The Vaudevillian dropped from the back of the beast, withdrawing his sword and rolling away from one of it's crashing arms. He stood in a small circle of light, given off by a streetlight. The creature approached but stopped short of the glow given off by the lamp. It seemed very unwilling to go into the light. So...you don't like light, eh?
He very carefully removed a flashbang from his belt in his left hand, sword raised in his right. He dropped the flashbang at the creatures feet, counted to two, his eyes firmly shut and dived at the creature's torso. He opened his eyes midair, hearing a bloodcurdling scream from the creature. In the momentar lapse he drove his sword into the creature's chest where its heart should be. It screamed again and fell back. He let go of his sword and dropped. As he dropped, he saw a glowing orb in the creature#s stomach. He had nothing else to go on, so he drew his revolver and emptied the six high caliber rounds into it.
The creature screamed again and began to fade. Tired and aching, Thomas stood, holstering his pistol and picking up his sword which had clattered to the floor. He walked into the club via the broken wall and saw one of his patrons on the floor, unconcious. He went to pick him up and saw no sign of the magician. He paused and waited, to see if he would come out of hiding.
