They specifically chose a young actor because they want Spider-Man to be in high school, which is where most Spider-Man stories start when they're starting from the beginning.

I'm a huge Spider-man fan, been that way for most of my life. Loved the original Tobey Maguire movies (but not the schlock and disappointment that was the third) and I loved the Andrew Garfield remakes.

I haven't heard anything about Tom Holland, but seeing how he is 19 and looks fresh out of high school, it looks we're getting another origin story. I'm not too pleased with that. We've already had two other origin stories.

Yeah I'm a bit played out on Spidey's origin story too but if they're doing a definitive reboot it's kind of required, I suppose.

Hopefully this new reboot can make Spidey cool again, he's mostly lost his appeal to me over the years with all of the various incarnations. I don't know much about Holland but hopefully he and the writing staff can bring back the snarky, trolling teenage crime-fighter that I think Spiderman is and always should be.

That's the one thing that I was miffed about in the Tobey Maguire movies, and thus why I preferred Andrew Garfield's. Spidey supposed to be smart-mouthed. Not angsty.

Unless they take the character in a radically different direction I can't say that excites me much more than an origin story. The casting doesn't really fill me with hope that they're going to do anything more than what we've already gotten really. It just seems very tired, played out, and uninspired to keep going with generic high school white guy who becomes a superhero.

Not a rumor. It was confirmed. He'll be there, but to what extent is anyone's guess at this point.

I like every spider man movie (except the one with Venom), so I hope they keep, sIdey a fresh character. Feel bad for Garfield though, poor guy was Spidey for only two movies. Hopefully this Holland guy can deliver as convincing a Spidey and Andy :)
