I don't like it here.

1) I suggest denying more tech. 80% of stuff that makes it on the board is just another shade of grey and that's the shit that makes the boards slow.

We don't need sixty types of basically the same ship that an indie faction could use, because all those buggers already make their own tech and the main factions sure as hell ain't gonna bother. Same goes for guns and armor. 'generic' isn't a degorative term that automatically makes your armor bad, hell, it probably has less downsides than those on the approved tech board because some special function forced them to balance it out.

Want your name slapped on some piece of tech others can use? Let your signature link to your workshop.

2) Espionage mang. Hella complicated. Shouldn't be. Even as a lover of some good espionage I don't have a single clue what the rules are anymore. Chevin

3) I applaud the limited troops battle system. The Invasion of Coruscant pre-TS was ridiculous and ruined anything that could've come close to an interesting naval encounter because people were spamming and controlling 100+ ships in barely ten lines of text.

I both agree and disagree with this sentiment. On the one hand, denying a tech because there is a similar one elsewhere isn't always possible, especially faction specific tech or one of a kind tech owned by a single person. Now, if there was a way to make it so a more off-brand version of tech could be made of these types of tech that was free to use by everyone, then I'd agree with you. If we went that route, one possibility is to RP it out where one faction can steal tech from another, thus making it available to members of both factions. If we didn't go this route, most people wouldn't be able to use certain tech without explicit permission from whoever owned it, and they wouldn't be able to make their own version of it either.

@Undine there's literally 20+ tech of every category that is free for use and I dare you to find something that is both unique and can't be used by anyone else. Except for the P.O.W. ofcourse.

This thread isn't the place for a back and forth between members, however, and if you really want to discuss it feel free to PM me or post a thread in the Tech Discussions Forum.

I'd like to start by making it clear I've been mostly absent for a few months aside from the occasional check in, so this all based on what I've seen over the last couple weeks being back. In general, I have to admit I'm very impressed with the dramatic change in the general atmosphere here over a few short months. There is an air of positivity that was sorely lacking much of last year and I'm very glad for it. I like or am at least intrigued by a number of the recent rules and systems changes, and think they will have a good overall effect on the site, even if we end up having to work out some kinks. Now, onto my feedback:

  • Level of site-wide activity: The level of general activity on the part of the admins has always been pretty good, for the most part. I think having more admins than there was before makes their presence more noticeable maybe, but I really don't and have never had any complaints in this department. Two thumbs up.
  • Level of RP activity: RP activity is something that has been lacking before, but I think the gradual addition of more admins and mods for specific boards to help ease the workload has had a positive effect here. I've seen a number of Admins posting in active threads in just the last couple weeks- and none of them are "Main" story threads. Two thumbs up.
  • Effectiveness as a group: Always been good. The admin team is more or less an iron curtain behind which, as far as the community is concerned, unanimous decisions are made and enforced upon the plebes with a heavy handed fist. When one falls, another rises to take his/her place. Two thumbs up.
  • Member relations - do you feel the admins are accessible, nice, fun, etc?: Boli (is he still an admin? Doesn't matter.) is a no fun meany. @Padmé is nice. All hail @Sreeya. /thread...

I don't know. I've had off and on interactions with most of the current admins for quite awhile now, so I don't think I have a good handle on their accessibility, because I don't mind pestering them whenever I feel like it and sometimes calling them names. Of the new comers, @Zenya seems to be very proactive in reaching out to people, which I think helps. They've always seemed pretty responsive to me, but I've also seen new members say it's intimidating to talk to Admins so... Shrug on this one.
  • Suggestions for improvement: The one place I still see struggling is the tech boards. Surprise surprise. I think with the newest round of tech rules in place (all of which I like) some of the load should have been eased on the tech team, because armor and ships have always been two of the biggest offenders of OP tech. Yet we still seem to have a long backlog, some of which are things that could probably just be generic, or are easy approval items. I know we will probably never completely get rid of the backlog, because Tech is and has always been the busiest content submission section. That seems like all the more reason though to add an additional Tech mod or two- let them clear the easy items and differ to the more senior tech admin on potential problems. Something. There's really not a good reason to have totally featureless armor untouched for two weeks though. One thumb up for the rules and their enforcement, one thumb down for efficiency.
  • Overall performance: I am as happy and enthusiastic with the state of things here as I have been in a couple years. Major Kudos to everyone on staff, past and present. Two thumbs up and a wink.

Now, lets start a fight over something Mando related before people think I've gone soft.

One of the internal rules we have for the tech boards is First In, First Out. That means that a thread is given an initial reply based on when it was posted, not whether it's easy or not. Regardless of whether a thread is easy or difficult to review, if you post a thread one day and someone else posts one the next then it's not fair for us to reply to the other person's thread first.

I'll keep this short.

ALL staff members do their jobs extremely well.

As a relatively new person, I felt welcome plenty, so thanks to the numerous people that helped me through that.

Some cons may be, yes, the differing time zones and the tech can be backed up a bit, but neither of those are very major in my opinion.

So yeah. Pinky out.

I'm a bit late to comment, but regarding the tech boards specifically I'd also like to say that I'm sorry for not having been more active there. I'm working at a camp this summer, and my time off where I have access to a laptop and wifi has been fairly limited over the past couple/three weeks as we're all getting into the swing of things, although now that everything's been fairly streamlined I should be able to hop on more often and get back to work/planning to overthrow Clayton.

Also, there's the bit where the tech board is like the Lernaean Hydra. Approve/deny one topic, and two more spout up in its place. But that's just the fun of the tech board, eh?

(can't speak for Korvo or Clayton, but I <3 u all. also clayton is an okay boss I guess, except he keeps forgetting to feed me. it's okay, i still have a few toes left.)

Super late, but can we vote on having a 4th character?

Yeah, I mean, I know you guys cut down the character limits because six characters last TL seemed like too much, but as a guy that actually got on fine with having six characters, three seems unnecessarily gimpy. I dunno if anyone else feels the same way, but I feel like even one extra character slot would help people.

Are we still allowed to give feedback here?

I've only had good experience with staff so far but I haven't spoken with all of them yet.

@Dark child has been very helpful and he's easy to approach. While I'm not personally in it, I really like the Sith Mission he has going with new members. In the OOC he provides a lot of good advice; which makes it more than just threading with newbies so they have something to do. I think guiding thus retaining new members is very important to a sites health, so I applaud the staff for having a mod that does this.

@Relent while he hasn't offered me any pointers on my profiles ;[ he's very nice and easy to approach as well.

As for character slots, I'm happy with three. It may feel limiting to some, but compared to sites that allows six+ characters, it makes me focus on the ones I have more. Basically, it promotes character growth.

As someone who has nothing else to do right now, I would agree 3 characters is a little constricting.
