Star Wars Episode VII: Shoot the Shit

So on Skype, we were talking about stuff we'd like to see Episode VII wise. I'll mention some of the things I/Bac/Boli/Johnny came up with later. But here's the thread. Storyboard some ideas you'd like to see. Discuss concepts. Nothing too organized or structure. Just a nice casual discussion (but thoughtful.)

Vertical ships. If I see another pointed horizontal ship or a ship that's so over designed he just starts to look like a mass of malformed metal, I'll gouge my eyes out.

100% vertical.

Like a floating tower. When I was redesigning the Mandolorians for my prequel re-writes, my concepts for their ships were that of enormous vertical ships, shaped almost like rusty blades/swords. When they float vertically towards a planet, they initiate an entry sequence that turns the pointed bottom of the ship directly towards the planet. Symbolically it doubles as the imagery of a sword entering a body, while also representing sperm cells entering the womb. Death/Birth etc.

Anything like that would be cool in my book. When they enter an atmosphere, they also make similar bombastic sounds to that of the Reapers from Mass Effect, the Tripods from War of the Worlds, or the mother ship from District 9. As they reach the surface of the planet, electrical energies crackle around it's enormous engines as well, making them a thunderous force to be reckoned with.

A character could say something akin to, "When they arrived, it felt as if the whole world was trembling. These warriors are not to be underestimated. Beyond their ships, beyond their weapons, know that they bring fear."

Those are my re-write concepts, but I guess I could throw them out as concepts for an enemy force in the sequels.
