[Soleil Altan]

The good news was that Soleil's board sped up a bit again after the first lap ended and the second began. The bad news was that it continued to be slow compared to the others. As loath as he was to pay full price for new things- old habits and all- he was seriously considering a replacement board by this point.

At least it made the actual flying easy, even while trying to mess with foot controls, whirring in the lazy circle of the racetrack. Maybe if he kicked off some of the extra bits the board'd stop being terrible and actually fly, assuming that's where the presumed short was. He also supposed it gave his sponsor some visible airtime, eh? Sol was sure they were happier about that idea than the Wrean's face looked, thoroughly ticked off and nearly kicking the control surfaces.

[Aden Archer]

Aden was able to keep on ahead, looking back he can feel his lead gaining and gaining, and he managed to get in the perfect spot where he would get a good gust of tailwind. It is usually rather windy on a gas giant but he would find his speed increase "Seize the wind" he muttered. The gap between him and second places is widening when they were just neck and neck a couple moments ago.

As Aden would cross the 2/3rds marker, he try showing off, already having some fun going at these high speeds like this. He would then rotate his board horizontally, to where his head would be pointing in at a nine'o'clock position. And after crossing it, he would do a full barrel roll maneuver. The maneuver is pretty dangerous and not for the untrained as one could fall off, but with his armor's mag boots activated and stuck on the skimboard, he was at little risk of falling off. At this point he's half way through the race, just keep this up... He would level his skimboardout and see how the rest are doing before turning his eyes forward.

[Maura Starwalk]

Maura continued forward, but her board began to spit and stall again. "No! Come on!" It didn't fail unlike last time, so she was able to keep moving forward, but her speed dropped and the kid nearly fell forward off the board. Everyone else continued on without her, and she felt frustration set in.

"Keep going! Stupid thing!" The girl stomped on the board, but it did little to increase its speed.

[Soleil Altan]

As he watched others continue to move ahead- except Maura, whose board also seemed to be having repeated issues- some spark of competitive spirit drove Sol to actually try something unrelated to his board's controls. He leaned down, keeping balance, and gripped the PIPE-esque thruster bit on his board. During a turn he wrenched hard, the whole board going into a wide corkscrew maneuver.

The piece itself detached and fell down through the clouds. There was a brief moment of sparking before Sol stomped down irritably atop main thrust control. All at once the previously struggling repulsors fired to life and he shot forward, nearly losing balance and waving his arms gracelessly. Another bit of maneuvering got his balance back and he crouched down, a grin lighting up his face.

Finally, he was moving! Now if he could just keep that up...

[Zayn Talis]

Despite his hopes, Zayn found himself consistently unable to gain an edge to pass Aden. The Corellian Padawan didn’t catch the same tailwind as the pilot, and began to lag behind as a result - eliciting a muttered expletive in response.

“Come on!” He groaned, attempting to pick up the pace to close the distance with Aden

He briefly glanced back over his shoulder - catching sight of Maura and Sol far behind. While the Corellian Padawan had fallen solidly into second place for the time being, he was - at least for now - not concerned about being passing up by either of them.

[Aden Archer]

It looks like Aden didn't come out of those fancy manuevers as gracefully as he thought, as soon as he would recenter himself he his board would be serving and he would be losing control of it. That was a pretty significant loss of speed for him, although his lead was comfortable, he didn't want to lose any of it if he could help it.

It would take a few moments then Aden would be stablized on his skimboard, he would look back to see how much the others gained ground on him. Maura and Sol not so much, Zayn significantly so though, but still Aden is in the lead. He would look forward again and he finished the second lap.

Now onto lap three, the race is almost over.

[Soleil Altan]

Much like Aden, Sol's brute force correction of his skimboards functionality and the accompanying maneuver cost him speed and balance shortly after, although for a slightly different reason. While he was now keeping pace with the other two, tearing off that bit of board messed with the board's balance.

Going into a wide turn, he was forced to slow and correct his stance to avoid going into an unintended spin. Then again, he wasn't so far behind Zayn anymore. Sol waved at Zayn when he looked behind him, the two now closer than Aden was to Zayn. If Sol could pull off another burst of speed, maybe some clever flying, he could potentially pull ahead. He certainly hadn't given up just yet!

[Maura Starwalk]

Maura kept stomping on her board, her frustration mounting higher and higher, but suddenly the thing sped forward. It took a serious balancing act for her to keep her stance, but her frustrated scowl turned into a smile of pure glee as she raced forward. She was still behind, but catching up quickly now!

"Finally!" Maura bent her knees, lowered her head, and threw her arms backward to decrease air resistance and up her speed. Maybe she had a chance of catching up!

[Zayn Talis]

At least for the moment, Zayn managed to keep his position within the race - just barely trailing behind Aden, while simultaneously keeping a health lead over both Maura and Sol. Nevertheless, the Padawan didn't fail to notice the fact that they were both, finally, starting to pick up some speed after repeated malfunctions with their skimboards.

While his board continued to move forward, Zayn twisted his torso and glanced back at Maura - flashing the fellow Padawan a peace sign and wide, friendly grin - that bit of playful competitiveness bleeding in as he faced the colorful Padawan. He similarly flashed Sol a smirk, gaze lingering for only a moment before facing back ahead.

The Corellian Padawan veered towards the center of the arena and took the turn a bit tighter than the others - hoping to gain a bit more speed and close the distance between himself and Aden.

FINAL LAP BEGINS​

 

[Aden Archer]

"Come on" Aden muttered to himself as there was a slight panic in his voice. He lost a bunch of speed very recently and his board has gotten a tad slower. He's still in the lead for now but he'd rather have a more comfortable lead rather than barely scrapping it. He'd rather go fast than go slow too.

Aden would then cross the start again, now it's the final lap. Just one more full loop around Cloud City and the race is then over. If he maintains his lead he will be the winner. Looking back Zayn has gotten closer than he was previously. He's the one who is threatening the starfighter pilot's lead the most.

Now setting his eyes forward, he would press on his board and hopes his board will go fast again. Hopefully.
