The young male turned to his constituent as she spoke and slowly shook his head. An inaudible sigh trickled through his lips. Just sit back down, he thought, and shut up. You already have made a fool out of yourself. He was embarrassed that Kuat would not be silent before, that they would be needed for his future plans, and now that was just compounded. He decided that he had to do damage control for the lack of insight from the other New Republic senator, so he decided to stand and turn on his microphone to speak. He waited for the light to turn on overhead before he spoke.

"I believe that the esteemed Vice President Ordalos has meant for the donations to not be a set amount but more what the system can give." He turned his head to look at Kalist, then to Ordalos as he mentioned him. After that, he began to look out at the vast crowd and tried to gage how he was doing with their reactions. "For my people, we can give generous amounts and still be comfortable. But I understand that the vast majority of planets do not have my planet's wealth, so they give only what they can. Which reminds me, if any planet wishes to support the Star Guardians yet cannot afford to do so, Champala will review any planet's request and then, if accepted, make a lump sum donation in their name. Champalla votes 'yes' with this motion."

Aezzairrfhowrrhudrrl was really beginning to appreciate the Senator from Kuat. Senator Kalist had raised a good point that he was interested in seeing Galek address, and he was more than a little pleased to see her acknowledge the ISC's success had sometimes come at the expense of others. (@Sreeya) The Vice President's claim of the ISCRA spreading itself thin while the Consortium had simultaneously spent trillions on building the most modern fleet in the galaxy irked the Wookiee, but not enough to the point that he didn't support the motion to assist the Star Guardians. Its founder, Clove Vanhoop, had received much praise on Kashyyyk for her actions in the wake of the firebombing, so he would be foolish to vote against this motion without an ironclad reason not to. (@LilyNion)

Internally rolling his eyes at Senator Staergin's flaunting of his planet's wealth and offer to pay for others' contributions, the Wookiee nonetheless made a mental note to approach the Senator at a later date to perhaps secure funding for other projects... (@Olwin)

"The Star Guardians do not turn away anyone seeking aid, which is commendable" he commented. "I presume that voting to help fund this organization wouldn't imperil a planet or faction's neutrality should the Star Guardians provide humanitarian aid to a Jedi or Sith world?" He was confident that the ISC wouldn't have proposed this measure if that wasn't the case, but he had to be certain; he didn't want to be accused of indirectly aligning with the Sith! (@Altaris)

Galek kept his hands knitted together on the podium, posture straight and poised. The Induparan wasn’t naive enough to think everyone in the chamber would flatly agree to his proposal, but was pleased to find that no one had risen in direct opposition either. He listened, allowing his hazel gaze to flick and regard each Senator as they posed their questions.

He gestured towards Trina first. “Senator Kalist,” He began, sing-song voices gliding across the chamber. “As a member of the ISC, I am the last person to advocate for a ‘one size fits all’ model for any proposal. Each planet and government have unique circumstances and financial obligations - and any funding initiative, if it is to be sustainable, needs to be tailored to met the needs of every participating planet.” He shrugged ever-so-slightly. “Truthfully, I believe that is a question that can be best answered by individual Senators themselves, within the respective legislatures of the Republic and FWA.” He gestured towards Jasnah. “The same applies to the Empire.”

Allowing for planets themselves to decide on an amount was, undoubtedly, an easier pill to swallow. He had no doubt that fellow members of the Republic and FWA would check any planet that attempted to penny-pinch unreasonably. “I believe any amount contributed is superior to the status quo.” Which was to say that other governments contributed a grand total of nothing.

His gaze then flicked to the Senator of Kashyyyk. “Naturally.” He said affirmatively. “The Star Guardian’s - like ISCRA - are a humanitarian agency. Third party and completely neutral to the current conflict.” He tilted his head a bit. “I do not believe anyone within this chamber would view supporting them - regardless of who they treat - as a violation of neutrality.

“If there are no other questions? I suggest we move to a vote.” He allowed his gaze to flick across the room - waiting to see if anyone else raised issue.

His question answered, Aezzairrfhowrrhudrrl saw no point in voting against the measure. Perhaps he could convince the Star Guardians to open a site on Kashyyyk.

"Kashyyyk votes aye."
