Shadowing programs were a fairly new addition to the ISB, and Imani was fairly sure it had something to do with the Sith Empire’s expansion. In order to continue their same level of efficiency in a larger area, they would need more people. It then made sense, of course, to try and pique the interests of those still enrolled in the academies. Today, that was Imani’s job. Two girls, Vahliri Kahtal and Maerae Verdans, if she remembered the names correctly, would be arriving at her office shortly to shadow her for the next few days. It was probably a welcome vacation from classes for Vahliri, if Dromund Kaas was anything like Korriban, at least. Imani was unsure of how things would go through. If she was interested in the bureau, things would go smoothly. For her own sake, the woman hoped she was because the last thing she wanted was to get stuck with a pouting, uninterested brat for the duration of this shadowing program. Maerae on the other hand should've signed up for this of her own accord, so hopefully she signed up for something she was interested in.

Vahliri, Vahliri, who's this Vahliri? The girl would be more than welcome to introduce herself once she arrived, but Imani had access to a whole database of information, and her school reports were within that range of access. She seemed to be a pretty good student. A near-perfect 4.0. Been in a fight or two. It was a given, considering her enrollment in a Sith academy. Even she’d gotten in a fight, though it had just been once and though she had started it, it'd just been a one time thing. The girl deserved the beat down, in Imani's opinion.

Maerae also did well in school, but had a clean record.

Knock, knock!

"Come in!" She was early too! Imani exited out of her database, then looked up as Vahliri and Maerae entered the room. The tiefling's office was small, but still large enough to have room to move around. There was a chair on the opposite side of her desk, and the room was sparsely decorated with a couple of photos. A family photo sat on her desk, and a couple photos of a farm and farmhouse hung on the walls, alongside her diploma from Korriban.

"Vahliri and Maerae, correct?" Imani's voice had the slightest sting of an accent, and it presented itself the most in the way she intonated her vowels.

Maerae Verdan wasn't sure that she deserved this opportunity, but she was determined to take it nonetheless.

She'd been extended an invitation to a new program, designed to help Sith Acolytes like her find a career within the ever-growing Sith Empire. In her case, she was assigned to work with the intelligence agency, the ISB. It had come to her as a surprise, honestly, that she of all people had been selected for this particular vocation: she who was good for brute force, and nothing more.

She certainly wasn't spy material.

Maerae understood that the ISB was more than just an intelligence agency, but most of the branches within it still worked covertly. With finesse. While she wasn't opposed to those things, Maerae just wasn't very... good at being clandestine. She'd make an decent Inquisitor, perhaps. But nothing more. It frustrated her, that she could see her own shortcomings so clearly.

And that was why she'd accepted. Because she had to be more. Wanted to be more. Considering that, an opportunity like this was simply too lucrative to pass up. This was a chance to make those changes, and to be more useful in serving the Empire. It was a chance to prove herself worthy of being Sith.

She entered the office, donned in her usual black robes, with her hands clasped behind her back. She gave her superior, a tiefling woman, a respectful bow and listened as the Sith addressed her.

"Yes, my Lord. I am Maerae Verdan."

Vahliri glanced down at her datapad one last time, pulling up her calendar to ensure that she wasn’t late to this particular appointment. The half-Anfynn couldn’t deny that she was actually feeling relatively excited for this opportunity to shadow a working member of the ISB, both a welcome break from her classes and a chance to further explore the bureau up close and personal. While she certainly wasn’t set on it as a career, Vahliri saw no harm in keeping her options open.

She wore a burgundy blouse and form-fitting pair of jeans, with a pair of boots to match. Her black hair was pulled back away from her face and into a braid, while the air around her was scented heavily with the half-Anfynn’s signature floral perfume. The half-Anfynn glanced back over her shoulder as she approached the door, flashing Maerae a smile. “Hey Mae!” She said, giving the fellow Acolyte a small wave of her hand. To her knowledge, they would be going through the shadowing opportunity together. “Good to see you again.” Vahliri had only met the girl back on that field-trip with Tiamat, but she was still a familiar face.

With that, Vahliri turned her attention back to the office door as they approached it - pausing for a moment before reaching forward to drum her knuckles against the surface twice. Within a moment the voice from within signaled for them to enter, and Vahliri opened the door and stepped inside.

“Yes ma’am,” Vahliri said a bit more formally, giving the Champion a small nod of her head as she stepped into the room. “I am Vahliri Kahtal.” While the half-Anfynn moved to stand in front of the desk, she couldn’t help but regard the woman before her. She blinked a few times, immediately picking up on the Tiefling’s striking resemblance to Altair.

Wait a minute.. Champion DIN?

Vahliri blinked, eyes immediately flicking over to the family portrait that was sitting on Imani’s desk. She squinted, searching through the seemingly endless horde of Tiefling’s until she eventually picked out both Imani and Altair from the bunch.

OH..

She didn’t allow her eyes to linger for very long, of course. After a split second she shifted back to staring at Imani, flashing the Tiefling a smile as she silently mulled over the realization - obviously to probably everyone except her until this precise moment - that she would be shadowing one of Altair’s siblings.
