Hey guys, so as most of you have probably noticed, this TL has a much larger emphasis on PvP, which I think makes things more exciting, but for newer members (or older members that haven't done much by way of PvP) it can also be a bit intimidating. That's why I'm putting this up. It's an interest check in a quick PvP tutorial. The intention is to let some of you guys get a couple of pointers before being thrown into a thread with people actually trying to kill you. So logistics-wise:

How will it be run?
IC: The thread will be put on by my Sithie, Corvo and will consist of a short exposition on combat. From there, the class will be broken down into quick 1v1 sparring matches upon which Corvo will make comments and suggestions.

OOC: I'll be giving tips and tricks about how to get better and things that maybe should be done differently or that I'd personally do (yes, many of these will be done OOC, since the majority of actual skill in PvP is OOC). Be aware though, PvP is highly individualized, just because I might say "this is what I'd do" doesn't mean that's the only or even best way to do it, but it's always good to have another point of view. What does this mean for feedback? Even if you do something right, feedback will consist of more than just "good job." Even effective moves usually have room for a critique, which is what i'll be focused on.

Will this prepare me for all the fights I'll ever have?
lolno. Sorry, it just won't. This is about letting you get a couple of pointers under your belt in a low stakes environment. You will get your butt handed to in some fights. It happens to everyone, it's just part of learning.

How many people will be in the thread?
Ideally: four + me. An even number means I won't have to spar with anyone personally and can focus more on critiques, etc. 5+ is just too many people for a single thread and less than four is just kinda small.

Are there qualifications for joining?
Sign-ups are (more or less) first come first serve. Preference will be given to newer members and those who haven't fought much before. Other than that, obviously have a Sith character and be willing/able/ready to post regularly.

Will this be death/maiming/etc?
No. More details on exactly how damage will work later, but there will be no permanent injury from this thread.

Ok so that's everything I can think of off the top of my head, sorry for the many words but I wanted to address some of the potential FAQs here. If you're interested, just post here. Alright, scatter back to your #MAIMBURNKILL Sith ways

Hey pretty much same as Braden. Been around but never really dipped into PvP, so some pointers would be great.

Awesome guys! Looks like sign ups are full then. I'll try to get the post up a little bit later today and I'll tag you all in it and post the link here!

If anyone else is looking to do this, and can't now that Phoenix's group is full and want someone else to help you out, i am willing to do a thread. Same as above, i'll open the threads to those of the SBZ as well who are looking to use blades.

I can't say that i am as experienced as Phoenix, as that would certainly be a lie. However i feel i can help people with the simple things and maybe answer questions you have.

EDIT: Also for the SBZ members that want some practice vs a non-FS character. (Yes those do exist) @Ecclessey has a cool scenario you guys could run.

Andromeda (or Captain Xeon as she is known to her military kin) will also be holding combat classes for the less experienced to boost their confidence. I plan on holding two, a theory class and a PvP class.

I'm thinking I could benefit from something like this. Especially using my sbz character against force sensitives with lightsabers.

Might throw Rhem into this if I can. If only so he can gain some insight on how good his follow Sith are.

I really like this idea, and I highly recommend everyone takes him up on this offer. This is the BEST way to familiarize yourself with pvp in this and other RPing sites. Because even though pvp is always just trying to kill another player's cahracter, each site has their own devices in how to go about it, and I know for a fact that Phoenix has experience enough to share how this is done on the site!

And above all, Good Luck everyone ;)
