Vayla watched her companion’s movements as though he were the asteroid himself, and she was just orbiting around him; Casey’s arm coming down to be placed beside the Pelican like flowers on a grave. One small step. One giant leap. Quin had taken both, was taking both. The journey never ends… The stars never sleep.
From one mission to the other, one Padawan to the other, from this shadow to that star, she would not stop. As long as there were Quin Leonkris between those shadows and stars, those souls who ejected light and emitted warmth, well, Vayla Mirana, the Mirror Master, would be there to see them through.
“Do you see them?” They were both gazing skyward now. “Those are our beacons, Quin; fireflies to guide us in the night. There is Pantora.” She pointed. “And over there is Naboo.” It didn’t matter if her finger actually found those worlds or not. The message was the same.
“And here we are, just two leaves in the sea, but a sea that parts for our sails.” Vayla gave a little chuckle behind her helmet, recognizing her own obscurity more often than not. “Let’s go home.”
