Seems like a lot of functionality for something the size of a ear bud. If micro-technology like this is possible, why are droids so large? Why have full-size droids at all?

Also, you might wanna change the picture. Using one with a genuine real world logo on it isn't just bad form, but can cause copyright and legal issues for the site. Which we'd wanna avoid.

(And yes, I checked, Phonak is a genuine real world company)

Per Vencu here. There's no way you could fit a droid brain for a protocol droid into a shell tiny enough to fit comfortably behind an ear. The only comparable compact translator droid is this little thing that was built for Chewie's son, Waroo, but it's damned near impossible to find any information on it outside of a couple source books. (I have one, but I can't find it to save my life.)

I'd suggest simply making a combined comlink / http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Personal_translator device, maybe with an expanded memory bank so it can contain an extra language or two. It'd be much less hassle, and it's far more doable than what you've got here.

It'd also depend on how many languages this thing supposedly knows.

The miniaturized Protocol Droid Lowbacca wore, which was essentially just a very flat protocol droid head, only knew Basic and Shyriwook (though was later upgraded with six more), and that was personally programmed by C-3PO whom knew -alot- of different languages.

The core issue (for me) is that this thing reads like it's basically just an itty bitty C-3P0 that sits behind your ear, which doesn't sit well with this tiger. I'd be a lot more comfortable with it if it were cut down to a fairly straightforward translation device, rather than some complex gizmo that offers 'complete protocol droid services'.

If it were only a translator, I wouldn't have any more issue with it than I'd have with a talking toaster.

...

That gives me an idea. Mwuahahaha~

Alrighty guys thanks for the input! I rewrote most of it. Is it still too far fetched?
