In the sands of Tatooine stood a woman, keffiyah covering her features as she double checked the supplies in her pack. Her speeder hummed softly as it rested on its repulsor lifts, the engine starting to cool down. The woman, Evelyn, went over the pass phrase she was supposed to ask and it's answer over and over in her head as she waited.

Where'd the Jawas go? All the way home.

She repeated these two sentences in her mind again and again, making sure it was ingrained in her memory. She was supposed to meet another agent here, someone who would assist in their mission today. It was just a simple stakeout but being so close to the target of their coming assault got her excited. Soon she would finally be able to show her worth, all she had to do was watch the castle full of pirates for a bit and then the assault can start in a few days.

Evelyn finished checking her camping supplies one last time. She was supposed to meet the Rebel Agent here at the foot of the cliffs they were to camp at, then hike up the rest of the way to their spot. She was anxious to get moving and almost jumped up when a figure began to approach on a speeder of their own.

When the speeder pulled to a stop, Evelyn gave a small wave and shouted to the newcomer, "Hello! Where'd the Jawas go?"

Ariadne felt the twin suns beating down on her vermillion-tinted skin. She had her entire body in a wrap, all her face covered except her eyes. Her montrals poked out of the wrap annoyingly and Ariadne kept batting the fabric down.

She was on Tatooine for a while now. So much to do on the Outer Rim planet. It was already a hub for everything on the Galaxy, legal and illegal and anything of the like. Ariadne was honestly already tired of being on, what she considered a wasteland. The only positive was that she was doing some grunt intelligence work in which the Togruta never seemed to mind.

Ariadne had arrived at the future campsite hours in advance, scouting any issues, potential threats, and resources. She always made sure to go above and beyond. She wasn’t as young as she used to be, but Ariadne was determined to not fail the Galactic Alliance.

A speeder pulled up. Her hand poised over her hand blaster, her body positioned in case she needed her rifle. Ariadne refused to let herself relax when she heard the question: “Where’d the Jawas go?”

“All the way home,” Ariadne replied loudly with a grim smile, still watching the newcomer’s every movements. One had to be careful.

"Good to meet you, i'm Evelyn." She replied afterwords. She looked over the cliffside overlooking the Monastery to see if there was anything interesting at the moment. Satisfied that there was nothing to report just yet, she unslung her backpack and set it on the camp.

Evelyn had never seen the togruta before and was interested by meeting new people. Evelyn pulled a pair of electrobinoculars and took a seat at the camp, ready to look. She glanced over at Ariadne and said, "Seen anything worrying so far?"

“Ariadne, pleasant to meet you,” the Togruta said, unveiling her face and montrals to the other rebel. She walked over, relaxing her arms poised on her weapons.

“And no, nothing too much of a worry, unless you count the bit of bugs that make their home in this wretched sand.” Ariadne gave Evelyn a wry smile, attempting to break some ice. “Can you explain to me more about what we are supposed to be doing here?” She asked, softly. “I was given very vague directions and were told you were to have more information. I’m sorry, I tried to pester for more but the tip wasn’t much.”

She nodded and said, "We're going to be assaulting that monastery. The Alliance needs a base of operations and command figures that a castle in the Outer Rim is the best place for that. However a bunch of pirates, as you can tell, are camped out in our spot. Command wants good intel on the place before we attack so that they can come up with a battle plan. So we're here to find out what ordinance they have, expected resistance, the like."

Evelyn looked through the electrobinoculars and scanned the monastery. So far it was just a bunch of rowdy pirates moving about the place. They were undisciplined and the castle was kept in a state of disrepair. But they had enough numbers to man they place and that worried her. She could've sworn she saw some sort of vehicle inside what seemed like a garage at the last minute but she wasn't sure.

"So we're just gonna spend the night staking the place out and seeing what we can find. Kinda like a camp out, except we get to spend the night staring at a bunch of pirates being pirates."

“Expected resistance, eh?” Ariadne murmured. The castle itself was going to be hard to take with very few people manning it. She felt fleeting guilt about the amount of fighting that is happening among a monastery, along with anger and sadness that pirates overtook them. “Pirates are usually pretty amateur though, I would think,” she confided in Evelyn. “At least the ones I’ve seen. The better ones are on better worlds than Tatooine.”

She turned her head to the datapad next her, her eyes scanning the numbers. Ariadne was in desperate need of a droid, or it would be nice to have one. A companion and data hustler in one. But, it was the castle she had to focus on for now. Ariadne took out her scope, she preferred that to binoculars, and scanned the future ops place. There were a lot, and castle's usually have a decent defense system against sieges.
“Huh. I haven’t had a slumber party in a while," Ariadne joked with a smile on her face, reaching towards the datapad, her fingers tapping to make notes.

Evelyn cracked a smile and said, "Same here, what're we supposed to do during one, talk about boys?"

Evelyn took out her own datapad pad and started tallying the amount of pirates she saw within, making sure she didn't double count. Although it wasn't a lot of actual work, she took the job seriously. After seeing another glimpse of some sort of vehicle, although she couldn't tell, Evelyn marked down "potential armor" on her datapad.

She didn't have much experience with pirates of any kind. In fact, the upcoming assault would be the first actual fighting she'd ever partake in. Seeing the amount of men manning the castle didn't help her anxiety much as she imagined the kind of chaos there would be. When she first joined the Alliance, she was promised non-combat duty. In fact, this was supposed to be the closest she'd ever get to fighting.

Guess the Alliance had other plans for her. Although Evelyn didn't mind too much. In truth, she figured that at some point she'd have to take an active role in the rebellion. She made another tally on her datapad. Fifteen people in total, and that was just the ones outside right now. There could be who knows how many inside, or a whole other set waiting to replace the ones she could see right now. She sighed a little in anticipation and lowered the electrobinoculars, rubbing away some of the grit that had been collecting on the opposite end of them.

As the pair looked over the castle, Evelyn felt a tingling on the back of her neck and looked over her shoulder. She only had enough time to catch a glimpse of the mans sneering face before he charged forward and tackled her, knife in hand. Evelyn fell back on her ass and barely had enough time to throw her hands up to grab onto the wrist of the pirate attempting to stab down on her.

A red bolt of energy would blast past Ariadne as another pirate brandished a pistol at her and got ready for another shot. However the togruta got lucky, and the blaster failed on the pirate, no doubt a result of the pirates tendency to just not take care of their weapons. He tossed the blaster to the floor and pulled a knife, moving forward to engage in hand to hand combat.

Evelyn twisted around and managed to get the pirate on his back now, both of them struggling for control of his knife. She shouted at Ariadne, "Get the kriffer, i've got things handled." just before she got punched in the face by the pirate and stumbled back, letting him get free and hopping up to his feet. Evelyn pulled her own vibroblade out and held it at the ready, looking for an opening against her enemy.

Ariadne’s focus was too heavy on the castle to have noticed the pirates sneaking up on them. How did they know they were there? Did they get tipped off or were the rebels really that obvious? Ariadne would refuse to accept her lousiness.
Her focus was broken when the pirate jumped on her comrade. ++Because of the dice roll, 12, of low success++ She managed to pull her blaster pistol and shot him in the arm. “Kriff these guys!” However, when she turned around Ariadne saw two more pirates coming their way. One had a rifle, the other a stun baton. Expletives flew from her mouth.
“Evelyn, what do we do?”

Evelyn was still in the fight with the pirate as the other two started to approach. The one she was wrestling with abruptly stopped struggling as Evelyn turned the mans own knife into his chest. She quickly got up and eyed the two newcomers to the fight.. The two women stood off against the two pirates, while the wounded one stood off to the side.

For a second, the two groups just watched each other. The pirates looked a little surprised at the resistance faced so far, obviously not expecting any trouble. Evelyn muttered to Ariadne, "I don't think they knew we were here. We can't let them report they've been spied on."

Their backs were to the cliffside anyways, so they didn't have a choice as to whether or not a fight would go down. Evelyn sprung into action, almost like a cowgirl from one of those old Frontier Holofilms, and quickly drew her pistol from it's holster. Firing from the hip, she plugged a shot into the wounded pirate, finishing the job Ariadne started.

The pirates scrambled into the fight as soon as Evelyn finished her shot. The one with the rifle decided to go for Evelyn, opening fire on her as he advanced. Evelyn managed to twist out of the way of a shot last minute, but took a hit in the shoulder. She get to cover behind a rock, giving herself a few moments to breathe as the pirate continued advancing.

The one with a stun baton dramatically pointed at Ariadne with it, and then proceeded to charge right for her. He was surprisingly fast and closed the distance in seconds. Although she managed to hop away a little bit, Ariadne would take a hit in the thigh from the baton. Although it was more of a light tap, she'd feel a quick jolt of energy through her leg and then a sort of cold spot about the size of her fist spread through her thigh.

"Motherkriffer," Ariadne hissed, she aimed her blaster pistol at the pirate’s head. She took two shots, one barely missed his head. Kriff! The other shot missed him completely. If she had time to, she would have hung her head low and in defeat. Instead, she just rolled her eyes towards her own sucky aim. Her hip throbbed from her putting weight on the injured leg, but it was okay.

++Because of the dice roll of t
wo++ Ariadne shot and missed at pirate with the stun baton. She cursed again. What sort of cruel fate was this? Even if she wanted to escape, there was no way to.

The other pirate was going after Evelyn. ++Because of the roll of six++, Ariadne took another shot before ducking under a slight cleft in the cliffside. The shot grazed the pirate. Expletive. At least the pirate was distracted from Evelyn. The other two pirates looked as dumb as a sack of rocks and didn't know when to even start fighting.

Evelyn took the opportunity given to her to level her pistol at the pirate that was distracted and fire a trio of shots at him. However all three shots missed their mark completely, sailing right past him towards the rock face. Evelyn ducked back under cover as the pirate returned fire on her, but he managed a grazing shot on her shoulder as she ducked down.

She gritted back a curse as her shoulder started to burn. Her shoulder armor absorbed most of it, but the impact and the heat still made it a bitch to deal with. Evelyn glanced over at Ariadne, who was still stuck in close quarters fighting with the stun baton pirate. Evelyn was about to poke her head up to get a shot off, when another blaster bolt ducked her back down behind over.

Kriff, I can't get him while the other asshole is supressing. She thought to herself. However right then a probably stupid plan started to form in her head. Evelyn drew her vibro blade from its sheathe, took a few deep breaths and stuck her head back up. She aimed her blaster pistol at the pirate trying to suppress her and fired a rapid flurry of bolts at him to keep him down. Using her other hand, Evelyn drew back the knife and threw it right towards the Pirate.

Only to have it sail right past him and clink into the rock face behind him. Almost in slow mo the pirate saw the knife whirling past his face, a bit shocked at how close it got. However it would give Ariadne a momentary distraction for an attack on the pirate should she so choose.

As the fight drew on, two more pirates came up. One of them held a knife, whilst the other held some sort of bit of pipe. If the first four weren't expecting a fight, these two definitely weren't. It was starting to get a bit too crowded for Evelyns liking.

The duo both came forward, the one with the knife advancing on Evelyn, while the pipe-man went for Ariadne. Out of the corner of her eyes, Evelyn could see the Pipe pirate, the piperate if you will, quickly running towards Ariadne. However at the last moment, his ankle turned on a loose rock and he began to stumble. At the last minute, he grabbed onto his buddy with the stun baton to try and maintain his balance, but all he succeeded in doing was bringing his friend with him over the side of the cliff, both of them screaming until they hit their deaths at the bottom.

Evelyn however, was not so lucky. She attempted to turn her blaster onto the knife-wielder advancing onto her, however he quickly kicked her pistol out of her hand, sending it sliding away from her. He practically pounced on Evelyn and stabbed toward her. The woman did the only thing her body reflexively knew how to do when faced with sudden death.

She threw her hands out.

The knife plunged right into her hand, coming out the other end. Evelyn let out a pained scream as the pirate stabbed right through her hand. But it didn't hit anything vital, which meant she was still in the fight. She pushed up with her pierced hand, keeping it away from her throat as the pirate leaned forward on it to finish the job. It was an absolute pain to maintain however, and Evelyn would quickly fail were she not assisted soon.
