Night gathers, and now my hunt begins…
Of course, in space, it was always night.
Take oneself to a planet, yawn toward the dawn and bask in the bright daylight, but when darkness falls there was...silence…
There was a voice yet. A call. A word. A song? Perhaps, if one had the ears so inclined to hear the beats, the beats, the beats…
They were like drums; like drums beating blood between bloody ears, and all throughout the years Kayden Skyler had wondered what those words meant.
The light was a lie. Outer space was an endless night. The stars were never bright. The stars are never right.
‘The day is my enemy…’ Kayden cradled the lyrics between his ears, listening to the seductive voice from the speakers of his cockpit. She wanted him. Wanted to kiss him. To eat him. To suck him dry and leave him a husk. Come kiss me. Come see.
Then there was light.
Silence exited hyperspace, much to the dismay of their prey, though the latter would not know it until some moments yet.
Kayden, the Black Captain as some called him, steered his vessel toward the hunt, creeping closer like the ship was a shark and space was a sea.
‘The night is my friend…’
And he showed his fin.
A barrage of bolts blasted from his ship’s cannons, barrelling toward the cargo freighter cruising on its lonesome like a worm upon a grave. The shots soared over the ship’s bow. Down. Down. Down.
“HAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!” Kayden cried from his cockpit, unfazed that only his crew could hear him. His prey would hear him soon enough.
