I need one that is windows, but not all crappy. It's got to be able to run Dawn of War (and all the expansions) and Dawn of War 2 (and the expansion). And it has to have a large memory for documents and essays.

So. Any suggestions?

Asus Altec Lancing, its a beast. Depending on the screen it might be a bit expensive.

Anything Toshiba.

Wipe off windows and put Ubuntu.

That is how you run a computer.

well at least Linux is an actual OPERATING system that OPERATES >:3
Plus, anything with windows on it comes complete with sooooooo much crap...it's all rather disgusting. But maybe I'm biased...I ran Ubuntu 10.04 through development. 'Tis a good system.

I like Toshiba.

<-- Personal preference, not saying it is the best.

Stay away from Dell and Acer; Asus, Alienware and Toshiba are your best bets.

Alienware? are you kidding me those are overpaid pieces of shit

Acer is good I would go with them they give you a bang for your buck and very reliable.

you don't have to be a programmer to run Ubuntu...it's become more and more commercial and user friendly over it's many incarnations. If you wanted to run Arch Linux or Gentoo then yes, you'd have to be a programmer. Ubuntu can be run exclusively through point and click.

In terms of installing software, there's a "Ubuntu Program Manager" where's it's just like "I WANT THAT ONE!" *clicks* *waits* *installed*.

It's a great operating system and it's best if you have a marginal understanding of UNIX but it's by no means required.

My first laptop was an Acer and it died a week later. I got another one from the warranty, and that one died too. Don't tell me Acers are reliable. If you want a reliable computer you're going to have to pay for a reliable computer. Sony is good too, but stay away from the netbooks and what not.

I had a couple of Dells before I got my Mac. Despite what other people say, I've really had nothing but good experiences with them- the computers do what they need to do, and their customer service is responsive.
