Biography

Syran Forossa and his littermates lived a life of poverty on Ord Mantell. Their father was an alcoholic with the habit of losing what little credits they could gather through gambling. Their mother had died right after the birth of his youngest sister. When their father no longer had any credits to spend, he realized that he did not earn enough to sustain his family. He had to make a decision. Either stop gambling, or stop providing for his children. The man chose the latter, abandoning Syran and his littermates in the Casino District of Ord Mantell.

Syran, the oldest of the five children, would not let his brother and sisters die as beggars on the streets. He and his younger brother took various jobs wherever they allowed the young cathar to work. Casino's, hangars, hotels. They usually lost their jobs after a month, because of their young age and species. Only places such as the hangars usually had them around longer than a month, because the smugglers didn't care who brought them their cargo, as long as it was loaded into their ships when they left. One of his younger sisters proved to be a skilled artist, and Syran had set aside some of their hard earned money to allow her to go to an art school. His other two sisters sold handmade products on the streets, or earned their money by guiding tourists through the city.
After five years of tirelessly working at many different place, Syran finally obtained a permanent job at a local power plant. The stable income finally allowed to him to properly provide for his family. All seemed well, until a small group of Imperials recruited one of his sisters, against her will. They killed the others who were at their home that day, because they tried to stop the Imperials from taking a member of their family. The only survivors were Syran and his youngest sister, because they weren't present at the time. Syran was at his work and his youngest sister at the art school he paid for.

When Syran came home, he found his youngest sister outside, staring at the display of the Empire its cruelty. Neighbours told him that one of his sisters was taken by the man leading the group of Imperials; a man black robes. They told him that getting her back home would require nothing short of a miracle. So that was exactly what Syran would try to achieve. He had heard stories before of the Jedi Order, a sect he considered to be miracle workers. After relocating his youngest sister to a safer place, Syran gathered what little savings he had. He left the planet, starting a search based on rumors, to find the fabled Jedi Knights who hopefully could help him find and save his sister.

Personality

Soft-spoken, humble and kind best define Syran Forossa. He did as much as he could to give his family the life and luxuries he believed they deserved, even at the expense of his own life. The loss of his sister to the dark side has made him overprotective and caring, with a large prejudice against the Empire. Because he had to make all the decisions in the past, Syran finds it very hard to ask for help, guidance or advice. Even when he does, he does not always understand what is meant, meaning he frequently has to find out the hard way.

One of his less commendable traits is his pride. Syran can be very arrogant and gets quite angry when humiliated. His ferocity however, is largely surpressed by his ideals and his love for his family. When angered, he quickly calms down and resumes control over his emotions, knowing that anger is not part of the person he strives to be. But when his family is involved, Syran will go to great lengths to protect them or clear his family's name.

Syran does not only have prejudice against the Empire, but against slavers as wel. Syran highly values freedom and will not stand for it being taken away from others when he can do something about it. However, he prefers not to resort to violence. Convincing and communicating are always better than having to fight your way out of situations. When it does come to confrontation however, he usually remains calm and rational.

As a proud older brother, Syran has deepened his knowledge in what his family members used to like before he left them. This has made him knowledgeable when it comes to art, culture and architecture. But also proper etiquette and cooking. He still has contact with one of his sisters, who often asks him about the culture and art he sees on his travels throughout the galaxy, looking for the famed Jedi Order.

Skills, Abilities and Equipment

As a Cathar, he is quick, agile and powerful. Syran has long retractable and razorsharp claws, which could make him a deadly opponent, were it not for his limited fighting experience. However, thanks to his physical prowess obtained through hard work, he doesn't fear taking a blow or two.

Despite never being formally trained as a cathar hunter, Syran is good at tracking people down, stealth and ambushing. It makes him a hard target to ambush, since he is alerted by the slightest movements and sounds which seem to be out of place.

As said before, Syran lacks fighting experience. His focus on working and providing for his family has always been his first and foremost priority. He never truly had to physically protect them and never felt the need to learn how. But since he started travelling, searching for the Jedi Order, he realizes the actual danger of his lack of combat training.

Syran, like his younger brother, did a lot of heavy lifting, loading and unloading the ships which came to Ord Mantell. It has made him quite muscular, allowing him to somewhat easily overpower an average human if he wanted to.

Syran speaks galactic basic, has studied Catharese and understands Huttese and Shyriiwook. However, he is unable to properly form sentences in the latter two languages. His knowledge of different cultures is quite useful too, as he knows the traditions of a lot of species and can greet them in a proper and respectful manner.

Syran Forossa wears a simple set of green/grey-ish clothes under a light brown colored poncho. His equipment consists of his backpack filled with cooking utensils, a cheap datapad, a comlink, small binoculars and a small flask filled with corellian rum.

Could you expand on why the Empire killed off his siblings? The Empire might have been bad, and I'm not saying it isn't possible, just having some justification would be good. I mean even random cruelty works. Also, the healing factor you mention, it would not be anything great. Most healing factors are greatly nerfed on the site, so the Cathar would be no exception.
