DESCRIPTION​

The T2 Super Tactical Droid, better known as the 'Super tactical droid', is a model of command droid originally manufactured by the now long-defunct Baktoid Combat Automata corporation. Entering production during the Clone Wars, the T2 was developed primarily to serve in the army of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, the largest droid fighting force ever assembled.

Working in conjunction with the B1, B2 and BX commando droids, alongside other units created for the Confederacy, the T2 had a specific role - command. Unlike the front line operation droids within the Confederacy, the T2 was never designed for front line combat, although its study frame and basic programming did allow for self-defence. Instead, the T2 was designed and programmed to analyse enemy movements, strategies and capabilities and react accordingly with the intention of securing outright victory for the Confederacy. As such, many T2s saw active service as generals within the Confederate armed forces. Unlike other droids in the former CIS army, it did not boast built-in weapons or acrobatic functions, and spoke in a monotone voice, hulking around in a style similar to the B2 Super Battle Droid. Like B1s, T2 droids are capable of functioning even after being dismembered, although a head shot will put them down for good.

T2 super tactical droids were considered highly capable commanders, able to process incoming data at a vastly superior speed to an organic and translate that data into easy to follow, and highly advanced battle tactics. Intended as an all-in-one solution to battlefield command, they could run the logistics, deployment and combat strategies of a droid army, all in one go.

T2 super tactical droids were very rare, only being made for deployment at the head of an entire army of other droids, and as such were very uncommon. With the end of the war, a shutdown command was issued to all elements of the Separatist military, with most T2 units being deactivated and subsequently seized by the newly formed Galactic Empire. Large numbers of captured T2 droids were not scrapped however, instead being put to work by the Empire thanks to their considerable battlefield knowledge, others were simply languishing in storage. Many of those not seized by the Empire ended up on the black market, or remained active in the hands of Separatist holdouts which had for whatever reason not heeded the shutdown command. Notably, like their BX droid counterparts, they were made with a high degree of independence, and some units were known to have simply ignored the shutdown command due to their own self-preservation subroutines.

Although they were a major component of the CIS droid army, T2 droids in working condition are exceptionally rare in the present day. Thanks to a quirk in Galactic law, however, they are considered tactical analysis droids, and as such was not banned under the widespread law banning infantry droids. However, due to their low numbers, they are still very desirable on the galactic market, due to their unique skills, and can often be found in the hands of companies, working as logistics droids (much to their dislike), or in the hands of criminals.
