The battle was short much unlike the recovery for the knight, the battle for the safety of the padawans did not turn out as expected. Leaving him a few new scars on his body, but thankfully by the grace of the force Brand had made it back to Jedi space and was getting treatment on the Jedi temple of Lothal. He didn't remember how he got back into Jedi space but however it was he was not going to complain, sure he would have rather not be stuck in a hospital bed but there wasn't much he could do. An as he spent time thinking and wondering the Knight began to think of the future and what it may hold, the Sith were growing more bold and aggressive as time goes. Which made the Jedi begin to think on training a Padawan, which would be the first time he had done so, only after his battle and having been in many before was he promoted general.

He wondered the wisdom in it but he figured best he took on his duty with some measure of vigor, and had called for a Padawan to meet him in the medical bed. A young boy from what he understood, the room had a open window a small table to the right of him with his two lightsabers on it. The room had plenty of space for the newly promoted Jedi general, waiting for the young Padawan, someone who he thinks will make a good apprentice for him. This would be the first time he took on a Padawan and he was slightly nervous but he felt this was right, and the force gave him a sense of calm when he meditated on the topic.

The day was just starting and Brand was out looking to the window waiting for his new Padawan to come, but all the young Padawan knew was he was meeting the new general of the Jedi knight.

It was difficult time for young padawan. He was so happy and proud, when he finally got a master... he surely didn't think his master would leave the order just shortly thereafter. It was difficult, to get back to his training at temple, this time on Lothal, but nobody ever said, that being a jedi is easy. Patience was the cornerstone of jedi teaching after all. So he was... or tried to be... but he was slowly getting more and more impatient. And quite a lot of his teachers could spot that...
So when he was summoned to Jedi General staying on Lothal, he naturally thought, that it is because of this. Perhaps, he was going to get a lesson in patience from a jedi veteran or something around those lines. He shouldn't probably speculate, before he knew, but he was quite nervous. Even more, where he learned, that this general is waiting for him at medical bay. He went slowly, thinking about all the possibilities, unsure if it was a good news, or a bad one... he was thinking the entire way to the medical bay, until he was standing in front of the correct door. He took a deep breath and opened the door.
He entered slowly.
"Hello? I'm padawan Amaru... I was informed you wanted to speak with me, general..."
He said when he entered the room.

Brand was watching the window when he felt the presence of a new feeling coming within his area, it was a nervous presence as if unsure of its purpose. It did in fact make Brand remember his early days as a Padawan and how when he first came to the temple when he was younger he was unsure and nervous. His mandalorian heritage clashing with the normal Jedi way of thinking, though the transition went better than his younger brother who struggled with the different way of thinking though he felt his younger brother has become a fine Jedi.

He waited a few moments before the door opened revealing the young chiss Padawan, he looked barely 15 years old by what he profile said having read up on said Padawan a bit. But he was sure the young man will grow more as the years go by, and Brand figured best to see it though as the boy's master. Knowing he lost his master, and seeing that Brand also needed to also do his part in helping the next generation prepare for the years to come, though he hoped that he would be able to see to the end of the Sith for them.

"Yes please come in Padawan. An please you can just call me Brand." The general said waving the Padawan closer to him, hoping to ease the young man's worries about what was happening.

"Padawan Amaru do you have a idea of why I asked for you?" Brand wanted to see how smart the kid was and if he could deduce what was going to happen or what he was about to be asked of.

Amaru was quite nervous when he arrived. And even a little more, when the general introduced himself. He was used to calling the other just "master". Calling one just by his name was atypical.
"I'll try, master Brand..." he said after a second of hesitation. It just wasn't like him to suddenly change his habits.
He calmed down a little when he was asked another question. His analytic chiss brain started to work, there was no time for being nervous anymore.
"Well... I think there are 2 possibilities that I can think of... the first one is, that I'm being reprimanded for my impatience lately... since impatience isn't the jedi way. And if a jedi general just happened to be passing by the temple he could be asked to speak with a difficult student. The second one is, that you are going to be my new master, though that would probably be rewarding my impatience, which seems counterproductive... " he said. He wasn't sure if the second option wasn't just his wishful thinking.

Brand watched as the Padawan took a moment to understand his request, though it seemed the young man was still not comfortable enough to not include the master as a title for him. It was strange to Brand how he was now a general in the Jedi army but he had to make due with what he had, understanding with his new position he would need to always have his best foot forward.

Watching the young Padawan think on the reasoning for his summons brought a bit of hope to the Jedi general, the Jedi Padawan wondered out loud and as he figured the two possible reasons Brand had a small smile. Seeing he hit the target even if he didn't believe it to be the case, the general decided best to ease the worry of the Padawan, who seemed to be serious worried over how impatient he apparently was.

"Well Padawan you can relax I am not here to reprimand you in anyway. Though I assume later on you might need to work on being patient, I am in fact looking for a Padawan. An with my new position as Jedi general I figured best to get a Padawan to help the future of the order. An unlucky for you it seems I have chosen you to be my Padawan." Brand said smiling knowing his leg was better now, he slowly got off of the bed and stood straight his shadow engulfing the small chiss, but the General smiled down as his new Padawan.

"So tell me, do you wish to me my Padawan Erida?" Brand asked knowing it was best to ask for the young man's opinion so he didn't feel he was just a worthless piece in it all, because that was not true, Erida represented the future of the order.

It seemed, that he was not going to get kicked out from the order after all. After so many years it wouldn't be practical for either side after all. He was chosen by a jedi general to be his new padawan, which, of course, was a huge opportunity to learn from somebody, who had actual experiences with combat. And probably vast knowledge as a jedi...
"It would be a great honour to be your padawan, master. And I can assure you I'm working on my impatience all the time... and I hope I will be up for... whatever it would make it unfortunate for me to be chosen."
He said.
"Just one thing, if you don't mind... I usually use my core name, Amaru... since my whole name is... too long for most people to use."
He explained. He was explaining it pretty much to everyone who ever called him by name. Mostly because chiss were isolationists... so not many people knew about their culture... and by extension their names...

Brand know that the young Padawan wouldn't understand at first what his words meant but he did hold the kid would guess it, but it seems the general would have to explain it to the young Chiss.

"As General I will be in the front lines doing my best to fight off the dark side. Which would mean my young friend, you will most likely be joining me on the battle field." Brand said with a sad smile, not wanting to see ore suffer the fate of war, and the pain that it brings.

"But know I will train you before you have to fight, and I will be with you ever step of the way." Brand was sure there was much for the kid to learn, about fighting and battle as the two was not the same thing.

Brand hearing that the Padawan wished to be called Amaru, felt that the relationship between master and Padawan would do him good, and hoped that maybe his younger brother could have such a thing soon. But concentrating on the present the Jedi figured best to see what his young Padawan was like on a personal level.

"Well Amaru tell me about yourself." Brand said before beginning to walk forward slowly, signaling for Amaru to follow him, as he headed out of the medical wing of the temple and to the courtyard of the temple.

Though he didn't find his time in the room bad, the General enjoyed being outside and not stuck to a single spot, and wanted to spend time learning more of the newly constructed temple.

"Well, I know that being Jedi is dangerous... and among historian, diplomats, keepers of knowledge there are warriors. And your title kind of gave away that you are probably getting into a lot of fighting..."
He understood it, or at least thought he have. He wasn't sure he knew how war looked like, but he had at least some idea. It was good to know that he will be trained before he will see some action.
"Well... I don't know what to say... hmmm... well I'm a chiss, obviously... I was found by pirates and spacers in wreck of my parent's ship... I was raised among them, then found out by a jedi... and trained as one... I spent most of my time in temple on Tython... I had a master for a short time... then she left the order and left me here... "
He said while following the general.
"I have some troubles understanding the Force... I gathered it's because we are mostly rational people... and Force is something seemingly beyond that... "
He finished.

Brand listened to the boy who seemed to get that even if Jedi should be peaceful but sometimes fighting was necessary to keep people safe, to make sure the dark side could not cling into the galaxy. An though sometimes those that wish to live peaceful lives most take up arms to stand up against evil, because when good man stop fighting evil, would be the day the evil win.

"Though my job is to lead the Jedi war efforts, but my job is also to get support from allies and those that could be potential allies. So though you might get into some conflicts, you will also be learning to approach people of political, economic and military power, though it is also new for me, I have always been more of a on the feet Jedi. Going out to help those on the grounds not sipping tea, but I am sure together we can learn together." Brand said smiling down at his Padawan hoping to show that even he was not perfect, since it was true the general had much to learn himself and teaching was something he could use to help learn more about the force, and himself.

The general listened to the story of how the young Chiss came to be with the Jedi, from being raised by pirates than taken in by the Jedi, it was a interesting story. Brand's was nothing like it, being born from a Mandalorian family and being taught by them before a Jedi approached the family and he and his younger brother was taken to learn. It was sad to hear that the Padawan had lost his past master, which did worry the general as there was to many Jedi leaving the order they needed to be united to fight off the Sith.

As they walked outside of the temple and into the courtyard there were few younglings and older Jedi watching them only recently did this use to be a crater but now with great effort it was rebuild. Now once again it was a place of peace, and it was their duty that it stayed that way.

"Remember Padawan we are servants to the force, instruments for the light side to heal and protect the people of this galaxy. We might never truly understand it but know it is with us, it is in all things, everyone living has the force. An though the Sith may try to corrupt it they will never succeed in doing so." Brand said hoping to ease the worries of the Padawan, fully prepared to answer any questions the young Chiss had for him as they were going to be master and Padawan now.

"Well, even though it will probably be quite dangerous, I wouldn't be good at keeping the archive organised or studying history... I think. So I think in this we might be similar?"
He said. He valued knowledge, and liked acquiring it, but only in his free time, doing it as a "job" would probably drove him insane sooner rather then later. Meanwhile they left the medical bay and were walking through the courtyard. There were a lot of jedi or different ages. This place was indeed nice, but he liked the temple on Ilum the most. It had nice and pleasant climate, at least for him, and it was the closest to the place his people lived...
"Yeah, I know all the theory behind it... but I think I have problem believing... in a way. I can see others using Force, so I believe it can be done... it's obvious. But even then I have trouble believing I can do that... does that make sense?"
He asked. Problem was, that he didn't even understand why he didn't understand...

Brand was glad to hear the young Padawan seemed to feel that they were similar already, it showed that this might be a good apprentices for each of them. As they walked the nice breeze hit them, not to chilly but it seemed to keep them in a nice temperature while the sun was high up and giving them a clear view of the entire courtyard. It wasn't very bright and it did make the whole scene seem very nice and pretty.

But the talk of the force seemed to give the young Padawan some difficulty, which was understandable as the force was something that many elder masters can't follow understand either. So the Jedi waited to give himself sometime to think of a good response to help the Padawan to understand what the force was to him at least.

"The thing about the force Amaru, is that it is vast and it is almost impossible to truly understand. It might be difficult to fully grasp how it affects us all and gives us the ability to help those in need. But understand you are a Jedi like myself and anyone else, the force is strong in you and I think together we will see that great things are done for the people of the galaxy." Brand said looking down at his Padawan hoping his little speech would be helpful to the young man's desire to grow and learn more so eventually he will be among the many Jedi fighting to keep the galaxy at peace.

As they walked Amaru felt cold breeze, it was very pleasant to him. It reminded him of frozen wasteland of his home planet... even though he never been there and he was able to find very few information about it. According to the info it was very, very cold...

"Well I guess under the guidance of jedi general I should be able to finally understand Force enough for those problems to disappear. And I am very much looking forward to learn something. I don't want to sound ungrateful, since I am very grateful to every master who taught me... but I think I will learn more from you, then from someone, who is teaching several students at once... so... where do we start master?"

It sounded like he is both willing and eager to learn something.

(OOC: I am sorry that it took a while for me to post.)

Brand was glad to see that his Padawan was eager to learn it was a important quality in any Jedi, Padawan to General, they all continued to learn as the force taught them what they needed. As there is never a end to the amount they most learn, for there was just so much that they could about the galaxy and force. Even Brand knew there was still much he needed to learn and he as a servant of the light would continue to serve it to the best of his abilities.

"Under anyone I am sure you would come to get a better understanding of the force. Many of the teachers you had in the past were there to help you get a understanding of what is to come and hopefully make it sure that when you are a Padawan that you will be able to handle what happens. As for where we start why don't you show me what you can do. A small little sparring match if you will, just got to set your lightsaber to practice mode an than we can see what you can do." Brand was sure the kid was capable but for now he needed to see how capable if he wanted to take the kid out to missions on hostile worlds.

Brand would head further from the temple away from the other Jedi so to give the two plenty of space for the spar, sure that many might want to watch but the sparring match was to teach mostly, Brand on his padawans skills. An maybe to see if the Padawan might be able to learn something from the general in the match, thankfully the courtyard was vast and as they walked they would reach a point where they were on a elevated platform which was large enough for a few sparring matches could take place. The nature was just beyond it and gave the place a nice scenery.

Like his former master, this one too wanted to start their work with a practice duel. It made sense, since most jedi had to fight sometimes. And even though a lightsaber didn't make one Jedi, it was perceived as a symbol of being one by most people. And Amaru was one of those padawans who could use it decently. At least for his age...

"As you wish, master. I will try not to disappoint you with my swordsmanship."

He said and followed his new master to the more remote part of the temple, where, hopefully, nobody will interrupt them. After a short while Amaru was prepared, with his blade switched to practice mode. Amaru was prepared for a fight. But instead of his usual stance he chose to hold lightsaber in reverse grip. He learned something about it from hi former master, but not enough to use it fight for longer time. His intention was to switch into his regular style after short time, hopefully surprising his master...

Brand was a little surprise by the padawan's response, the general wouldn't have been disappointed if his Padawan didn't have much skill with the blade. For that was why they were going to be together so Amaru learned to both use the force and the lightsaber. As the Jedi was both equal parts scholar and protector, so having to understand and capability to use a lightsaber was important for all Jedi though it didn't need to be the largest part of the Jedi.

"You can no disappoint me Amarua, we are always learning. So do not fear ever disappointing anyone. We always have to grow so no need to worry about such things." Brand said as he watched his Padawan, take out his lightsaber switch it to practice mode which made the general smile before putting on a emotional mask to hide his feelings.

He wasn't going to push to much but he wasn't going to go easy on his Padawan, war was here and their was little time for them to train. So wearing his brown Jedi robes the general grabbed a lightsaber on his belt, only one and hold it lightly in his right hand as he activated it and turned it on practice mode. The blade pointed outward to the ground, after a moment where the wind would blow between them. And a single leaf went past the pair, the general would swing with just his right arm with full force going from the kid's left hip, to Amaru right shoulder. Their wasn't a lot of force behind the generals strike, but his greater strength would still make it so the smaller Chiss had to be careful.

Brand wanted to see how the Padawan reacted before making his next move, moving his right foot forward and his left foot behind his right. While the swing was happening, which would make it more difficult for the general to be hit, as his right shoulder would be facing the Chiss.

Amaru nodded to show, that he understands. He knew, that some masters expected their new padawans to already master certain skills. Amaru was skilled duellist... for a padawan. He could hardly surprise a jedi general, but he could at least try to do his best. Still holding his blade in reverse grip he waited for general to make first move, which he soon did, attacking his left hip with a pretty standard strike. Amaru quickly moved around his axis, blocking the strike with his blade, using the power of the strike to jump backwards, gaining some breathing room.

It wasn't exactly clever to use grip he wasn't accustomed to, so he switched to his usual grip, taking defensive posture. His style was purely defensive, so he just stood there, waiting, once again. Amaru was rarely striking back, mostly when he saw some opening and jedi general was probably too skilled to provide one this early in combat... or ever...
