Open to Mandalorians

Hauron was followed by no less than a dozen mandalorians. Ahead of the Solus Rally Master were even more mandalorians all converging on the city of Sundari. The cloudy skies of Mandalore were clearing enough in the early hours of the day to reveal a beautiful sunrise peaking over the horizon. The jagged green glassy rocks had once been a sandy desert and changed the world greatly from its previous appearance. But the mandalorians had returned, Hauron Solus had come to reestablish their world.

For years individual tribes came and went from Mandalore. But very little was done in terms of infrastructure and much of the planet lay in ruins. Outposts manned by isolated sects of their people had kept them from working together but it was time they had a city of their own. Hauron wanted them to return to their world and rebuild.

The bulk of Rancor Squadron had come to the planet in support of the endeavor. Members of the Endless Watch were encouraged to join them as was any mandalorian who wanted to come together and begin rebuilding. This was just one of many steps the Group Leader had in mind but it was a start. They had a long way to go but the call had been put out especially for architects, engineers, builders and manufacturers that would be a boon to reconstruction efforts.

Many members of Rancor Squadron had a side hustle. There were armorers, entertainers, service providers of all kinds now coming together in one location. It was an ideal time to buy and sell, exchange beskar and even tall tales. Many mandalorians had not seen some family members or even their homeworld in years. today was an exciting day to say the least. Literally tons of supplies were being brought in by the Rancor Squadron transports. All were being put towards the reinvigoration of their damaged home. Today was the day they were going to make turn for the better.

Hauron had one reason in particular when it came to resettling the city of Sundari. He could have gone to another place but the cultural history the point of interest could not be denied. Furthermore after his recent visit to the subterranean Living Waters, he had made a discovery. Along with @Atuu Skirata and @Virgo Armegedon-Lok , he had found an ancient vault. The intrior had yet to be breached and perhaps for the time being that was for the best. He needed to do more research on Be’Demer’tran Vorpanyc Mercer. The underwater pathways that had allowed them access were still dangerous. Not to mention they had seen a that creature, the fabled one, the mythosaur.

Originally the mikkian had simply wished to visit the Living Waters and reaffirm his oaths. But the discovery had surprised and distracted him. There was still the matter of relighting the Great Forge. After much delay, they would finally be relighting the structure and allowing their people to hone their craft and produce the tools they needed to survive. More than that, Hauron Solus wanted them to prosper. His whole life had been one of survival and he wanted something more for himself and his people whether he led them or not.

She could count on one hand the times she had stood on these sands, on this glassed planet, and they amounted to five. If memory served her right.

When Ars Dagon had summoned the moot.
She remembered that moment on her dune.
When Roland Rook left, if not Minerva Wren.
She held glass in a hand, crushed—if unbent.

Unbent. Unbroken. Unbowed. As she crouched.
Pirates died, by Mandalorians, if still lost to time.
Then came the Black Keep. And Kotii Solus tried.
Whispers in shards as she stares at that ground.

From the Keep to the Citadel, for the Orar’da’yadr.
Where Srucayr invited others, made his own offer.
To Laren Vano. Reiel Mal Crowholde. Like before.
To unite, come together, and retake Mandalore.

The other moot. Adenn Rytt. Srucayr’s banishment.
Arthos Vizsla. And more. Heeding the call as born.
As warriors. Moot after moot. They were no more.
They were no less. They were the Mandalorians.

A choice for Mandalore. As given by a damn Sith.
So came the rift of Mandalorians. The resistance.
So long ago. Yet it felt so close, like her brethren.
When she looked up and stared into the distance.

Here we go again. Words of the defeatist, maybe. No, she had come out of her own decision, with purpose, not to repeat failure, but to attempt success yet again. After the hunt, after the resistance, she was, when all was said and done, simply a Mandalorian, in the flesh and in the blood.

So Casany Praxor got up. Wind whipped at her scarlet cloak, pulling it away from her beskar’gam, head to toe, in red gold iron bound, as she descended the slope, and the garment wrapped around her back.

I am home again. Not on her Firespray, Hammer, not in her birthplace, the Lost Forge, not on the asteroid base of Clan Praxor’s escape, Kad-Stor, but on the world that bore their name, Mandalore.

So she walked. She watched as members of Endless Watch or Rancor Squadron, of this organization or that clan, of independents even, walked.

Bal kote, darasuum kote.

Whether the architect or the builder, the entertainer or the manufacturer, she was an armorer and a warrior and a hunter. She was a Mandalorian, trekking with her brethren, but no mere wanderer.

Jorso'ran kando a tome.

Casany Praxor joined the rest of them, cast her silent voice, heard the cries from floor and the cry of Mandalore, determined not to be left behind.

Perhaps she had come out of sentiment, whether expectant, still split between being a Mandalorian and just a woman, but she walked, she went, head held high, for this was Mandalore’s time.

Hauron had come to Mandalore many a time and each time was different. But the world remained the same regardless of who had come before. Even when glassed, long before Hauron was even born, it was still Mandalore. The homeworld to his people's culture had similarities with other planets. Concord Dawn was a galactic neighbor and lay shattered in the void but enduring none-the-less. Mandalorians were known for their iron and ferocity in battle but even the pacifists shared hardships with the warfighters. Every mandalorian endured, contended, and overcame.

As he walked inside the former dome of Sundari he felt the coolness of the shade and the chill of death. Thousands if not millions had died on this world and Hauron felt they were walking with their descendants, watching them survive beyond all odds. Many still wished them dead and many more would become enemies before the stars burned out. But the spirit of mandalorians lived on in each of them.

Among the marching mass of warriors he spotted one individual he recognized. Clan Praxor's sigil in signet and painted form along with Casany's personal emblem were telling signs. Hauron had crossed paths with the woman on several occasions as a child and a few more times as an adult. Kotii had mostly spoken well of her for the most part, as well as any Solus did about a non-badger. It was a bit of a surprise considering her previous associations to Srucayr. But like his father, Hauron did not hold that against Casany.

When he approached he gave a friendly wave of his right hand. "Su cuy'gar, Praxor'Alor!" He spoke with a smile hidden only by his helmet. He extended his right arm in a traditional mandalorian forearm-shake. <"How have you been?"> Casany was probably as old as his buir if not older but that was a guess on Hauron's part. She was human, or near-human from what he remembered about her face at previous encounters. There was a chance she was long lived and could live for centuries like some species.

She walked, across the glass, upon the land, on the floor of Mandalore. Forward, always. Always forward. Ever onward, toward the lost settlement, broken, abandoned, attempted for reclamation time and again; a relic stuck in the past, present and future, like a dragonfly in amber.

Here we go again. No, not a defeatist. Those were the thoughts of promise. Try, fail, try again. So she stepped, in the line, with her brethren, as much of an aimless and insignificant woman as a Mandalorian with a purpose and position.

Her helmet went with her, and from behind her visor she spied the sigils and the signets of others. Clansmen at her back, at her front, moving as one, in unison. They saw the city of Sundari. No, they saw purpose. They saw future.

And Casany Praxor heard it.

Some see the desert, barren and beaten, and are lost like time in the sand of an hourglass.
Some see the sky, grey and cruel, and hear dreadnoughts and dromons, Mandalore glassed.
Some hear the wind, bitter and biting, like a storm carrying the cries of graves, of the damned.
Some hear the fire, frozen and crystalized, for the warrior is forever, and here today many stand.

Yet, not every one of them could see the song of the dead as breath from the earth.
Not all of them could hear the morning and the evening as a Jedi or Sith determined.
One of them was never more or less than a warrior, a Mandalorian, but it is no illusion.
Nuhoy, Mando’ad. She beckons amid ruins, visions, voices. Rest, my warriors. It is earned.

Her moment was suddenly interrupted by someone, another voice spoken, getting her attention, though this Mandalorian was very much alive. Hauron Solus. She smiled wide, hidden only by her helmet.

And, like that, her hand found his forearm, his found hers, as the two Mandalorians held one another on the ground of Mandalore. Glassed, but never damned. “Su’cuy, Solus.” She greeted, considering his question for a moment, as if time and space made her that dragonfly.

Old. Older, anyway. Casany Praxor was in her early twenties for that first mission to Mandalore. From a bounty hunter to a crusader, from the Orar’da’yadr to a True Mandalorian, to this moment…had the woman aged in flesh, or was she ageless when it came to the spirit of the Mandalorians?

“I’ve been alive, vod,” Casany offered simply. “If not really living.” She looked about the crowd. “Maybe that will change today.” Maybe the fate of Mandalore would be forged by the hammer and the anvil, with or without the Praxor. “You?” Visor into visor, hiding the eyes, but never the truth.

He seemed to have brought the Alor out of deep thought or intense focus. But she met his arm and the two shook. Hauron would feel the strength behind the woman's grasp and returned it in kind, smiling at her replying to his greeting. She was far from elderly, youthful even.

After they parted, Hauron's head tilted to one side to indicate a degree of confusion. Maybe she would share the details with him later. <"That's the goal, Chief."> The rally master tried to look on the bright side and keep a positive attitude. They had come so far and risen from strife.

Hauron pressed his lips together and nonchalantly blew as he thought of everything that had happened. <"pbpbpf where to begin?"> A gloved hand gestured for them to continue walking as he recounted his recent past. <"Well I earned a 2 million credit bounty on my head for a little while there. My battle group Rancor Squadron is doing well, as you can see."> The Solus nodded his head in the direction of the diverse mandalorians that had joined them, many of them sporting the Rancor Squadron emblem somewhere on their armor. Ships continued to fly in the air on patrol, providing a line of defense and a level of security for those on the ground. They sported numerous kill markings and signs of success with bolstered numbers and improved experience. There were numerous official missions the private military company had accomplished which Hauron was happy to recount.

<"Uh...I visited the Living Waters not long ago and I found something, well, a few things actually."> He took a deep breath knowing she might not believe what he said next. <"I saw...a mythosaur down there. A few others did too and we also found some...structure. The Verdant Vaults of the Star Carver...or something like that."> Hauron shrugged and looked at Casany to gauge her reaction. There was always more to tell and the two had plenty of time to talk on the way to the Great Forge. Occasionally Hauron would turn and nod or greet a friendly buy'ce he recognized.

Oh, of course rue was here, how could she like, not be absolutly loosing it about going to the great forge? THE. GREAT. FORGE! It was a smith like hers DREAM to go, and better yet, it was with good company, for rue, this was like going to see like, whats the word to describe it.. like seeing the birthplace of her religion.. well.. profession.. she felt like she was flying back to her home nest..

rue had, at least for now, moved past her grief, and had promptly arrived, sorta late to the party, but she had arrived, pushing herself greatly to rush to where everyone was so she wasnt left behind!

"yeah- im-here - made- it."

she said in between pants and small coughs, giving a small wave to hauron when he turned around.

Hauron would fill Casany in on the rest of his exploits on the way down to the Great Forge. When he arrived the Rally aster would spot the arrival of a familiar set of armor and the woman that wore it. "Su cuy'gar" He said with a smile underneath his helmet. The two had only just caught up somewhat recently at the Citadel. Now Hauron felt more confident than ever in relighting the Great Forge.

Scores of Mandalorians, some helmeted, many were not. There were banners from each of the clans and those of Rancor Squadron in the dark halls. But they were soon lit as energy had been restored. The forges remained dim for now. Though they were now capable of being started, Hauron waited and savored the moment. Mandalorians had come together to revitalize the planet once again. With the ignition of the Great Forge they rekindled hope itself.

The Rally Master of House Solus was saddened to not see more familiar faces present. But he was even more happy to see those that had come. The badger took one of his thermic blades and held it out. Without another word, not wanting to ruin it with a speech he lit the forge. The weapon quickly glowed with intense heat which in turn lit the Great Forge. Orange flames filled the forge before turning to jets of blue. He pulled the weapon back before it was damaged and held it at his side, lighting the remaining two forges in a similar manner as his people clashed their gauntlets together.

For Mandalore!

The cheer, like the clashing of bracers, was echoed not only by the walls but by the many children of mandalore. Few of them were born into the Mandalorian life style and even fewer of them were born on Mandalore. But they were all just as much a Mandalorian as the next. With the lighting of the Great Forge they were at least in that moment, united.

Rue manages to catch her breath, silencing the coughing fit she briefly had, giving a hearty thumbs up as she stands straight up.

<"For now, but yes, I made it, how could I not?">

She said jokingly, walking with the group to the forge, then moving away from the group to put up the banner of Tepmuart somewhere free and out of the way, it was small, but she had to represent somehow.. she was far too proud to not, even if she was all that was left. Her ancestors had dreamed of one day seeing the great forge relighted, and that hope had been passed down from one generation to the next and unto her.

rue was Concordian through and through, and gave the loudest
"OYA" she could in celebration!

The chanting gave way to a rolling cheer. Shouts and roars of pride turned into a subterranean cacophony. Eventually the noise would die down if only a little. Now was the time for partying, drinking and feasting. Drums were beaten and horns blared. The most senior armors remained to share their craft with one another and speak after their tribes had been separated for so long.

Hauron was gladdened by Rue's response and returned his attention to her after the crowd began to lessen. He hoped it was a sign she was making a change for the better. Her condition still seemed to be a wit of worse for wear. <"I've reached out some friends and they're going to set up a hospital here in Sundari. Maybe they can look at that cough of yours."> She might not be bothered by the mild cough, if that was all it was. But it was worth looking at. <"I don't want you coughing the next time we try sneaking up on spider droids."> He half jested to encourage the fellow armorer to take better care of herself. <"How do you feel about cybernetics or bionics?"> The Solus's father had a cybernetic arm but Hauron himself was fully organic. Though having a blind eye might be a major handicap for Rue.

<"well, part of me considers it a trophy of sorts, I got the cough defending.. family.. from a slaver, it's sorta a badge of honor for me in some kriffed up way.">

She said casually, She gave him a brazen smirk in mock offence.

<"Yeah yeah, kriffing asshole, I'll stick to being a markswoman, thank you very much, I hate stealth, I suck at it..I'll stick to engineering and shooting things.">
she jested.

<But I'll admit I'm far too proud, though I don't think cybernetics and bionics are negative, it has my support, tell you what, if it gets worse I'll get it checked, and I'll honestly consider it, as for my eye, I'm kinda just.. well.. used to it at this point, you feel me?>

"Hmm" Hauron gave a contemplative murmur at Rue's answer. He could respect her choice. It did not sound like she wanted to get rid of her respiratory issues so the Solus did not push the subject further.

<"Suit yourself."> He smiled and raised both his gloved hands in mock defense.

<"Works for me, Tepmuart. Let me know if you end up choosing to make a change sooner rather than later. We can meet up later for a hunt or mission some time."> He would say his good byes to Rue and make his rounds with others that were celebrating in the lighting of the Great Forge. There was still much work to do even after the party was over.
