"Why do you think they are all going to die?!" she hollered back at him, "I want them to THINK AND LEARN!" she gritted her teeth, contorting the ground around his ankles, "They CAN'T do that if you're ALWAYS saving Oomf-!"

Tiamat felt the Force hitting her in the chest, it was enough to make her catch her breath and to release the hold she had on the jungle. She stumbled backwards, but wasn't done yet, "I'm sick of your shit too!" she quickly retorted back, it wasn't snappy or clever, but it was honest; his ego always sent him flying off to the next, and if someone was in trouble he was there to swoop up, to prove something, or earn the admiration of others. In the moment she didn't care if she thought too much about herself, there was a time when she didn't care at all and it made her weak.

The Force extended from her fingertips, wrapping around the tiefling's legs as she looked to halt his march onward, "You know that is not true. I care, and I care about my Sith being able to stand against adversaries and not worry if they need someone to swoop in to rescue them." she hissed, "If they choose not to survive, then they choose death."

Vahliri allowed herself a single breath of relief - watching as the first Nexu convulsed and collapsed onto the jungle floor. Molten agony radiated out from her arms and upper body - blood flowing from where the Feline’s claws had sunk into her flesh. The pain was worse in the left side of her body - previous injuries only amplified by getting trucked by the several-hundred-pound-predatory.

Her eyes flicked over to Llolith, watching as the Acolyte struggled to keep herself on two feet. The half-Annfyn opened her mouth to speak - to offer gratitude for the help she had offered. Before she could do so, Vahliri’s fluted ears flattened against the sides of her skull - picking up on the sound of movement just past the girl. Her eyes narrowed at once - the Force channeling into the palms of her hand through instinctive response.

Just as the male Nexu leapt through the air, Vahliri grasped the feline by the torso - invisible tendrils of energy coiling around its body and squeezing tightly. “Move!” She yelled to Llolith, taking a single step forward and towards the suspended animal.

The half-Annfyn tore her arm violently to the right - sending the Feline harshly into the trees just adjacent to them. A sickening crush echoed through the jungle around them, followed by a high-pitched yelp of pain from the feline. It wasn’t dead. Not quite - but it was injured and dazed for the moment.

“Get up,” She said towards Llolith, briefly glancing down at the nine-eyed Acolyte. Whether the girl managed to do so or not, Vahliri straightened her stance towards the Feline - prepared to engage with it once again and finish the job.

Altair felt the Force coil around him and he landed with a heavy thud on the ground. The tiefling groaned in pain, clawing at the sand as he heard her speak. He growled as he heard her words and he interjected halfway through, “I WASN’T THERE FOR CAIRO!” Altair shouted at the top of his lungs, slamming his fists into the ground, “I wasn’t there…..I wasn’t there… he’s probably rotting in a ditch somewhere and I’ll never know,” His voice cracked as he tried to fight the tears that threatened to fall.

“I do it because no one survives alone..” He said much quieter this time, exhaling, “I do it because I don’t wanna become like that scientist whose lab we found in the woods…where she lost her mind after she sacrificed others to keep pursuing her work,” Altair spoke through gritted teeth as he attempted to climb out of the hole. Tiamat would remember that moment exactly from one of their first adventures. As a Sith he wanted allies and he didn't want a life of solitude.

“I don’t do it for fucking glory,” He glanced at her with a glare, anger building in him once more.

Just before the feline might have torn into her face, it paused mid-pounce. Llolith didn't have to guess at who for multiple reasons, especially as Vahliri shouted at her to move. The acolyte did her best and moved as quickly as she could just in time for the champion to make her move. She said something else to Llolith that she didn't quite catch before walking off toward the nexu again.

"Come on," she encouraged herself. The acolyte pulled the Force into her body one more time, using it to strengthen her muscles and pull herself upright. She could feel the heat of blood on her leg where the bandage had been soaked through, but she kept moving forward, following Vahliri toward the beast.

She didn't have her saber, and she didn't know any fancy force techniques like lightning. So upon reaching the beast, she brought it down as quickly as she could over the nexu's head, aiming to jab the stick right into and through the creature's largest eye before it could recover and lunge at her.

She heard the pain in his voice as he called out his regret, his inability to be there for his best friend, and now the unknown of his fate. For a moment, she felt herself grow jealous, more so at the fact she never had someone who was so passionate about his friends as Altair would be. It pained her...no, a part of her, a part she viewed as weak who went by a name she has not muttered in years. A part of her that seemed to trust Altair with her own passion and secrets in her most vulnerable moments. A part of her that could not be here as she dug her finger nails into the palm of her hand, a reminder of the physical pain that still lurked from the boat crash.

Altair would feel the force release him, Tiamat stood ready for whatever he tried next as he explained himself further. No one survives alone...

That was the biggest lie, if only she had someone to help her, would she had suffered as she had? Tortured by jedi and the republic, by the eternal, by the hands of those she even thought were there to care for her... Then there were the moments when she would try to care for others and her experience has told her, eventually they will tire of her, try to kill her, or see her as a monster. She would contemplate it later in meditation. She felt vulnerable in her own thoughts, and her features hardened once more.

The sand would still, and he would be able to climb out as he admitted his fear. A fear of solitude? To go mad? She remembered how disturbed he was after picking up one of the woman's journals, it was a fear of her own, but as he said to her she had a choice, just like he had a choice too. Was this the path he had to take though? Friends? Frenemies? She circled him, but kept her distance, ready to strike again if he tried to help the others. But then she stopped in front of him, her gaze locking with his.

"As much as Sith become paranoid, there is a matter of trust, trust your allies, trust your friends, trusting your enemies will kill you. You can help them by not rushing to them. Let them discover their strengths, let them discover their weaknesses, just as you are now. Many of us have survived alone, it doesn't mean our destiny is set for disaster."

She really wanted him to listen at this point, it brought her unhappiness knowing that she would probably scuff his horns if he continued to push.

Altair stopped struggling after a while, breathing heavily. He had command of the Force, but he was nowhere near as skilled as Tiamat. The tiefling was drenched in sweat from the struggle and he collapsed against the ground in exhaustion. It angered him that he was here dealing with this instead of helping people out on the beach. He heard Tiamat speak and he had to bite back the urge to simply Force push her back into a tree. In truth, he was beyond tired and he breathed heavily.

Was she really giving him a lesson in being a Sith in the middle of a crisis? Altair exhaled a few times before he slowly looked up at her from the ground. He stopped struggling by then, sweat dripping down his face.

“What do you want me to do, Tia?” He asked in between ragged breaths, “Stay here with you and pretend there ain’t people hurt or struggling just a few feet away?” Altair didn’t understand her. She never made any sense to him. Why did this matter to her at all? Why was she so hellbent on stopping him?

Caerllion watched the Nexu burn. At least his use of Korriban magick had worked. Unfortunately, the creature was burning while moving against Caelian that was still in the ground. That was unfortunate, but at least they were going to kill the animal. Hopefully the Echani would not be mangled during the process. If not, well the Annfyn wasn’t going to cry because of that.

Then, Nova also started to attack the creature by using an impressive display of Force lightning. The Nexu was twitching in pain, stopping from going to attack Caelian. Caerllion saw in disbelief the Echani use the Force to throw shells at the animal. If it was the best that he could do, then he really deserved to be eaten.

Since the Nexu still had flames on his body, Caerllion focused the Force on them. Using his frustration for not being allowed to sleep and rage for being lost in a desert island, the Acolyte made the flames increase in size. Soon they burst, covering the entire body of the creature.

While it burned alive, the Nexu made a sound that was a terrible mixture of a scream and a roar. Meanwhile, Caerllion constantly muttered the word burn, his voice becoming loud while the flames increased. He would only stop when the creature fell dead in the ground.

"We can't pretend people are not hurting, it happens more often than we realize, whether its a few feet to few hundred lightyears, it is the order of things, and will always be." she spoke softly, watching him succumb to his own limits. He was covered in sweat, breaths labored, it pained him to stay where he was. She knelt down, wanting nothing more than to cup his face in her palms as she lifted her hands, but instead rested them on her knees, letting her broken wrist fall more gently limp against her skin.

"Life is full of suffering." she started, "Its not a matter of can you, its a matter of must. Breathe, feel, for there will be a time your enemies will destroy what you love and you will be helpless then, but you have to remain strong." Tia explained, the words of the Rangers telling her after her parents were killed, remain strong, they would say. She could still feel the heavy hands on her shoulders of the passing Rangers as they spoke. Her heart beat a little faster as she quickly pushed away the memory, somehow the tiefling did well to pull her back to another time.

She let a silence settle, the screams were less of shock and surprise as the others worked to fight off the nexu on the beach. "Stay please, Altair." she whispered, closing her eyes and breathing deeply.

The Nexu's mighty roar soon turned into a tortured shriek that was mixed by a panic-stricken hiss. There was an odd satisfaction in seeing the huge, fearsome creature burn and twist under her lightning.

If it hadn't been for their perfectly timed and effective teamwork, they would have been Nexu food by now. The flames had already started to consume the powerful beast before the lightning had incapacitated it. And yes. There was also Caelian...and his...shell attack?

Unable to stifle a laugh, her own panic was at least forgotten after the Echani had demonstrated his powerful display of the shell magic. "The shells have definitely given him the rest!" she remarked enthusiastically, but with a thick trace of sarcasm as she started to massage her temples.

It seemed like the first Nexu was dealt with, but they still weren't out of danger yet. The brunette glanced around with a sigh, hazel eyes soon fixed on Wodan who was trying to shoo another Nexu away. Despite her pain, she started charging towards the Nexu, arms outstretched and loudly shouting "Get out! Run you stupid bastard or we'll grill you too!".

She had no idea whether the Nexu was intimidated by her display, or its flame and lightning roasted friend, but there was suddenly a glint of fear in its eyes before it reluctantly began to retreat.

Despite the pain that coursed through the entirety of her body, Vahliri stood defiantly on her feet - teeth barred and gaze locked onto the dazed Predatory. She knew it was injured, but it was only a matter of split moments before it lunged once more - and it gave both herself and Llolith a small window to act first. The half-Annfyn’s amber gaze flicked onto the nine-eyes Acolyte, watching as she valiantly charged forward and jammed the end of her walking stick into one of the Nexu’s far-too-many eyes. The animal shrieked in agonized fury - maw opening wide as its roar let forth a spray of spittle and previously-chewed remains right into the Acolyte’s face and torso. Such was the risk of getting right in the face of the predatory to land such an attack, but it was effective to say the least.

Vahliri didn’t hesitate any longer - stepping forward with a single hand extended in front of her body. The Force billowed forth at her command - Darkness swelling within her body and expending out through her fingertips. Within a split second, a burst of concussive energy erupted from the ground just beneath the Nexu’s four feet - tearing through sturdy roots, stone and anything else that found itself within the blast zone. Shattered fragments of rock and wood blew outward from beneath the feline - accelerated by the blast to become shards of shrapnel, effortlessly tearing into the Nexu’s underbelly and vulnerable flesh. It ripped right through fur, hide and internal organs - eliciting a pained cry and splosh of blood that began pouring out from beneath its legs.

Due to the position of the blast and the sheer size of the creature, Llolith was completely spared from any damage - entirely absorbed by the Nexu’s body to lethal effect.

A single moment ticked by before the Feline collapsed to the jungle floor like the other - remaining blood pooling out from its injuries as its body went stiff. There was no question if it was dead, and Vahliri wasted no time to step forward - playing a hand on the Acolyte’s shoulder and giving her a once over. “You’re alright?” She asked with a tilt of the head. They wouldn’t have much time before Vahliri picked up the sounds of commotion behind them, and she wasted no time breaking away to address it. “The others,” She said simply, starting to hobble off in that direction.

“Where’s Altair and Tiamat!?” She called out, amber eyes immediately flicking around the landing area.

Altair stopped struggling as Tiamat spoke. His brows furrowed in confusion and he stopped to look at her. He couldn’t make out what was going through her mind - it was as if two different sides were clawing at her at once. He almost saw sadness in her eyes and it gave him pause. He was even more surprised when she seemed to outright plead with him to stay.

“Tia..” He eyed her for a moment, “Are you gonna keep hurtin’ me just because I wanna help them?”

He wouldn’t move until she answered, but she would see the shock and hurt in his eyes, “I ain’t ever gonna be like Raze…..or you..” He added quietly. As defiant as he sounded, he couldn’t help the doubt he felt inside. Could he truly promise he wouldn’t change? The Dark Side empowered him, but he knew it began to change him in ways he didn’t realize till after the fact. He had no intention of turning from the Sith path, but was he prepared to face the costs?

Llolith stood above the creature, walking stick still firmly gripped in both hands above its mutilated head, with her chest rising heavily up and down. "It's dead." Its fur was singed in some parts, caked with blood in others, and altogether just wrecked. "Mom would get on my ass so bad if this was back home." Llolith chuckled, then winced, and then winced again when Vahliri placed a hand on her shoulder.

"I'll be fine," she answered. Her leg wound had reopened - she could feel the blood on her leg - and her entire body was screaming at her to lie down, but she wasn't lying. Life was hard. Her people wouldn't survive if they couldn't take a beating now and then. "We should-" Vahliri beat her to the thought. "Yeah."

The acolyte followed after the champion, albeit at a much slower pace, using the blood-soaked walking stick to try and keep a bit of pressure off her leg. She stopped at some point though, once she realized Vahliri was headed toward the beach, but the Anfynn was gone before Llolith could call out, "Wait, I think someone's- nevermind." Hoping the woman's sensitive ears would catch it anyway, Llolith turned and limped off in a separate direction.

"No, bad idea." Her instincts flared up, warning her against going alone further into the forest while alone and injured.
●
"If they're not out here, they're probably further into the forest," Llolith muttered to Vahliri once she rejoined her on the beach. "I mean, it hasn't been long. They can't be too far." She certainly wasn't going to go look for them though. Instead, the girl shielded her eyes with one hand while she surveyed the others. Seemed the nexu found them, too.

"Can someone help me rebandage my leg?"

Caelian had been fortunate that the nexu that launched itself into their little group hadn't been really able to significantly advance on him after its savage attack on Nova. The team work between the trio had ensured the beast was put down promptly, albeit not before its fangs and claws had an opportunity to tear into Nova. Whether it was adrenaline or that she was just one tough warrior, it didn't seem to slow her down much as he watched her spring into action to aid Wodan and Arla against their opponents.

For his credit, Caelian attempted to follow after them, however with the state of his ankle he wasn't able to travel very quickly, and it took some painful steps to reach where they had been earlier before the ambush broke out. Before he was able to render assistance with the others, he heard some others re-emerging from another part of the beach, one of whom called out for assistance.

Caelian weighed his options and considered that the three relatively able-bodied Sith would be able to deal with the nexu without having to worry about his injured self. Instead, he opted to answer the call of Llolith, waving her over before painfully walking towards the nearby medpack and rummaged through it in search of a bandage that would be suitable and some disinfectant.

Moving in her direction until they met in the middle, he motioned for her to take a seat while beginning the task of replacing the bandage. There was still a risk of another random nexu jumping out of the jungle and ambushing the pair of injured Sith. Caelian quietly looked up from his work and suggested a little out of breath, "Can you keep an ey...err watch out in case they try sneaking up on us?"

Damn it Caelian, he thought, keep it together.

One of the Sith on the beach waved her over, and she came as prompted. Llolith wasn't familiar with whoever this was, but they were all in the same situation and beggars shouldn't be choosers. He had white hair, like her, but looked a good handful of years older.

"Yeah, sure thing," she answered in between gritted teeth. It was becoming harder to see in the sun now that some of the fog had cleared away, so she raised a hand to shield her main eyes while closing the rest. Caelian would find that the previously-dressed wound was covered in thick, blue blood that was only partially congealed and scabbed over. "Wrap it as tight as you can," the acolyte asked, still in between gritted teeth.

In the meantime, Llolith did keep an eye on the forest line she and Vahliri had come out from. If there were any more nexu, she certainly couldn't hear or feel their approach, but she had no idea how big the typical pack was.

She studied him in silence, her lips pursed together tightly as she felt her jaw tense again. She was hurting him? The accusation was hurtful to her, and it confused the woman as she questioned how he didn't understand this unorthodox lesson. The woman opened her mouth to correct him, to remind him a sith is to grow stronger through their pain and to let others survive in the way they know best. Even if it meant to leave them to their own devices to do so without intervening.

"Why do you give them that power over you?" she whispered, turning her gaze away from him and closed her eyes, her own breathing coming under controlled breaths as she worked to soothe her own frustration not only from him and the others, but the inner turmoil she was facing. Though when he spoke again, she was taken a back, losing her words for a moment and keeping her from immediately interjecting. Her brow furrowed in a mixture of annoyance and shock, not be like Raze or herself? So many questions floated through her mind as to what he meant by that, she could understand the Raze portion, he is an enigma of his own. However, herself, what was wrong with her?

Pain trickled from the center of chest and outward, it felt like rejection, and it hurt, more so because she was unprepared for it. She wanted him to be stronger as a sith, he would not achieve that if he was always rushing to rescue others. She didn't want him to be like her or Raze, she just wanted him not to be at the mercy of Raze if he ever made a mistake. Wasn't that caring for someone? For others? They were all a part of the Sith, this is what it meant even if they were stranded on some island. She felt herself digging into the gouges she had sustained on her thigh from the boat accident with her fingernails. The physical stinging was enough to draw her attention and her gaze as she watched blood pool around her fingertips. "That's fine, be the fuck whoever you want to be." she hissed, "If you want to hurry back, fine! Go." she ordered, "GO." she demanded to ensure he picked himself up and ran back to the others.

She needed a moment with her thoughts, to organize and process more later. She knew what she felt was different, not the same as she had with Emryc, or with Crix for a while. He allowed her to be...well, herself, but now it sounded like there was something about herself he disapproved of, he rejected from what he valued and she had shared so much. There was question if it were a waste, if she saw something and misjudged, allowing herself to be vulnerable, to feel it too, and for what in the end?

The idea that she was just a decent fuck made her feel disgusted.

Caelian got to work pulling off the old, soiled bandages, which revealed the bloodied injury underneath. So far it didn't look too bad, err well he guessed anyway. Her bluish blood was a strange sight, but it appeared to behave similarly to what he was familiar with, at least, but there was no telling what her pain tolerance would be other than by finding out. "I'm Caelian by the way, I'm hoping the blue blood is normal for your species yes? Or are you some kinda royalty?" Well, that was an old wives tale, but it was a funny thought he considered.

Discarding the older bandages to the side, the Echani opened the disinfectant bottle and begun pouring a little against her wounds to clean and prepare them for the new threads. "Oh yeah, that might sting." he added posthumously with a barely concealed laugh. Fortunately, it seemed like most of the fighting was happening elsewhere, and they hadn't noticed anything headed their way yet. Caelian hoped it would remain so, but sort of remained on edge after the earlier fright.

A few had been off the beach for a while and hadn't yet returned, a certain fiery red head and horned companion. Caelian looked over his shoulders but didn't spot either of them, casually asking Llolith, "I'm not sure what's scarier, a pack of nexu or a hungry Master Tiamat, but I'd hate to find out eh?" His question was meant to distract her as he slipped his hand above her leg wound and began drawing on the force to summon an intense heat. If she didn't move out of the way, he would attempt to cauterise the wound in an instant, not considering the risk that it wouldn't work as intended.

Fortunately, it seemed like they had dealt with the Nexu for know, but they were still far from being safe in any way. They were still stranded on a forsaken island in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by hungry, feral cats and weird sea creatures like seen before and well...they were also injured.

The adrenaline had done a great job in letting her forget about her own pain, but it seemed like she was rather well off with her headache anyway, as others were literally missing limbs. Llolith didn't seem too well herself, but Nova wasn't exactly sure how to feel about Caelian helping her, especially because she was still convinced he was suffering from the side effects of a heavy concussion.

She watched the two of them for a second, narrowing her eyes in an annoyed manner before she picked up his jokes. She could immediately feel a subtle hint of rage spreading inside her, but she knew they had more important things to focus on. "Yeah yeah, sure. We don't want to see Tiamat mad, so let's gather some wood and get a fire started" she bluntly said to the two of them before she flicked her gaze back onto the spoiled, tall pointy eared boy. "Caer, Caelian, you think you can manage to carry some stuff" she adressed both men know, knowing that Llolith would probably stay seated for a while. "Wait, Wodan, you're good to right? Maybe we can even gather some food..." she then added with a nod to the other acolyte.

Altair climbed out of the hole he began to sink into. He heard her speak but he didn’t answer immediately. He could see a strange sort of sadness in her but he couldn’t place why. Did doing this to him upset her? Why did she do it then? Anytime Altair attempted to understand her, she withdrew back into the confines of her mind into a place he couldn’t reach.

The tiefling stood on his feet and breathed heavily for a moment, wiping sweat off his brow. Altair looked towards the path into the beach, a part of him telling him to bolt while he had the chance. There was a silence that fell throughout the forest and he could faintly hear chatter from the beach. If he was hearing that, it meant the nexu threat was addressed for now.

Altair instead looked towards Tiamat, watching the way she withdrew into herself again. He quietly walked towards her, placing a hand on her shoulder.

“I ain’t gonna leave you behind either,” Altair said quietly, reaching down to remove her hand from where she was picking at her injury. He tilted his head to look at her, “I care about you too,” Altair said with a faint smile touching his lips, “Do you suddenly feel more power coursing through you knowin’ that?” He quirked a brow as he looked at her.

Tiamat sat in stillness, thinking he would follow her orders and leave, however, she should have known better in his stubbornness. She could feel him turning his gaze back to her, her own eyes focusing on the sandy path where they had stopped. He chose not to leave despite her desire to be left in solitude; she felt a hand on her shoulder, tensing under the touch despite her trust for him. Altair reassured he would not leave her behind either, and immediately Tiamat wanted to protest, she listened instead, allowing him to take her hand and she looked up to meet his violet eyes.

His words sounded distant, like she was listening from miles afar; Tia wanted to speak, to remind him who she was, her warning to him about getting burned still held true. Yet he cared, as he would state, but she felt odd not being able to feel it, in fact, she felt nothing in that moment. Even as he asked her about the power she felt knowing it, there was no power. It wasn't weakness either, only hallowed, a shell. Tiamat felt empty, locking herself deeply away for the time being and when she needed to feel, it was not available. A part of her pulled on the idea that he genuinely cared, and it was hard to find evidence to negate it.

She really did want someone to care for her and to hold her closely in her most vulnerable of moments. Now was not the moment, and instead wanted more than anything to wrap herself in a thousand layers or to fling herself to the other side of the galaxy. More than anything, she felt conflicted and just wanted Altair to understand. With her face void of any emotion, she stood up without another word, brushing the sand off her bottom and walked silently along the trail back to the beach to where the others would be.

"Just a bit," she said, half laughing, half not. She was tired, and her leg wasn't the only thing sending pulses of pain through her body. It was just the worst of them all. "I-

"Woah! Woah woah woah!"
The burning heat of fire licked across her skin, and the acolyte all but jumped straight back. "What the hell are you doing?" Was he trying to cauterize her wound? Here? Now?
