Taking it to Tarsunt
Tarsunt System (Open Space)
header_20181-the-great-orion-nebula_1050_591_75_7b39dae844941110_s.jpg

[Fancybox2]Prompt:
Becuase Bothawui is an independent planet it faces many threats that other planets that are part of a larger faction do not have to face. The Bothans specialize in intelligence gathering but that means some parties see them as a danger. Some of them have hired to act on that intelligence. A group of raiders are in nearby Tarsunt space. Take them out and give the Bothans a good reason to rely on our might.[/Fancybox2]
Rayne was sitting in the captain's chair of The Cloud, her trash tray nearly full from the end caps of her death sticks, one of them still smoking slightly, however not nearly as much as the one still in her mouth. Taking a deep breath, allowing the light drug to course through her system, Rayne addressed her crew, Gents, we're about to enter a live fire scenario, no mercy, no quarter. These men are the worst the Galaxy has spit out.. Well other than the Sith.. and the Galaxy will be better without them in it. These are pirateous bastards, do not become complacent, their general lack of skill is supplemented by their numbers, stay vigilant and confirm our kills, a disabled vessel is not a downed target, we're gunning for full destruction here.. Let's show 'em what Mandalore can do.. She said, her crew consisted of not one natural born Mandalorian, but the point was the same.

Her partner, in more ways than one, @Brianna Saxon would be joining her soon, and together they'd disassemble this low level crime ring. They'd been head quartering in a space ring, by docking their ships together and living gypsy style. They would have several lookouts, but for the most part their freighters would be conjoined for a short while at the beginning of their assault.

A single blip on Rayne's radar indicated the arrival of her partner, they decided to meet out in open space but too far from the pirate ring. Heya Bri, welcome to the party, we're just finishing up some pre checks and should be ready to roll in less than sixty seconds.. Rayne called to @Brianna Saxon over her secured mandalorian comm link.

Her ship had had some recent upgrades done, and Rayne was more than just a little excited to see then in action, especially the new proton torpedo tube...

Brianna shifted uncomfortably in the cockpit of the fighter. She didn't like the closeness of the small craft, in fact she much preferred the spacious nature of Rayne's freighter. She'd remember this once she obtained her own ship. Thankfully she wouldn't have to put up with this for long. Coming out of Hyperspace, she was almost immediately hit with a hail from her partner. A smile formed under her helmet as she heard the woman's voice. She put her sublight drive on and moved to be closer to the ship. "Hey Ray, I'm all set on this end. Just give me the word. Moving to dock with you now now." Moving in close proximity to The Cloud, Brianna would dock her ship in the newly installed docking tube Rayne had placed on the ship. She kept her hand close to the disengage switch, because once the assault kicked off, they needed to get moving. She was looking forward to celebrating with Ray once this was all over.

Rayne heard Bri's symphony of a voice return her hail, it always made Rayne happy to hear the girl's voice, and with a smile she couldn't possibly see Rayne replied, We're gonna coast in that direction now.. As their docked ships began to move slowly, they have about a five minute flight until the pirate ring would come into view in the far distance.

Weapons are hot captain.. One of Rayne's crew informed her, Good.. she replied. Bri, I wanna spring the attack once we're close enough for my protons to hit hard and fast, break off on cue and we can trash their fighters in quick unison.. She explained over the comm.

The darkness of space was interrupted by the pirate ring coming into view, their ships all miss matched and dated were strung together in a circular pattern as they formed their own makeshift space station, it was no multex platform, but for a bunch of back water pirates Rayne assumed it acted as such.

How many? She asked her crewman manning the scanners.(Dice) Looks like we got more than a dozen freighters, and nine or ten fighters to boot.. He replied. Rayne hadn't expected there to be so many fighters in this group, but she assumed it made sense, and the freighters wouldn't likely be a problem in this scenario, as they were mostly docked together, and wouldn't be able to respond to the attack in time, the fighters however were a different story.

After relaying this information to @Brianna Saxon, she received a hail from the ring, apparently they actually had someone working security. Ma'am they're hailing us.. her crewman said, Let it go to voicemail.. she replied, Bri break off... she said, Fire proton missiles, open up the cannons! She commanded as soon as @Brianna Saxon's ship was safely detached.

The Cloud leapt to life all at once, it's engines, missiles, and lasers all kicking on at the same time nearly incinerating one of the freighter's shortly after beginning, the eight dual heavy laser cannons filling the empty, open space between her and the ring. The much slower proton missiles smacked into the hull of another freighter, blasting an enormous hole in the hull, sucking out the contents of whatever was inside, bodies, crates, and what Rayne was sure was probably a droid flew into the vacuum of space.

Turning her attention to the next freighter, she expertly spun the cloud on its axis to avoid what little fire the enemy ships pitifully tried to respond with, they may have had someone watching but they certainly weren't ready for a full on assault, all the while returning an overwhelming number of blasts to any section of their ships that was unfortunate enough to fall prey to her.

She knew she had come with three missiles, and was itching more than anything to let the other two out of their tube.

I've compromised the ring, let's sweep up these fighters.. Rayne called to @Brianna Saxon.

Bri punched in the coordinates for their end point on the hyperspace drive, just in case they needed to make a hasty retreat, and advised Rayne to do the same; Korriban had taught her many things, and that was one of them. The moment Rayne said the word, Bri detached from The Cloud and followed behind the freighter, matching its speed, before the missiles were launched, even joining in the salvo as she launched her own proton missile towards the docking ring; only adding to the damage it substained, as it punched a small hole right in the side of the small station. When the battle was joined, Brianna would serve as an escort of the freighter, attacking the ships that strayed too close for comfort. Rayne's initial firing had heavily damaged several ships, and now the fighters were coming to try and push them back.Bri put her engine up to just a hair under maximum velocity, as she began firing on the approaching fighters. Thankfully pirates weren't known for their starfighter squadrons, and with a few well placed shots she felled 5 of the little bastards before they began to harrass them. This squad seemed inexperienced, but perhaps they were just off guard. But the time the rest of the squadron would be organized to lead a counter attack, the pair would already be on their way out. Bri set herself up to be the escort, strafing back and forth between Rayne's ship, engaging and luring fighters into the line of fire of one of the eight weapon batteries on The Cloud. "Looking good Ray. Just don't get complacent now."

Together we've already exploded three freighters, and half of the fighters, man we're kicking butt.. Rayne thought.

She'd watched @Brianna Saxon lay waste to the fighters in quick glances, You go girl.. she said to herself.

featuredImage.img.jpg

Kicking it up a notch, Rayne began straife the incoming fighters as well, Redundant targeting, I want two turrets per fighter! She commanded her crew, a hail of Aye ayes and yes ma'ams responding to her command.

Time for a little lightning.. Rayne said as The Cloud let loose another volley of heavy cannon fire toward the uncoordinated pirate fighter wing. The bolts barreled through space, smashing cockpits, wings, and hulls alike, none of them equipped to handle the level of combat The Cloud was capable of, and not one landing a bolt that did much to scratch The Cloud's shields.

After smashing four more fighters to bits, Rayne turned her attention back to the ring of freighters, the damage inside couldn't be observed but Rayne figured the sudden open holes into space had caused some problems with the adjacent freighters, so she opted to hit some that were more than one ship away from the damaged she and Bri had already caused.

Bring the thunder! Rayne called out, her code word for launching another proton missile. It soared through space, smashing into an as of yet unaffected Mynock series Freighter. The craft was decimated from the impact, a hole large enough to safely fly a fighter through was blown in its starboard side.

As his Crux class fighter flew out of orbit, Gaz admired the green surface of Bothawui, which was also dotted with an intricate map of blinking lights where there were structures. Where the Sith had left from, it was nighttime, and a blanket of darkness covered the planet's hemisphere. He'd just wrapped up some business with a bunch of Bothans, something on the side that he hoped would at least relax the planet's view toward Sith. He was flying alongside a battle droid, not very talkative but good in case he needed back-up.

He was just about to open his mouth to say something to the droid when he spotted action up ahead. From the looks of it, a gunship was attacking a pirate encampment. There was nothing that screamed "enemy," but Gaz was in the mood for a fight, and being a Sith had its perks—for one, he could attack any random ship he wanted and get away with it. "You thinking what I'm thinking?" he asked the droid over the comms. They were about 100 meters away from the action and coming in from behind the gunship. Spotting them would be hard, and there was nothing about them that seemed hostile.

"Might want to cool it with the missiles Ray." Bri cautioned, as she blew another pirate fighter to pieces, which was soon followed up by another pair being reduced to scrap by the firepower of The Cloud. Damn that thing was impressive. Still, something bothered her, there should have been a larger response fleet than this. Unless they had caught the pirates with their pants down; but all of their freighters were in port at current? It just didn't seem right, not even a patrol craft or some sort of perimeter guard? Trying to find something amiss on her sensors would be impossible, but Rayne's ship would have a better chance. It was better to be safe than sorry in this sorts of events, especially if another group of ships was going to be moving up behind you. "Hey, Ray, are picking up any other ships on your sensors? Should be able to pick out anything near by." Bri asked, as she locked her sights on another fighter trying to flee back to the docking ring and destroyed it. It seemed a majority of the pirate forces were trying to regroup by the damaged station, as the fighters began to disperse, perhaps realizing how ineffective they were being in a head on strategy. The station seemed to be in utter mayhem at the moment, as fire and random objects bellowed out of the newly acquired puncture wounds the two Mandos had made upon it. Bri did another circle around the gunship, firing at the small pirate fighters that seemed to be considering attacking the gunship, before reeling away. If anyone was looking to do a direct attack on the Cloud, Bri would see them coming, and Ray would be the first to know about it.

Captain! Rayne's Cerean engineer crewman called out, he was working the sensor suite radar and was looking to Rayne with a worried face, at the same moment @Brianna Saxon's transmission came through, it seemed she'd thought of something Rayne hadn't. While she'd been having fun blowing pirates out of the sky, she neglected to.. reinforcements..

We have a fighter crawling up our six.. only about three hundred feet out.. he said, Kad How did it get so close! Pay better attention! Rayne responded, her spotter had let her down, and she would need to punish him for it later if things went sideways.

Rayne spun The Cloud on its axis, she hadn't been cruising at nearly that fast of a speed, and was able to easily bring nose around to begin a straight line for the forces that were sneaking up on them. Lightning! Rayne called to her gunners as she slammed her fist down on the arm of her captains chair, the armament warming up to bring a hail storm of heavy blaster cannon fire down upon the ship.

Between the triggers being pulled, and the massive bolts leaving the barrels, Rayne's spotter called out, It's Sith! Identified by the fighter's make and model appearance. Kad.. These cockroaches are everywhere! She said as the eight dual heavy laser cannon turrets filled the blackness with red bolts barreling toward the small craft.

Gaz watched as the enemy gunship tried to spin to face him, though it seemed their pilots did not realize that they were not piloting a starfighter. A gunship was big and hard to maneuver like that, not even mentioning the effects of the movements on its crew, who would likely be flying around inside of it. The enemy craft didn't even begin to wheel around when he let loose a concussive missile directly at its back, where it would hit their engines.

It didn't get to fire on him, obviously, because he fired on it while it moved to meet him. If the gunship even somehow succeeded in avoiding his missile, Gaz would unleash a rain of bolts like no other, targeting the ship's center mass and tracking its movements through the whole movement of coming to meet him. Should it not explode, he would be ready to dodge any attack coming his way.

“Task confirmed”....

Those were the only words that the massive machine construct had spoken as it utilized the Crux starfighters visual schematics to recognize and identify the two hostile threats up ahead.

The droid was too large for the cockpit but it had been stripped down to its core parts to be able to sit and align within the small fighters pilot center. As the bolts rang out towards its comrade in the night sky, XT96 rapidly turned to the right to avoid any chance of damage. Preparing its guns, it awaited command from its human counterpart.

What happened then:
Rayne's ship, The Cloud, made the turn without fault her low cruising speed making the maneuver simple. During the turn the Sith's missile smacked into the The Cloud's shields, on it's port side, the explosion and fire testing the shields, but they held, preventing the missile from causing any damage to The Cloud itself. Ma'am, shields at sixty five percent!.. her crewman yelled after the blast. Noted.. Rayne thought, but did not say.

After the turn The Cloud was in fact able to fire upon the ship roughly half it's size, its dual turreted heavy blaster cannons, firing multiple blasts and filling the space between them with hellfire. The ship had made no movement to avoid the fire, but did attempt to return fire with it's own lasers cannons, as they were heavily out numbered with the Sith's Crux class fighter bearing only two of its own light laser cannons, and The Cloud holding sixteen light laser cannon equivalent weapons. As the Sith's Crux class fighter was un-shielded, the unhindered heavy blaster cannon fire smacked into the ship, and the surrounding area, giving no room for dodging even if the ship had tried, causing overwhelmingly significant damage, as the blaster cannon fire bombarded the enemy ship whips of flames and crackles of electricity indicated it was nearly crippled. Yes!.. Rayne yelled, punching the air in celebration.

OOC: Auto hit as attacks were ignored.

What's happening now:
Ma'am enemy fire has damaged the engines, shields are failing, and tertiary systems are under assault!.. Rayne heard her crewman say, Well Bri, looks like I do actually need some help fixing my ship this time.. Rayne thought.

One more round of lightning.. Rayne ordered, and a wave of heavy blaster cannon fire flew towards what was left of the disabled fighter.

Captain!! Another crewmen yelled, We have another bogey! Closing fast!.. Kriff! She replied, Engage, speed up, Lightning! She yelled, and The Cloud lept to life, thrusters pushing the ship away from the disabled fighter and toward the newly arrived one, same make, same model Kad these things are everywhere.. Rayne said as her heavy blaster cannons opened up one wave of fire on the new ship, Thunder! She ordered, and immediately her last proton torpedo flew from its tube soaring toward the enemy. (@Faded Truth).

After the torpedo left it's tube Rayne pulled The Cloud upwards in an evasive maneuver, her shields were trashed, and her engines weren't operating at maximum, evasion was the best option for the moment, plus the new ship would need to deal with her assualt first.

Punch in the hyperdrive coords, I want out of here as soon as I'm ready.. she called to her crewmen manning the hyperdrive system, and hoped Bri had done the same already.

Brianna arced around as she catch a glimpse of a the explosion that wrapped around Rayne's ship. She felt her chest tightened as she finished her turn, to see both the fighter and ship were in the middle of a heated exchange, with the Sith star fighter appearing crippled. Brianna smirked as she opened fire on the damaged fighter. She would come at it from the side as it had moved to engaged Rayne, leaving it's flank vulnerable; not giving it a chance to get a lock on her with it's remaining proton missiles, nor fire on her with its front facing cannons. Knowing it couldn't possibly maneuver out of the way this time given the damage it had sustained, and the short distance between the two. Just like shooting fish in a barrel, she couldn't miss. If the fighter had by some miracle managed to evade that attack and survive, Bri would give him a taste of a locked on proton missile, before pitching away from the doomed fighter to prevent being caught in the blast, and move to engage the new fighter that Rayne was engaging; knowing she'd had left the opposing craft a smoldering husk. Her turn had cost her some speed, as she was slightly to the Cloud's side, she dropped down to be beneath the Cloud, giving her a line a fire at the Sith fighter, but not risking hitting her ally, nor her ally hitting her; they both had breathing room for manuevers. Given the fighter would need to roll out of the way of the incoming torpedo and the volley of lasers coming towards it, Bri would prepare another burst from her laser canons, and lock onto the fighter with her missiles. Tracking the fighters movements, she readied her fingers on the fire releases, and fired once Rayne had pulled up to take evasive manuevers. The poor pilot would have almost no time to react to a new oncoming salvo, especially if he attempted to avoid all of the shots being thrown at him currently.

Bolts raked his ship, taking out several systems, most notably kriffing up his right wing badly enough that the ship started driving left if he didn't hold it. His thrusters had taken a bit of damage as well, not running as powerfully as before, but he was still faster than the crippled gunship. He'd overestimated the abilities of his craft, and he was paying for it. Gaz had assumed the missile and sustained fire would be enough to take down the gunship's shields and obliterate it, but he had only succeeded in nearly taking them down. No problem. As the craft ahead opened fire on him again, he veered to the left, avoiding the brunt of the attack but being struck by a few more bolts on the right side of his ship. A few alarms pinged, but he ignored them.

Another craft opened fire then, from his right side, but Gaz was already moving, so the bolts only hit the back of his ship, causing a little more damage to his thrusters—all manageable, though. The gunship ahead seemed to be pulling upwards, but the Sith did not let it. In a move of patriotic martyrdom, he geared it, pushing his engines to their max, and tugging the controls so that he was flying directly toward the enemy, who was very close now. His fighter would smash directly into the bottom of the gunship as it flew up, the missile that had locked on him earlier from the enemy hitting at the same time. What would result would be a large explosion, caused by several chain reactions, and would obliterate both ships. The crew's best hope would be their craft's escape pods, assuming they even got to them in time, but the Sith doubted anyone would actually be able to escape.

OOC: Previous post is nullified, due to edits time out.
Rayne finished disabling the limping Sith vessel and barreled past it, if she'd had rear view mirrors she'd have seen it get blasted to pieces as her partner's missile struck it. She had thankfully managed to get outside the range of damaging blast, with a possibility that flying debris may have soared toward her ship, but that was neglegable at best.

Rayne's attention had been on the newly arrived Sith star fighter. But it seemed the battle with this one was much simpler than that of the last, her proton torpedo, and her wave of heavy blaster cannon fire had found its home in the Sith ship. Blasting it to tiny unrecognozable pieces.

OOC: Skip and Auto Hits due to time out.

Rayne was sweating, and breathing heavily by the time it was over, Bri? She said over the comms? Checking to see if her partner was alive. Any response would bring a thankful, Oh thank Kad.. that was way too close... we need to get out of here.. I have repairs desperately needed.. She would finish as she glanced at the Sith wreckage once more before setting her sites on Tattooine. With cheap labor and decent parts she'd be able to get the Cloud back into near perfect working order once again, and hopefully after not too long.

Hyperdrive continuity? Rayne asked her crewman. Still up and running ma'am.. he replied. Thank kad for that.. She'd reply.

With the pirates all nearly obliterated, and the surprise Sith attack thwarted, Rayne considered today a success.

Seeing the first Sith starfighter be blown to bits by her missile, Brianna smirked as she watched Rayne's ship tear into the second fighter, as Brianna launched a final missile to finish the Sith off; her cockpit lighting up as the vessel erupted in flame. Had they made it? Was it over? Brianna pulled her controls to the right and circled back around, trying to link back up with Rayne's ship. She heard the woman's voice come through on the comms, as she responded back. "I'm here Ray. You're ship looks a little rough for wear. I'll escort you back though." Taking up the back of the craft, Brianna would keep an eye out for any pirate vessels that might want to try and come after them, but it seemed the damage they had done to their little station was enough, as Brianna could see a series of flashes occurring in it's vicinity. Looked like those raiders weren't going to be a problem anymore. She smiled as she realized they had survived, and that their mission was accomplished. "You had me scared for a moment. I thought I'd have to make the flight back by myself." Bri stated, as she braced herself for a launch to hyperspace.
