The starliner was already visible as their shuttle headed for the orbital port. Tickets had cost a fortune, but neither Kara nor Val had more than a backpack of stuff so that at least saved on the extra baggage fees. Their last job on their homeplanet of Byblos had finished just a few hours prior and the two women were in a rush to get offworld, knowing what was coming. Soon the Sith would attack a Republic blacksite on Byblos to rescue the two Sith Lords that had been captured in the failed invasion. The second word would reach the air-defense systems and military command it wouldn't be farfetched to think the entire planet would go in lockdown, six hours later and the rangers would find that the cleaning crew of that night had carried fake I.D.'s and their mugshots would be all over the Republic. Needless to say, but they had to get offworld stat and the first starliner to go was the one travelling the Corellian Run.
End destination was the planet Ryloth. Planets of Twi'leks, part of the Intergalactic Space Consortium and traditionally a target of both pirates and slavers. It also had rather unchecked wilds and harsh living conditions outside of the cities. It was the perfect place to start their careers as intergalactic mercs and hide from those pesky Sector Rangers.
Considering she woke up in her own puke the day before and had a long day of prep for an adrenaline-fueled night, Kara had dozed off the second the shuttle had departed for the orbital station. She was beat. Her entire body was sore, her eyelids heavy as a pregnant bantha and her mouth so dry she felt like drowning in Corellian whiskey. Two more hours. 120 minutes. That was the time they needed to wait on the orbital station before they could board the starliner and go straight for either the high-end bar or their first-class shared twin-bed room.
Just as Kara's dropped open to make room to drool on her tunic, the shuttle's intercom buzzed to life:
<<Attention passengers. We're about to dock with Stargaze Station; the boarding point for the starliners traversing the Corellian run and the home of the famous Sing Sang Club. Enjoy your stay on Stargaze Station and don't forget personal belongings as this shuttle will immediately turn around for the Byblos spaceport.>>
Kara startled with the 'Attention passengers' and tried her best to wake up her brain to register the rest of the message, but it was of no use. "She said anything important?" she asked Val, who was seated next to her.
