ASK/TACTICAL: The Battle of Skye

Skye is a planet to our Galactic West, it is currently ruled by the Highland and Lowland clans, but the Outland's outlaws and criminals have hired a fleet of mercenaries with the goal of gaining rule of the planet. Without an effective fleet they have contacted the nearest force, The Protectorate and seek our assistance.
Yong Ki came out of hyperspace far enough above Skye,s North Pole so as not to be effected by the planets gravity. He did not even slow trusting his crew to cycle the maintenance hatch. When the sixth probe had been cycled through the hatch and his circuit completed Yong Ki' immediately jumped back into hyperspace returning to his awaiting Corvette. Even as he walked onto the bridge of his ship reports were coming in, Sir, we are receiving telemetry on objects around the planet of Skye. "All ships," said Yong Ki on the scrambled Protectorate frequency. "Individual jump points or being transmitted to each your commands establish firing solutions remember as soon as you come out of hyper space full shields to the front and open fire there is absolutely nothing in that system above the planet that is considered friendly. Each ship has a squadron of fighters to assist. Fighter pilots as soon as your main target is disabled watch for anything attempting to come up from the ground we would prefer to hit them while they are still in the atmosphere and do not have their shields on." Transmitted Yong Ki.

Even as he came out of hyperspace Yong Ki was sending maximum power to his forward Shields the telemetry readings were perfect he was inbound coming fast but slowing he was nose to the port side of the outlander Marauder class frigate. His crew only needed minor adjustments for their fireing solutions and immediately opened fire. The ion cannons leading the way his gunners were good with every laser cannon blasting into the side of the ship through the holes opened by the ion cannons. The shields were next to useless against such an attack.
His squadron of Nova's were equally as effective against the engines their own Ion and blaster cannons lancing out over and over until the Frigates engines flared out under the brutal assault.
His Shakula came to a stop directly in front of the Frigates launch bay. Is gunners then fired several salvos through the open doors as a warning to anyone attempting to leave.

Kae'Tl was late to the ensuing battle, and hastily prepared to join Yong Ki(@Wayrider) in the skirmish. Prior to departing, Kae'Tl had opted to take her own ship The Alecto, instead of the Protectorates Frigate, in light of the fact that they were likely going to be pitted against enemy star fighters and gunships. Though she was not showing up alone, as she was leading a force consisting of three D44-M Gunships, as well as three additional Axion-class Assault Ships.

The seven ships broke hyperspace simultaneously, their crews already prepped for the situation due to Yong Ki's telemetry readings. Kae'Tl was slightly surprised by the size and makeup of the enemy fleet. Their sunflash star fighters, while they couldn't be acuretly numbered, were estimated to be roughly six dozen, led by a handful(5) of Lethisk-Freighters,"Hardly a war party.." Kae'Tl said into the Protectorate's secured comm link, announcing her presence on the battlefield. The only ships on the battlefield not appearing to be the bottom of the barrel for their jobs was the four of Armed Pinnacles, and the presumed flagship of the Outland Clan, the Hammerhead Corsair Corvette,"Not what I would call a capable flagship.." she finished.

It was clear to her the opposing side hadn't expected the arrival of the Protectorate. Yong Ki and his ships had already begun to engage the hostile forces,"Yong Ki, focus on the enemy corvette, keep out of range of its ram, your fighters and my gunships will handle the enemy's smaller ships." Kae'Tl followed her previous statement, knowing full well that she wouldn't understand whatever reply the Wookie responded with, unless he had decided to employ his translator droid, unlike the last time this pair was on a mission together.

The Alecto leapt to life all at once, it's engines, shields, and lasers all kicking on at the same time incinerating one of the small star fighter escorts, shortly after beginning. The Alecto, Kae'Tl's upgraded Axion Class Assualt Ship, boasted the best offensive capability of any of it's opponents. Firing a total of eight lasers per shot, literally filling the emptyness of space with bright fire.

"Focus that Ion Canon on those Freighters I want those shields down now!"

Expertly the Alecto spun on its axis to avoid what little fire the enemy ships pitifully tried to respond with, all the while returning an overwhelming number of blasts to any section of their ships that was unfortunate enough to fall prey to The Alecto.

In only a few short moments half a dozen star fighter had fallen into the web of death and suffered the wrath of Kae'Tl's ship and crew.

There was absolutely nothing firing on the port side all the ships turbo lasers as well as the two cannons flanking the launch bay were visibly damaged. Then there was the gaping hole just ahead of the port engine. Atmosphere and whatever was not tied down including more than just a few bodies could be seen ejecting into space. Yong Ki was just about to order its surrender when he heard Kae Tl's transmission.
Roaring into the microphone Yong Ki thundered over the Protectorate frequency "what corvette are you talking about, I'm engaged with a Marauder frigate!" "Continue to blast that Frigate and find me that hoodoo eating corvette." The Wookie roared to his bridge and gun crews. Helm come about and put that Frigate on our 6.
What were th chances a corvette shows up just as he begins his attack. Even as his crew was scrambling to obey his orders Yong Ki was already trying to figure out how to find the spy who had given them away.

Kae'Tl gave the order and the Alecto spat out a pair of seeking concussion missiles, that after a short chase slammed into one of the Armed Pinnacles. A half of a breath later the ship exploded, leaving little behind.

Kae'Tl had given chase to a trio of the sunflash star fighters, her heavy laser cannons clearly too much for the obsolete star fighter's shielding, as one by one they were dismembered and set alight. The ships Kae'Tl had brought with her were have an equal amount of success, as they had also disintegrated a number of ships shortly after joining the skirmish, leaving all of the Lethisk-Freighters and s handful of star fighters in flames, completely disabled.

Chief The hammerhead this coming straight at us directly from below yelled the sensor technician. "Nova squadron," roared Yong Ki "engage the Corvette at my 6 low." "All engines reverse full get us above the frigate now," he yelled to his helmsman. Gunners establish a fireing solution and fire at will. Deploy all magnetic mines with a 30 second delay. Fire seeking missile's as soon as the solution is obtained. He could hear the engines and thrusters roaring at their maximum capacity. Alternate shields on full whatever side is facing that Corvette. Taking a deep breath Yong Ki knew that there was nothing more he could do but wait, everything was that was within his control had been done. Chuckling to himself any place else all the yelling and roaring would cause serious problems, but on a ship full of Wookiee it was just like being called to dinner. Who was the spy he wondered.

The Lethisk-Freighters, and Armed Pinnacles had all been reduced to nothing. And over half the sunflash star fighters had been eliminated at this point, leaving roughly two dozen of them remaining on the battlefield. Kae'Tl watched as the Novas broke ranks and barreled toward Yong Ki's location to assist against the Hammerhead.

Meanwhile her six ships and her own hunted down the remaining old galaxy star fighters, eliminating them easily using their considerable technological advantage. After Kae'Tl finished off the last of the sunglass, she turned her attention to the Hammerhead which at this point was getting dangerously close to Yong Ki's Shukula. Kae'Tl gave an order to her gunships,"Disable that beast!" She yelled as they all began accelerating in that direction.

" All ships," Yong Ki announced, "stay off the port side of the frigate the area has been mined." He waited until his droid had repeated the order. He heard his belly guns began firing, firing solutions having been achieved. He felt the ship rock several times under the blasts but so far the shields were still holding ,they were alternating continuously bringing full power to those facing the Hammerhead.

"Grand Councillor, I'm picking up an open frequency, they have reinforcements coming from the ground. Estimated five minutes." Dax's voice grumbled.

"Fhtagn! Relay that to all friendly units, we need that hammerhead down before they get here!" She ordered. This fight was becoming more than she had planned for.

The Alecto neared firing range to the Hammerhead, and opened it a full armament, it's heavy lasers kicking on simultaneously with its Ion Cannon. Her other ships doing the same thing, also assisted by the flight of star fighters.

The Hammerhead started hitting the mines and his full ships complement was now pounding it. By the time the last magnetic mine had attached itself to the hammerhead and exploded most of it used as a ram was gone. As his Shakula began pounding the belly of the Hammerhead the damage from the numerous starfighters became apparent the engines flaming out. Ceasing fire Yong Ki ordered, "all starfighters enter and engage all ships coming up from the atmosphere the Hammerhead is disabled and adrift." "Stop as many of those ships as possible from leaving the planet," ordered Yong Ki and then waited while his droid repeated the order over the Protectorate's scrambled frequencies.

The Outland Outlaws had come to this planet with a single purpose in mind, to revenge it and take it's precious resources. This made apparent by the sheer numbers of troops they'd brought. Kae'Tl sighed audibly as the radar lit up and Dax confirmed there were over a hundred ships heading for the atmosphere.

Kae'Tl dove the Alecto to assist the Protectorate's star fighters, ordering her gunships to do the same after the Hammerhead was confirmed disabled.

Although the Protectorate had the technological upper hand, These outlaws and their ragtag fleet certainly had the numbers. The former proved to hold more weight than the latter as the Protectorate's forces sliced through their disorganized line, like butter. Kae'Tl pulling her own weight, disintegrated a handful of enemy star fighters on her first pass alone. Her own ship taking a high number of hits, but the advanced shielding holding against the obsolete star fighter's pathetic weaponry.

Moving right to the edge of the atmosphere his engines roaring to keep it him just above Yong Ki began pounding away at the smaller ships his heavy cannons never requiring more than two shots to disable or vaporize their ships. "Target the freighters they will be carrying more troops then those fighters," ordered Yong Ki

Kae'Tl and her ships had eliminated a score of the enemy ships, the Protectorate's star fighters had done the same, and Yong Ki, who just joined in the second skirmish had already done about half that. Though they'd made a sizeable dent, the enemy still had the numbers.

Kae'Tl performed a crescent maneuver during her next pass, allowing her to fly behind a mass of enemy ships. Her cannons roared as they sent eleven more hostile ships to their death, her gunships following suit, dispatching half as many each in the same manner.

With his turbo cannons firing away freighters began dropping from the sky like rain from a cloud. Some barely able to control their landings but most going down out of control trailing plumes of smoke. Some just simply exploded actually becoming a rain of metal falling from the sky. 30 ships fell to his Guns in a matter of moments. His gunners quickly moving from one target to the next.

Nearly the entire enemy fleet had been dismantled, all but one ship, a single star fighter. Kae'Tl fired a single seeking concussion missiles at it, although she was not the only member of the Protectorate to do so, and a devilishly high number of missiles converged on, what could be called the most unlucky person in the Galaxy's, ship lighting the vast blackness of space up with a beautiful fluorescent blue color.

"Oh my.." Kae'Tl said, a little surprised at the vast overkill that had taken place.

" Long range scanners show no additional ships chief, the telemetry readings that we are receiving from the probes are negative as well," said Yong Ki's navigation officer. Moving away from the atmosphere of the planet, Yong Ki ordered his helmsman to take up a stationary orbit and standby for updates. Over the Protectorate frequency Yong Ki advised Kae Tl of the data received an allowed his droid to repeat before shutting off the connection.

The total death toll on this day was higher than Kae'Tl had expected. The enemy force was supposed to be a small war party, and ended up being a full armada. Protectorate ships had taken some damage, and a few men had sustained injuries, but other than that there was no real damage done to the Protectorate's forces.

Thankful for that, Kae'Tl gave the order to return to Terminus, as the ships began to disembark, and hit hyperspace Kae'Tl opened up a video line with the Highland Clan. And after a short conversation about their victory did the same with the Lowland Clan.

"We need some R and R.." Kae'Tl said to her crew just before hitting hyperspace herself.
