Hi all—
Don't worry, I'm alive (though I can't say the same for our Moff and Dark Councils HA!). I figured, with all of the action and changes that have happened lately, it's about time for an official newsletter and an activity check. So, with that said, here's what's going on in the Empire:
[What's Hot?]
The Moffs. Literally. As most of you undoubtably are aware, the fifth meeting of the Moff Council was bombed recently, courtesy of @Wit (You're fired), killing eight PCs—both Moffs and Sith Lords. As you all might have guessed, that means we have a skeleton crew of Moffs and literally no members of the Dark Council. So, what's going to happen?
[Darths and Moffs]
The first thing that I want to stress is that those who died in the Moff Council thread will not be allowed to make Moffs or Darths right off the bat. Like it or not, Wit's plot took a lot of planning on his (and @Phœnix) part, and it would frankly be a disservice to their work to just automatically amend everything back to the way it was by letting everyone who died fill their old positions again. The impact that bomb had IC needs to be felt OOC, and so it shall.
So, what about the Moff and Dark Councils?
Living characters, particularly those who are already Sith (Warriors/Sorcerers/Inquisitors/etc) will be given the opportunity to fill these empty slots first. This will not be a first-come-first-serve thing. If you think your pre-existing Sith is qualified for a rank-up, you are to PM me with a 1) link to their character sheet and 2) the reason why you think they deserve a rank-up.
I will take each submission on a case-by-case basis. I'm looking for characters who have participated and completed missions, who are active, and have a decent amount of story built into their characters. You'll learn soon, I'm all about good stories!
Should that fail to fill up the considerable vacancies, then those who died in the Moff Council bombing will be permitted to seek a place in the power structure again. But wait—there's a catch. In the case of these characters, they will be fresh and untested IC, so I'm not just going to hand them a shiny new title—that would make for bad story. No—instead—if you want to get your old position back, you have to earn it: get involved with mission packs, ensure their completion, write some cool stories for the Empire, and we'll talk about ranking your new character up.
In the case of Darths, if the Council fills back up, and you want your old spot back (or just want a spot in general), then the aurak'kesh remains an option. A risky one, but an option nevertheless.
Which brings me to my next point—
[New AFL-elect]
As you all are aware by now, I am in the process of taking over the faction from @Relent. That means Darth Malon is vacating his position as Dark Lord of the Sith to become the Emperor IC.
Relent and I have talked, and we have both agreed that @Vinny would be the best choice to fill this post, making him officially an AFL-elect. While he is not officially an AFL yet, he will take a larger role in the faction until the admins are able to make the leadership change over. I expect him to be treated as an AFL in the meantime.
[Other Updates]
Moving forward, some changes will be made within the faction, but I hope they are changes that will make your experience as Sith faction members more enjoyable!
Vinny and @Gian Greydragon will each be in charge of Sith missions and Legion missions respectively, and will collaborate with one another on joint missions going forward. I, in the meantime, will continue to work on some more story-oriented mission packs, dealing less with conquest and more with character growth, and should be releasing the first pack or two within the coming weeks.
Lastly, sometime in the near future, expect to see a thread here in the Sith boards explaining how the chain-of-command will work for characters IC. I know there has been some confusion recently on how Sith ranks interact with Legion ranks, the authority of the Emperor's Hands, and where the Moffs are on the food chain, but all of that will be made clear in the coming days. I will likely link said thread in this thread, so, if this is something you want to keep your eye on, please follow this thread so that you receive an update when I post it!
The most important thing to note, at the moment, is the OOC chain-of-command. That is Emperor (FL) —> Dark Lord (AFL)/Warlord (AFL). The Grand Moff position is not intended to be an AFL, unless I need the extra help, so for now, the authority of that position is IC only—though, to whoever gets that post, I will expect the same standard of behavior and involvement from you that I do from the AFLs. Just a heads up :P
[Conclusion]
As always, guys, thank you for all of your hard work! Each of you continually put a great deal of effort into this faction and your characters, and I can't express enough how much I, and the rest of leadership, appreciate it. Keep up the good work (don't get blown up) and I'll see you guys around!
As always, you can message myself, Relent, Gian, or Vinny if you have questions and/or need help!
Malon
[P.S. Activity Check]
This thread also serves as an activity check. If you wouldn't mind, and if you are still an active Sith member, please post here and link your character(s) so that we can update the roster. Thanks!
