So I don't know if it has been discussed before, but I was wondering what the general consensus is on Character view points of Faith or an Afterlife.

For instance would it be acceptable for say my Pirate to believe that if he were to die a glorious death he would go to say Valhalla?

or is it pretty universal that when you die you go to the force and that's all there is?

Many ancient Mandalorians believed that when a warrior died, he or she joined an army in the afterlife that defended families who lived on an enduring, peaceful homestead. This eternal battle, or Akaanati'kar'oya (War of Life and Death), was described as a conflict between Kad Ha'rangir, the destroyer god of change and growth, and Arasuum, the god of sloth and stagnation. Mandalorians of future generations came to view these stories as mere parables exemplifying typical Mandalorian values and would adopt a much broader view represented by the manda. The manda is described as a "combination of the collective state of being, the essence of being Mandalorian, and an oversoul." It wasn't a literal heaven, just a collective state of being, which is ironically enough very similar to ideas about the Force.

Han Solo did say "I'll see you in hell", so I imagine there might be some sort of SW version of heavan and hell.

Beliefs are what they are, but there's plenty of canon evidence that suggests one's spirit either departs to the Netherworld of the Force or Chaos, depending on their actions during life.

The Corellian religion had nine separate hells, which have been referred to in canon quite a few times throughout the Expanded Universe. It is assumed that Han Solo was referring to one of the nine when he said that.

So having a belief in some glorious afterlife is not altogether unheard of, I was just wondering.

Nope, not unheard of. Just not many on the site or in the movies that mentions any form of afterlife.

Which is a shame. You would think it would play a larger part in the story... I mean, becoming one with the Force was introduced in the movies, but that's about it.

Well I think I will be (At least with one of my characters) taking a more heart felt belief in what comes after death.

I think that's great. It brings more depth to the characters. I've made references to the manda with Corden and other Mando characters in the past. It fit it nicely, but obviously it wasn't always apparent to the reader what I was conveying since it is a Mandalorian word and concept.

Not only not unheard of, but actually outright stated. In Episode III, Yoda said that Qui-Gon returned from the "netherworld of the Force." In canon, the netherworld is heaven.
