Star Trek RP OOC

I am planning a Star Trek RP. I am not sure what timeline it will be in, most likely around the same time The Original Series or The Next Generation takes place. I am not completely ready and any ideas you guys have, I'll be glad to hear them.

For the RP, I was thinking everyone choose a faction (United Federation of Planets, Klingon Empire, Romulan Empire, Borg Collective, Ferengi Alliance, etc.) and choose a starship and name it and you be the commanding officer of that vessel and have battles. That's only an idea, but the only way it will work is if the sides have enough people and are even (not everyone being on one side and like two on the other like the World War III RP.)

So just shoot some ideas to me.

I suggest the Romulan War during the Star Trek: Enterprise era. If we do that, I call Charles "Trip" Tucker III. However, I want to play him as he was portrayed in the ENT relaunch novel The Good That Men Do where he fakes his death, leaves Enterprise and becomes a covert agent for Section 31 so he can infiltrate the heart of the Romulan Star empire.

It could also be more interesting this way as it'll still be when the Coalition of Planets is very young, meaning there is no Federation yet.

I like that era as well, but if you are Trip, who will be Archer. If we are all on the same ship, Bac, I want you to be Captain. I call Malcolm Reed.

Meh, I'd have more fun playing Trip. Don't get me wrong, Archer's awesome, but Trip is my favorite character in anything ever.

Then you be both, or you choose someone to be Archer. Maybe we can have an alternate timeline, Archer is killed, T'Pol returns to Vulcan High Command and Trip is Captain.

This is the list of characters I would be in the eras:
Enterprise- Malcolm Reed
The Original Series- Leonard McCoy
The Next Generation- Data
Voyager- I hate Voyager some much, I would never RP in it. If I did, I would be The Doctor hologram.
Deep Space Nine- Quark

Just let me write the history. At the risk of sounding presumptuous, I probably know more about Trek lore than most around here anyway. :p
