Hey guys, so as most of you have probably noticed, this TL has a much larger emphasis on PvP, which I think makes things more exciting, but for newer members (or older members that haven't done much by way of PvP) it can also be a bit intimidating. That's why I'm putting this up. It's an interest check in a quick PvP tutorial. The intention is to let some of you guys get a couple of pointers before being thrown into a thread with people actually trying to kill you. So logistics-wise:
How will it be run?
IC: The thread will be put on by my Sithie, Corvo and will consist of a short exposition on combat. From there, the class will be broken down into quick 1v1 sparring matches upon which Corvo will make comments and suggestions.
OOC: I'll be giving tips and tricks about how to get better and things that maybe should be done differently or that I'd personally do (yes, many of these will be done OOC, since the majority of actual skill in PvP is OOC). Be aware though, PvP is highly individualized, just because I might say "this is what I'd do" doesn't mean that's the only or even best way to do it, but it's always good to have another point of view. What does this mean for feedback? Even if you do something right, feedback will consist of more than just "good job." Even effective moves usually have room for a critique, which is what i'll be focused on.
Will this prepare me for all the fights I'll ever have?
lolno. Sorry, it just won't. This is about letting you get a couple of pointers under your belt in a low stakes environment. You will get your butt handed to in some fights. It happens to everyone, it's just part of learning.
How many people will be in the thread?
Ideally: four + me. An even number means I won't have to spar with anyone personally and can focus more on critiques, etc. 5+ is just too many people for a single thread and less than four is just kinda small.
Are there qualifications for joining?
Sign-ups are (more or less) first come first serve. Preference will be given to newer members and those who haven't fought much before. Other than that, obviously have a Sith character and be willing/able/ready to post regularly.
Will this be death/maiming/etc?
No. More details on exactly how damage will work later, but there will be no permanent injury from this thread.
Ok so that's everything I can think of off the top of my head, sorry for the many words but I wanted to address some of the potential FAQs here. If you're interested, just post here. Alright, scatter back to your #MAIMBURNKILL Sith ways
