing behind the horizon. He chuckled as she closed her eyes, presumably making a wish. He did the same, closing his eyes, picturing the wish in his mind before opening his eyes again a moment later.

Several seconds of silence ticked by before Jon spoke up.

"So what did you wish for?" he asked, knowing she wouldn't answer, but it seemed right to ask anyway.

The night air was slightly breeze, yet fresh with the scents of spring. There was not a single ship in the sky and the absence of clouds meant that the brilliantly clear night sky sparkled in its most mesmerizing way above. Her mind lingered on the moment, just with him, making it feel like it was just them in the whole wide galaxy with all the things that normally kept her mind occupied momentarily forgotten.

"I do..." she softly replied, knowing that if it came to it, she'd managed to safe them, but she really wasn't waiting for it to happen but instead really trusted his abilities here. "Right...and we might lie on the grass by the pond instead once the roof is fully built...or we'll still climb up" she gently added with a smirk, now allowing her mind to wander along the path of the wonderful future that awaited.

As he voiced he hadn't seen him right here, her gaze flicked back to him, studying him for a moment while she pondered on asking whether he regretted anything, but as he elaborated just a moment later, she exhaled slowly. Yes, he was different here. She didn't doubt it had been the right decision for him, but it was good he saw it similarly.

"Well...before I met you, my answer would have been different as well" she had never seen herself on Serenno and it had obviously been for the best, but settling down on a farm was a thought she had learned to love as soon as they had crossed their paths and he had introduced her to all of that. It was exactly what she had needed, something that had been missing before. "Now I couldn't be any happier".

"I'm a little bummed we haven't ended up on Endor" she amusedly quipped after another moment, before the shooting star passed by and they both made their wishes. As she opened her eyes and faced him with a warm smile, his question soon made her chuckle before she shook her head.

"No. You can never ever, under no circumstances tell what you've wished for" she said to him, not out of superstition, but because she even figured keeping the sweet secret was much better than sharing it. Instead, she rolled over to him with a smirk, wrapping her legs around him too and taking in the warmth that was a pleasant contrast to the chilly air.

She nestled her head against the side of his neck, inhaling slowly before she let out a content breath, simply enjoying the moment with closed eyes while her heartbeat involuntarily sped up a little. Her lips curled into a slight smirk before she planted a kiss against the sensitive skin of the side of his neck, that was followed by another a moment later.

"Well, this part of the roof will still be relatively flat, and the window to our bedroom will be right about...here." he said, pointing behind them. "So we can out here any time we want." he said with a smile. "Though by the pond is also an excellent choice.." he said with a smirk. He had taken more than a couple of afternoon naps out there.

He let out a chuckle as she mentioned Endor. "Now, that would be pretty remote.." he said. "With you, though? I'd do it." he said with a smile.

Soldiers were notoriously superstitious, something Jon was not at all immune to. However, if she had asked what he had wished for, he would have gladly told her right there and then, but she didn't, and the moment passed. There was a knowing smirk on his face as he stared up at the starry sky.

She rolled over, moving closer to him. As her lips brushed against his neck, it sent shivers down his spine that had nothing to do with the cool night air. He rolled slightly, looking down at her as moonlight danced in her jade eyes "I love you." he said before he slowly leaned and kissed her. He took his time, moving with a gentle patience, fully savoring the reunion.

---

A good while later, they lay still curled up together. "You know? We should go back to Endor someday..." he said, breaking the comfortable silence. "Could be a lot of fun.." he said, his voice still quiet.

"That...is amazing". Those prospects were just great as having constant and easy access to this special place was a dream. She followed to where he pointed and visualized the window right there, already looking forward to the breathtaking view outside the bedroom, but obviously the pond was still in the race as well.

"You know...back to the roots would also be lovely...but I'm relatively certain this here is better" she added with a smile, once again reveling in the memories of Endor. It was better, given that his parents were here, too and they could assist each other whenever, also, supplies were always available here. It was secured by the Empire, but thus a target as well, but in the end, she knew no better place. He was also right about one thing: As long as she was with him, it didn't really matter in the end.

They soon made the most out of their reunion here underneath the starry night sky. She was much less cold after and a wide, satisfied smile was on her lips as she was still curled up against him. "We should...I like that idea", she softly replied, not even questioning his immediate reasons as she surely had some on her mind.

"Do you think the village remembers us?", she curiously asked, tilting her head to meet his gaze. Regardless, it was a sweet vacation idea. She inhaled slowly and just enjoyed the moment before she reached up to cup his cheek. "How did I get so lucky..." honestly, sometimes, she couldn't believe how lucky she was.

He relaxed back, feeling whole again with her next to him. He thought about her question for a while. "I think so," he said finally. Jon and his men had been there a few weeks after their mission to make sure no other rebellions popped up. In that time, they distributed supplies and helped the village.

The Ewoks had been hospitable towards them then, but they were still an occupying force as well. "We could probably bring some stuff to trade with them." he said. "Our slingshot is pretty worn out." he chuckled.

He smiled, leaning into her hand, turning to kiss her palm lightly. "I think the Galaxy collectively agrees that I got the better end of this relationship." he chuckled.

"I..." he stopped as he was cut off by a small, high-pitched howl down below. Luna, no doubt waking up and finding the moon outside, couldn't resist. Jon let out a laugh, leaning his head against the top of hers. "Like clockwork..." he said. It was an adorable sound, one that was impossible to be angry at unless you were trying to sleep.

"We should probably get going before it gets too late. We probably need to at least look in on the wolves." he said, but not moving. He knew what they should do, but his body refused to move.

The world could surely wait a few more minutes...

She let out an agreeing "mhm", thinking he was right. The chief had been really happy with them, the little Ewoks had always watched them in awe, and some of them had literally never seen Humans before. Even though it had been years and the little bears were probably adult by now, maybe they'd remember...They surely still did.

"Good call...this time I won't go in with my lightsabers...we will be more prepared this time". There were most certainly more young ones around, so she didn't doubt they were happy to start negotiating again. "Oh absolutely...a new one would be great" she amusedly agreed as she pulled herself closer to him again.

She was about to answer, when a high little 'awoooo' drew her attention. "Awww...that is absolutely adorable" she was far off from the notes the Wolves usually hit, but for a moment Kalique thought she'd hear them answer her call from a distance...

"You're right.." it was already dark and it seemed like they had a busy day ahead of them tomorrow as well. "We can get Luna's scent in there...but I'd rather introduce her outside and during daylight another day" she mused, before she nestled her head against in one last time. She could have just stayed like this all night, but they had to get going, but what soothed her was the prospect of knowing she could curl up next to him in bed later again anyway.

"Come on" she whispered softly after taking the beautiful moment in for another moment before she reluctantly sat up and sorted her clothes. They'd then get dressed and make their way back to the speeded with Luna excitedly trailing along side them before they climbed into the speeder.

He chucked. "We will see how adorable you think it is in the middle of the night." he said cheerfully. She had only awakened him a couple of times, and he was sure once he made the time to start training her, she would have less energy at night. "I'll start training her...sometime..." he said. It was another thing to add to the list of a thousand things.

With the decision to leave made, neither one of them moved at first. He was glad she was on the same page as he was. For a precious moment longer, it was just him, her, and an overly energetic puppy howls. A perfect moment.

She was right; if they didn't move now, it was a complete possibility they would stay out here all night, though the prospect of that was certainly not a bad one. He finally sat up, resting hands on his knees as she started gathering her things. She was absolutely beautiful in the moonlight. "No, I am surely the lucky one here." he thought to himself. He looked forward to the day when they wouldn't have to leave this place; this would be home.

The movement on the roof had caught Luna's attention, and she barked and spun in circles down below. Jon peaked over the edge, Luna getting down low in a pouncing position, clearly ready to play. "Yeah, we hear you..." he said with a shake of his head. They quickly got ready to leave and climbed down the ladder.

Once on the ground, Jon lunged at the puppy, causing her to run away and crouch low again. He then took off running towards the speeder, the puppy giving chase. He laughed as Luna gave chase before turning around and scooping her up. They had each brought speeders down, so he put Luna down into Kali's speeder. Once Kali was inside, he would lean over her door, kissing her. "I'll meet you up at the barn." he said. Luna, once again, was not a fan of sharing attention and tried to dive in between them. "Yeah yeah, you too." he said, scratching her ears.

He then made his way towards his speeder and followed behind as they went to check in on the wolves.

Well...maybe her view on whether or not Luna's Howling was adorable would change during the night...maybe she'd find a way to block it out through meditation or to even make her more tired through animal bonding now that Kalique had gained much experience there...

It was a tempting thought, it wouldn't harm her at all and Jon would get some actual rest, too. "You know, we'll see about that" she thus replied with a smirk crossing her lips, actually being relatively optimistic. Training her was still a good idea but knowing what he had on his agenda, she just left it at that.

They got dressed and climbed down even if neither really wanted to leave this place, but finding an overexcited puppy down there clearly helped. "Oh you can't wait to see us again, hmm?" with the nap she had taken, she seemed more energetic than ever and her mood was somewhat infectious.

Seeing Jon play with her was one of the most adorable things she had ever seen and she followed with a smile until they reached the speeder. "You better behave in the speeder..." she softly said to her, knowing she'd find ways to prevent her from getting actual shenanigans started, but she was hoping for a relaxed ride.

"See you in a bit then" she gently replied before she met his lips which just resulted in another excited squeal from Luna, who definitely felt like she was missing out. She let out an amused scoff before she did focus on the driving and fortunately the drive was fairly uneventful.

She pulled her speeder over and soothed Luna a little before she alighted, leaving her in the speeder for now. She was monitoring her emotions, not wanting her to freak out all by herself but she figured she could practice some patience while they quickly checked on her much bigger siblings.

She waited for Jon to join her before she moved towards the barn door, before she asked, "So did you notice anything out of the ordinary with them? Did something shift within their dynamics? And you have to tell me whether they responded well to your commands" she curiously asked in while shifting into a mood of calmness, something she always brought to the pups as it was easier for them to remain calm then as well.

The ride back to the barn was quiet, watching the speeder lights ahead of him. He tapped the steering wheel as he thought, processing the unexpected flood of emotions the day had brought. He wore a small smile, feeling warm, feeling whole.

They arrived at the barn, and Jon rejoined Kali. "They work well together," he commented. He had only taken them all hunting once, but they had obeyed commands and worked with one another. There was a clear hierarchy, with Chaos being the pack leader. "For the most part...." he said after a slight hesitation.

He looked at the smaller gray-colored male in the pen. Jon had taken to calling him smokey, not only for his dark grey coat, but he's also had a certain smoke-tinted haze to their hue. He nodded toward the wolf. "He has been my problem child." Jon noted. "Nothing serious, but he certainly likes to push his boundaries." The wolf stood a little taller, taking on a proud posture, letting out a low rumble of a growl.

"That's good", she relied with a smile as it was really a relief to hear they still got along as a pack and a goal had clearly been to keep them working closely as a pack just like that, so Kalique was really happy to hear. "Most part?" oh no, but what came next.

As they opened the barn, all of of them came rushing over to greet them, tails wagging accordingly, some more some less excited. Chaos immediately came over, licking her hands as his typical greeting, the fur on his back however standing a little. A friendly greeting, yet he was already signaling the others that he was claiming the greeting procedure.

He moved over to Jon, but as he mentioned Smokey, Kalique immediately noticed the shift in the smaller males demeanor. "Nuh uh" she immediately cut in, directed at the grey wolf whose ears immediately perched at the correction, but that was when Chaos snapped at him with a growl, obviously joining in on the reprimand.

"Hey" Kalique warned him sharply, not wanting to tolerate such blatant dominance posturing and needing to defuse the situation before an actual conflict anyway. "A bunch of work, I see...". Kalique knew she needed to train them more regularly as well, but as the boys were momentarily minding their business elsewhere, Lumi and Ember came over to say 'Hi' properly.

"Oh I've missed you too" she softly said to them as she snatched Lumi behind the ear while Ember happily nudged Jon. "They love you a lot...I can sense it" Kalique was incredibly happy that they had accepted Jon's parents, who had fed them first and Jon so well, too. They approached a dangerous age, but as long as no one really bit, they were fine.

They spend a little while inside while she sensed Luna's nervousity growing, apperently missing the two of them already. It was then that a yawn escaped her, making Kalique wonder how late it had actually gotten. Time passed quickly here, this she had repeatedly noted, so she threw Jon a glance. "Should we head home?".

He watched as Kali worked with the wolves. While never having practiced with wild creatures such as this, Jon had quite a bit of experience working with animals. He was always impressed at the bond she shared with these creatures. He knew it had something to do with the Force, but it went beyond that.

"The joy of raising teenagers." he said with an eye roll after the slight commotion. They had come a long way since Kali had first brought them here, and they would need a lot more training, but it was a great experience to watch. He was glad he had the chance to help out as well. "Hey there, girl," he said as Ember approached him and nudged him. He reached and scratched under her jaw; she seemed to like that before he moved and scratched her ears. He smiled as Kali mentioned sensing the bond he shared with these creatures.

They finished a few things in the barn, making sure they were taken care of before Kali let out a yawn, causing Jon to glance over. It had gotten quite late, and they would have a busy day tomorrow. "Yeah, that sounds good.." he said, joining her at the entrance to the barn.

They secured the doors and could walk to the farmhouse. He let Luna, who had waited patiently in the speeder, out, and she followed them to the house. It had been nice to spend the day working the Kali; it felt like an actual home with her here. He shot her a glance as they walked up the stairs to the front door. His parents would already be asleep. It was far too late for them.

"You hungry? I can make you something really fast?" he offered, realizing that he had not eaten all day. "Or we can just go upstairs.." he said.

"For...real" Kalique was halfway interrupted by Chaos who came racing by, slightly bumping against her, but he immediately apologized himself with a sympathetic yelp and a slow tail wag. "Yeah you're better sorry" she shook her head slightly, before she looked back up to Jon.

Raising the whole pack was an absolute pleasure with him, but once they finished up, they soon made their way back to the house. Kalique slipped a hand inside his while Luna happily raced them to the house, obviously winning, as they didn't speed up. As they were finally inside, the familiar, cozy warmth of his parents house encompassed her gently which drew another smile from her.

"I'm...not even that hungry, surprisingly" she replied truthfully, even though she hadn't eaten all day either. Somehow, the rest of the day had kept her distracted. "Are you? I'm also fine with turning in and ensuring we'll eat well tomorrow" she suggested, her voice low in order not to wake his parents.

Kalique was excited for tomorrow, even if they had a pile of work in front of them, but it was pleasant work, given that it was for their house and she didn't doubt Luna would guard them while they were at it.

"Yeah, me either." he said. With the decision made, they headed upstairs. Jon quickly showered and got ready, already feeling the fatigue set in as they had wound down for the evening.

He certainly felt more relaxed now with the normally empty side of the bed filled. Even Luna curled up on the floor and was snoring quickly. How could such a small dog make so much noise?

Jon rolled over and turned off the lights a moment later. There was a comfortable silence. Jon was tired but didn't want to sleep. It felt like a waste of time now that she was here. "So what do you want to do for our two-day trip?" he whispered, rolling over on his side facing her.

They were showered and changed soon enough and Kalique let out a content breath as she finally plopped down next him. Luna got tired quickly and drifted off right away from the sounds of it and Kalique let out an amused scoff. "Guess it's time to adapt to some new noises..." she was hoping they'd still manage to fall asleep quickly.

As he rolled over to face her, she immediately wrapped an arm around him as she scooted closer. "Hmm..." they had plenty of options for a quick getaway and were mobile per se, but leaving Spintir would also come with a few disadvantages...

"Do you feel like getting off the planet or staying and just driving somewhere else?" she inquired softly, a wave of tiredness washing over her, but it wasn't too bad yet. The Wolves and Luna would be fine, but his parents would have to look after them again.

However, getting some quality time elsewhere would also come with certain perks she was sure they could use..so she decided to wait for his preference as she was fine with either.
