Severing Ties

[Tobian Solaris]

Tobian smiled as Tynian accepted the Kuatian's invitation to get out of the rain. The man gestured to where his ship is, "This way bud." He said while leading the way. When next to the ship he pulled the lever to open the side door. Once the loading ramp lowered Tobian led the way inside.

Taking his coat off Tobian looked to Tynian, "There's no one else here. Unless one of my sisters managed to sneak on board." He said jokingly as he closed the door. The rain splashing on the metal skin of the ship coming through like a dull, rythmed thuds. That were strangely soothing, "There is not much but it is cozy." He asked while leading the Jedi to the main room.

Wanting to make sure he really is alone the man poked his head into one of the two small rooms. The first one was empty but in the second.. He found his two younger sisters who are twins passed out on the bed. Earning a quiet laugh from the Imperial, "And.. Yup.. Two of my sisters snuck on board. Must have gotten in just as I was leaving." He said with a slight Kuatian accent, "No worries though. They can sleep through anything. And.. They think Jedi are cool so they won't say anything if you ask nicely."

The Kuatian slipped over to the small kitchen to see if he can find anything to warm them up, "Anyways.. Would you like a drink to warm ya up? I got whiskey, coffee, Felucian green tea.. Um.. Hot chocolate." He pointed out as he looked through the storage compartments to see if there is anything else stashed away, "Oh look Mandalorian whiskey. When did my mom get that?" He wondered getting the still sealed bottle out.

 

[Tynian]

“Tea, thank you.” Tynian replied. He took his cloak off and sat down. He felt the warmth of the ship’s heater taking away the cold, and relaxed a bit. “So when everything goes sideways, what are your plans?”
He asked just to see where Tobian’s real loyalties were placed. Not in a rude way, but more out of curiosity.

Tobian looked to the Jedi as he got some water into a kettle, placing it on the portable stove top, "Honestly Tynian. I am thinking that if everything does go side ways.." He didn't want to admit to admit that he is willing to abandon his post, nor the fact he has been thinking about doing such a thing, "I am planning to uproot my family and move them somewhere else in the outer rim. I heard of one planet where some are heading towards to get away from the Republic, the Hutt and the Empire. Supposedly some Jedi are heading there as well. But that is just a rumor."

The officer brought his friend some tea, placing the cup on the counter next to the Jedi Knight. He then poured himself a cup of tea as well. Seeing that he will be flying back home it is not a good idea to have too much to drink, "But.. I am willing and ready to go UA if or when that day comes...well more so when it comes. Even if that planet is just a rumor." He led Tynian to the main room where the two men can sit down that is closer to a heat source to warm up, there was a few things that Tobian wanted to tell the jedi. One of them being difficult to talk about while the other was one of the reasons he is willing to go UA.

 

[Tynian]

Tynian followed Tobian into the sitting area where the heater was. As he sat down, he sipped the tea, welcoming the warmth of it. "I sense you want to say more?" he asked him. "Do you need help in hiding your family? I would be willing to assist you in any way I can."

 

[Tobian Solaris]

Tobian looked to Tynian, leaning back in his seat, "Well.. With how you were able to jump me back there. I guess you have been following me since I got here." The man started, "And that includes following me to my old childhood home.. Events in that house are what led me to flee to Sith space and join the Imperial Foreign Legion. And because of that. Two reasons why there is possibly a death warrent on my head. One being for joining an enemy force. The other being because I killed my father, granted it was in the defense of my mother, but it still warrents either death or life in prison for it.. So I uprooted my mom and sister and took them to Rexus. After that she had my two twin sisters." Tobian sipped his tea slowly since it is still scolding hot, "The other is.. Just a week after Botajef I got with a woman. A one night stand thing and well she is pregnant with my child. So I am having to think about her safety and that of the child.. But it has made me think. A lot lately. Not just the event on Tython or the lightsaber."

The officer looked over to the Jedi, "And just as I said. I am willing to go UA if the Empire goes sideways. It's just that I am afraid of what might happen to my family if I do such an act. The Empire doesn't treat deserters kindly at all." The man said quietly as he put his cup down.

 

[Tynian]

Tynian thought for a moment, then set his tea cup aside. "If you are serious about going into hiding. I will help you. We can get you and your family away from all this. Start a new life away from the reaches of the Sith and all who stand with them." He leaned forward, looking Tobian in the eye. "I would promise that no harm would come to you or your family... but the choice is yours."

 

[Tobian Solaris]

Tobian listened to the jedi as the man looked him in the eye. The officer looked down to his cup of green tea. Wondering if he truly is ready to make such a move and face the concequences. Perhaps it would be best to only move his family and remain in the service. Rexus will surely be targeted by rebels since some of the soldiers of the Imperial Army came from there. Plus if he only moved his family it will look like he is not about to abandon his post. Of course moving his family and the locating will have to be quiet. So when things do go sideways, he can abandon his post without being found.

"I can't abandon my post just yet.. But it doesn't mean my family cannot be moved to a safe location. If those against the Empire carry out attacks. Places where soldiers come from will be targeted." Tobian started to speak when one of the two stowaway sisters came out sleepily walking over to him. Crawling onto Tobian's lap, "Then when things do go sideways. I will go to them.. Of course it means the move and location will have to be kept quiet." He finished explaining as his little sister Li looked across to Tynian shyly, "Say hello Li." The officer gently encouraged.

Li looked at Tynian and waved, "Hi!" She said shyly hiding her face in Tobian's chest.

 

[Tynian]

Tynian smiled at the little girl. “Hello, it’s a pleasure to meet you young lady.”
He hen looked back at Tobian. Knowing full well about how much family can mean to and dictate someone’s life.
“The location would be kept a secret, but with all the stuff going on lately, I’d suggest moving quickly rather than waiting. The longer you wait, the harder it would be to get away safely.”

 

[Tobian Solaris]

Li smiled at Tynian noticing his armor and looked up to her brother, "Is he.. A jedi?" She asked excitedly though still trying to 'hide'.

Tobian looked down to his sister and nodded, "Yes. But you must not tell anyone he was here and we were talking." The girl nodded quickly jumping off Tobian's lap and headed to the kitchen. The officer looked to the Jedi, "I understand that if I am going to move my family that it will have to be done soon.. Perhaps sooner with with how quickly things are moving." He watched Li come back with a cup of juice in her hands as she took a seat between the two men. She had heard everything the two were talking about, "He has been trying to talk our mom into moving. She won't listen. Big brother has been talking about it for a while." She told Tynian.

Tobian scratched the back of his head then got up, "Would you like anymore tea my friend?" He asked looking up as Akira joined them at the table, "Tynian this is my other sister Akira. She is Li's twin." He introduced wondering if Shir was on board as well, "Shir is force sensitive as well. If she is on board you might be able to sense her." He pointed out as the man popped into the kitchen. If all three are onboard he can easily relocate his sisters.

 

[Tynian]

Tynian shook his head when asked about more tea. But his ears perked up when hearing of someone who could be force sensitive. So he used the force to stretch out and see if anyone in the ship was like that. A small pinprick of a feeling reached back at him...
"I believe she is in the ship. And yes, she does have an affinity toward the force... albeit a small one. In the future it would be good to have her trained. Although I'd have to spend more time with her to find out just how strong she is, and which path she should take in her training."
Moving on from the force subject, Tynian thought for a moment. "I think we could find a place for them to hide... and for you as well. But it is risky."

 

[Tobian Solaris]

Tobian looked at Tynian knowing exactly where Shir is hiding on the ship, "A small affinity? You tell me that when she pushes you into a wall or uses the force to tackle you." He said with a small laugh, "Perhaps if we can hide my family you can give her some lessons to work on?" He asked having no idea what jedi training contained or what went on.

The officer frowned, "I won't be able to go into hiding yet. Not until things do go sideways.." He held a finger up when he heard Shir coming down the corridor from the cockpit. Guessing she went there because the twins were being noisy. Hiding out of sight the man grabbed his sister playfully as she walked past, "Ah! Tobian!!" She wailed between laughs as she struggled to get out of his grasp. When she got out of his hold the teenager looked at Tynian, "Who is this?" She asked not taking her eyes off the jedi.

"I think you know Shir." He said taking a seat.

"A jedi?" She asked then looked to Tobian, "I heard talk of moving. Why is that?" She asked looking between the two men expecting one of them to answer her.

 

[Tynian]

Tynian smiled at the young girl. "Nice to meet you Shir. And yes, we were talking about moving you and your family to a more secure location. Where it's safe from the Empire and what is to come." He figured honesty was the best route. And if she could use the force, she could possibly tell if he was "feeding her a line or not".

"I sense you have a gift for using the force. I would like to test you someday if that's ok... Although it can't be here. Too many people around the area may get a "whiff" of it and come to investigate. And we certainly don't want that."

 

[Tobian Solaris]

Shir looked to Tynian sensing that he was telling her the truth and so looked to Tobian, "Why do you want to move us again?" She asked confused, "You have been such a loyal officer so why now?"

Tobian sighed, "It is because I am worried about your safety. With the actions of the Empire including that of my own.. Well ai fear that fights and riots may break out. I will remain with the Empire but I want you lot safe. The Empire is not gentle when dealing with resistance fighters. I have seen it first hand. So I want to take you girls and mother somewhere safe from both the Empire's wrath and from Resistance fighters who may target you because of me." He finished explaining as he took a seat with a new cup of tea.

Shir looked to Tynian both pleased and a bit conflicted about the answers she got from the two men, "Yes I would like to do that Tynian. But where exactly will we go to do this test?" She asked curiously taking a seat between the two men.

"There are a few planets in the Outer Rim where people and other beings are gathering to escape the fighting that will break out soon. Tatooinne, Tanaab, and Dantoinne are a few of them." The officer leaned back in his seat, "Though personally Tatooine I think will be the ideal location. It is not as populated and I heard that some Jedi are gathering there.. If the rumors are true anyways."

 

[Tynian]

Tynian thought for a moment. “All those sound fine, but we need a place where even the Empire won’t want to look.”
He looked at Tobian with a seriousness like never before. “Kasshyyk. The under brush of Kasshyyk. It’s relatively safe, they can grow their own food there, your sister can train all she wants without fear of the Empire and it would be easier to get to and check in them if necessary.”
Tynian took a breath. “It’s not going to be an easy life. It is dangerous... but the Wookiee there would look after them as well. What do you think Tobian?”

 

[Tobian Solaris]

Tobian looked at Tynian as though the jedi had grown a second head or a visible third eye. Did the jedi lose his mind or forget who the officer's superior was? The Imperial Officer looked to his sisters thinking. It was not exactly the place he had in mind. But if Empire didn't look there for beings who are force sensitive and in turn Resistance fighters didn't attack there. Then his family will be safe from both.

Tobian looked back to the Jedi, "I don't like the idea.. Not because of the races that live there.. But my superior War Master Kalladrrl is from there and I imagine he visits often.. I think Kasshyyk will be a good place for the reasons you stated. If the Empire doesn't look there. Then any Resistance fighters won't as well. Hence my sisters and mother will be safe." He raised his hand to stop Shir from speaking up out of turn, "So. On that note. Kasshyyk it is. I know it will be a tough life. But they will be safe and prepared if anything does happen as far as fights breaking out or if anything happens to me."

Shir looked to her brother, "Do we get any say in this?" She asked not wanting to go to such a hostile place, "Wookies are dangerous Tobian."

Tobian looked at Shir, "No. As the man of the family I will make the decision.. It is my job to protect you. Every race has people who are dangerous Shir. Not just Wookies. Even I am dangerous Shir. I massacred people in the name of the Empress, Lord Evandrus and the Dark Lord." He told her not liking the fact he revealed a war crime to his friend and sisters. But it was to prove a point.

He looked to Tobian, "We will have to go get our mother first. Then head to Kasshyyk.. Will you be willing to tag along to help move them? I have gear we can use to hide your identity while we are on Raxus." He told his friend.

 

[Tynian]

Tynian nodded at his friend’s request. “I will help see this through. And make sure your family is safe. You have my word.”

 

[Tobian Solaris]

Tobian nodded, "Thank you Tynian. I will make sure no one figures out your identity and affiliation." He looked to his sisters, "And none of you will say anything." He said firmly to tell his sisters he is serious. The man stood up and stretched. Shir took the two men's dishes into the kitchen while the twins ran off to play hide and seek.

Tobian looked to Tynian, "Shall we head to the cockpit? We can talk some more there." The man led the short walk to the cockpit, "I am sorry about my sisters. I had no idea they were on board." He stated as he took a seat in the pilot's chair.

 

[Tynian]

Tynian took a seat in the co-pilots chair. “It was good that they were onboard. I think it works out better this way.”
The Jedi thought back to the beginning of the day... he was sent to arrest Tobian. Now he was helping his friend’s family go into hiding. The force did work in strange ways.

“So do you think your mother will be easy to convince about coming with us?”
