"You can't just let her run around with it!"
"Well why not, hm?"
"It could be dangerous!"
"Its my lightsaber, love. It is not meant to be safe."
"She's only a child, Chor."
"Its educational."
"What if she hurts herself?"
"That will be an important lesson."

Personality
Talyc's father was a Mandalorian warrior-turned-Jedi Knight. Her mother was a Christophsian-born surgeon who never left her system of birth. It doesn't take too keen an eye to see which side of the family she leans towards. Her early years were spent with both parents but once her sensitivity to the Force became apparent, she was taken under her father's wing, and from then on most of her life was spent traveling with him. She's slightly jaded as to the innocent of strangers, though her teachings in the Jedi way mean she is still willing to give the benefit of the doubt - though perhaps not to the extent of some of her peers. She's slow to trust not because she's necessarily had a knife lodged into her back too often but simply because the nature of her life meant friends weren't kept long before she had to move on.

But because of that she has a sense of wisdom about time between friends perhaps beyond her years by some standards - enjoying looking back on what times she was allowed with such friends. So while it may sound typical to the point of annoyance, if she calls somebody a friend than they have one for life because it is not a title which she gifts freely. True friends can expect virtually anything within her power for them, even travelling across the galaxy at a near moment's notice because she hears word that they are in danger or need of help. But on the same note she generally expects the same in return. Fair's fair, as she will say.

Where combat and aggression are concerned, some more peace-minded peers might find her overly aggressive and unconventional. She could tell a half-truth and claim that she does not always reach for her saber - but that might be because she's reaching for her blaster pistol or a thermal detonator instead. One lesson her father taught her was that a Jedi is to be so much more than their saber, both in how they act to those around them and in the more "mundane" sense of martial practice and ability. So she prides herself on being flexible, multi-talented, and having the will and ability to put an entire room down if the situation escalates to that point. She will not always encourage or start the fight, but she will certainly finish it. Whether by diplomacy or blade.

Peacekeeping, she's learned, is for when there is already a peace to be kept.

She prefers to title herself a peacemaker.

Biography

R0wyN2d.gif

While the typical story of a child separated from their family at a young age is rife with death and unknown parents, Talyc's story is thankfully not so morose - and doesn't provide as much job security to the local morgues. Talyc's father was a Mandalorian-raised Jedi who had joined the Order when the Mandalorian civil war saw much of his original clan thrown into confusion and a miniature civil war all of its own. As a Jedi, his job had him traveling a great many places, and helping those in need. And it was during his time on Christophsis on a mission to help establish a new medical center that he met a young surgeons' assistant by the name of Nuray Tarracay.

Talyc was their first child, coming rather unexpectedly. And while they were happy to have a child, to this day Choruk will say that even before she was born there was something about Talyc that rang out to him. It was, he would say later, what caused him to raise her in the way he did. That and he was adamant about including practices of Mandalorian culture in raising their child up tough and capable. Where other children had their parents at their sides if they so much as scuffed their knees on the playground Talyc would be reminded that if nothing was bleeding, broken, and nobody had died then she had no reason to be crying.

At the same time she was also allowed more freedom to act in certain ways by her father - much to her mother's frustration. One moment in particular stands out in Talyc's mind of when she was only five years old and had just watched for the past three hours as her father had assembled all the components for his new lightsaber. It had fascinated her. Whenever her father was not out exploring or performing missions for the Order, if home he always had his daughter's rapt attention, and the times like those when he was working on his saber were some of the best for her. As he'd finally finished assembling the new saber, she'd spotted his original one laying to his side on the table and had asked out of idle curiosity if she could hold it.

Her father had hardly hesitated to let her see it. He had made it no secret to his wife that he wanted their daughter to grow up strong and martially capable, so he saw no issue with letting her hold the weapon for herself. Talyc's mother, on the other hand, nearly had a heart-attack when she walked in the room to find her only daughter running about with one of the deadliest hand-held weapons in the galaxy. Her parents were so busy in an argument over safety versus the value of experience that they hadn't even noticed their daughter had wandered out of the room until they heard a crash from the living room.

Choruk sensed something like a panicked cry through the Force, blind and shocked, as he and his wife had come into the living room. They found there on the floor that their daughter had knocked over an end table. She was laying, curled up, with the saber on the ground, and a hole burned clean through her lower stomach. She was given some spare kolto her mother kept about in a home aid kit and was rushed to the nearest hospital. But while she was being treated, her father finally brought up something he had suspected all along and was only now beginning to sense beyond a doubt. That their daughter was following more in his footsteps than they had realized - sensitive to the Force.

When she had recovered and was discharged in the following weeks, her parents sat down and talked to her about it. Told her what exactly it meant for her and for the family as a whole. On some level she was ecstatic at the mention that in another way she was more like her beloved father, but looking in her mother's eyes quickly put a damper on any sensation of delight. And even though she was just a few years too young to fully grasp it then, Choruk began to impart to her the inherent dangers of who she was, and the path she was going to soon walk in the coming years. Once she'd had everything more or less explained to her, Talyc had packed a few of her personal possessions, and left to follow her father for training to one day become a member of the Jedi Order.

Four months later while on Tatooine they received word that a second daughter was on the way. And though it wouldn't be until years later and through teary eyes, her mother admitted that from the moment she'd known for sure she'd hoped desperately that the second child wouldn't know the Force like her sister. And meanwhile Talyc's training continued, as fast-moving as it could considering her age and inexperience. Her father seldom gave time to be lax and lazy in her lessons.

Years would pass and as she grew older her father's lessons shifted from academic learning and more towards hands-on application. She began to take a more active role in his missions where she could, though it wasn't until she was fourteen that he'd finally begin taking her on more dangerous missions that brought her opposite slavers and mercenaries looking to kill her. And while she knew roughly how dangerous it could be, her father had reminded her, she wasn't to go sharing any of the more harrowing details with her mother during the times when she was back home to visit. Though days spent at home grew rarer and rarer, even though Talyc and her father did their best to stay in touch.

Fortune, if it could be called that, was on her side when her mother passed at only 44 years old. They'd been given the news of her having contracted it while on a mission tracking some kidnapping victims on Nar Shadaa. When her time was finally coming up and the medicine was proving not to be enough and she was simply growing tired of the constant appointments and fatigue and sickness - Talyc and and Choruk were able to come home to Christophsis to be at her bed-side with Talyc's sister Tracyn. Talyc had been coming and going from home for the last eleven years, all of Tracyn's life to that point, but the two kept each other stable while waiting at their mother's bedside.

When she finally passed, their father deemed it was simply too dangerous to have Tracyn come along with them, but since she was only eleven years old they couldn't rightly leave her on her own for the months or years they might be away. But thankfully it was through extended family, an aunt and an uncle on their mother's side, that they found a place for her to stay. But once that had been settled, duty and training called to have Talyc and Choruk say their goodbyes before leaving once more.

Further years passed, her training and preparation to one day join the Order intensified, and finally after so many years working under her father they agreed she was finally ready to go off on her own and seek out the Jedi who worked underground to strike back against the Sith.

Strength
7/10 - Years of training mean that Talyc has perhaps a bit more strength than her size would initially suggest.

Dexterity
8/10 - Agile for her height and with a focus on her dexterity, Talyc can be quite the agile gymnast.

Constitution
6/10 - A healthy diet, access to quality medical care growing up, and regular exercise have helped her stay healthy.

Intelligence
6/10 - A mixture of "street smarts" and academics from time spent with her father have left her with a sharp mind.

Wisdom
4/10 - While years spent with a Jedi can be beneficial, she's still young enough to know she can take on the whole galaxy.

Charisma
4/10 - She moves well in certain types of circles, a social butterfly with many friends within. But not so much in general.

Strengths
+ Rationally and perceptive minded, Talyc operates based on the facts that are rather than what could be, or far-flung possibility.
+ While willing to plan, Talyc believes an okay plan now is better than a perfect plan tomorrow, and works to keep her options open.
+ Talyc doesn't waste her time with mind-games and pursues factual answers with direct and honest questions.
+ Persistence and resiliency, combined with martial training, have made for a dedicated and determined soldier.
+ Talyc takes great pride in who she is and what she's done, too bold and proud to hide who she is in social circles.

Weaknesses
- Rules are fine so long as they work, and she may break them if its for the better. She does this more when authority tries cracking down.
- If pushed, she can have a disregard for her own safety and well-being in favor of protecting others from harm or danger.
- She doesn't have time to bleed, or at least that's what she says. She'll try to turn down aid for the sake of others, even if she's the worst off.
- Feelings are aches and pain telling you you're alive. Talyc often cares more about the truth and what's right than feelings of those involved.
- Seizing the opportunity is important, and Talyc may not wait for others before rushing in head-long towards danger.

I like this character. I desire RP with this character. Really excited to see where you take her.

Anyways as the person reviewing your app I'm going to have to ask you lower your Force Powers. We generally like to see Padawans starting out with their powers in the Novice level at the highest and letting them work up. If you'd like her to be a special prodigy in a power then I think having one be borderline intermediate is fine, but the rest will need to be dropped by a point or two. When you've done that let me know!

@Ral Aran

I reduced Force Telekinesis, Force Leap, and Force Speed down by a point each. I imagine Force Telepathy being her "prodigal" power, as it were.

Alright cool, I'll get her added to the roster once I've reviewed the other profiles on the list. For the time being she's accepted though. If you want to do some RPs Kai is always available! :)

I appreciate it. The format was just something I thought would look nice and I experimented with it for a bit in my Hammerspace thread. I may do an unfilled out version in there for anybody else that might want to use it.

That sounds like it could be fun. If you have anything in particular in mind, feel free to shoot me a PM, and I'll do the same if I get any ideas!
