The art exhibition held at Coruscant it's upper levels showcased the work of young and aspiring artists. The art would later that month be put up for auction. What the auction yielded would go to several organizations with their main goal being the support of civilians living on war-struck planets and cities. This gave the exhibition a more noble cause and therefore attracted the atttention of many upperclass citizens who wanted to improve their public images. The exhibition had a secondary purpose as well, for it gave the young artists an opportunity to show what they were capable of, in hopes of them gaining more fame. In fact, most of the artists were present in the large halls, who frantically tried to convince the staff that their works would look better if positioned on another wall, or under another light.
The exhibition had a few themes in common, namely hope and growth, but also death and disease. Some halls were filled with portraits and sculptures of emaciated beings, often twi'leks, while other halls were filled with beautiful sculptures of beings reaching down to help the poor on the ground. It was a masterful strategy to use different halls for this, as some would give unsettling feelings and others would fill one with hope and love. Their were halls dedicated to just paintings and portraits as well. And in those halls, between the parfumed and colorful upperclass citizens, a single muscular and tall cathar could be found.
The bright white walls were starting to hurt the cathar knight's amber-colored eyes. He had recognized some senators and even some Jedi among the numbers of well-dressed beings from all corners of the planet. Well, the corners which were located above street level, that was for sure. The sharp scent of another expensive parfume came like a bolt out of the blue as another quite fat but also rich human approached the particular painting he was looking at, even further harming Syan's sense of smell. Coming to Coruscant had certainly taught him one thing: the rich liked their parfumes. Syan refused to use that sort of stuff, but for this particular situation he did wear a suit. Normally he would simply wear his Jedi robes, but it wasn't smart to attract a lot of attention here.
The security was high, with guards around every corner and a metal detector positioned near the entrance. It obviously meant that no droids could enter the place, but it also meant that Syan had to leave his lightsaber at his rented room. The fact that no droids were allowed to enter the halls was unfair in his eyes, as there were in fact, droids walking around. Of course, they belonged to the facility and served the potential buyers all sorts of expensive wines and types of food which he, of course, refused. If the paintings were not protected by glass layers, then they would likely not come out of this hall unscathed. Wine could leave quite some stains after all.
While Syan was a fan of art, he would not have gone to the exhibition were it not for his little sister. A Jedi may not be allowed to have influencing and emotional bonds, but the order didn't have to know and have influence over everything that happened in his life. Syan and his sister have contact on a weekly and sometimes monthly basis, mainly through letters, but sometimes through holocalls. His sister was a very capable painter, but their family didn't have the credits necessary to send her to art school. So Syan paid for her education with his own hard-earned credits, and it was worth it. She often told him about what she learned at school, and where it came back in her own paintings. She worked very hard, for she was the only member of his family with a proper education. But recently, she had received an opportunity to gain a bit of fame. And that was exactly why Syan, as a proud older brother, was here. She had described her painting to him, but he had yet to find it. Syan was actively looking for it, eager to see the work which his sister had put her heart and soul in.
