The Emperor's Address

Across the galaxy, millions of people tune in to the HoloNet to a pre-scheduled broadcast from the Imperial capital of Bastion to address the recent changes in government. The throne of the Emperor, for so many years left empty by the Sith Lords who claimed it, now seats a man. Behind the throne stand several men, garbed in great red helms and cloaks - their faces hidden from view, a lightsaber at their belt. Clad in ceremonial armor, the man appears not a day older then 40. With a charismatic smile, the man looks at the Holocam to address the galaxy.

'Men, women, ungendered, multiple gendered or other. Citizens of the Galaxy. People of the Galactic Empire, the Chiss Ascendency, Hutt Space, the Hapes Consortium. People of the Centrality, Mandalorian space and the Galactic Alliance. Members of the religious orders of the Sith, the Jedi or otherwise. From the Deep Core to the farthest reaches of the Unknown Regions, I, Emperor Tyrn Lightell the First, humbly greet you good morning, day, evening or night. I have scheduled this transmission in order to settle rumours that have spread like wildfire from here on Bastion. I come to you today to dispel rumours, clarify many a situation, and perhaps offer some hope in these dark times.

'Many of you will not know or recognize my name. Others will question my right to sit here on this throne as I do now. The legitimacy of my place here is no doubt a concern to many of my own subjects, and so I will address this first and foremost. As has been previously mentioned, I am Tyrn Lightell, son of Roros Lightell of Serenno - a Count of Serenno in his time of strong repute, though we have admittedly been estranged for some time. However, the blood of nobility still runs strong in my veins - the blood of Jedi, Sith, Rich man and poor, my blood can be traced back to the very founding years of the Republic itself. As the galaxy has grown, thrived and suffered throughout the millennia so too has my family.

'Many will know that the old Emperor was cast down from his throne by the Sith many years ago, ending the old dynasty of Emperors, casting aside the Imperial Knights, and, eventually bringing us to war with the galaxy. The last of these Sith Emperors was one Darth Exodeus. I would not be sitting here now if he still laid claim to the Empire.

'In the last few days, there was an...internal struggle of power amongst the Sith who previously ruled the Empire from this throne. Complacency has riddled this Empire in recent times, and it was that failure that allowed me the window to take the throne back from the Sith, permanently. Since then, I have met with the new leaders of the Sith, and we have reached an agreement that the throne is now mine, and ushers in the First Lightell dynasty of the Galactic Empire, with the Sith answerable directly to the Emperor himself - in this particular instance, me.

'These are dark and dangerous times in the galaxy, and I believe that now more then ever, the people of the galaxy must work to restore broken bonds between one another - as such, I am hereby personally requesting contact from delegates of the Chiss Ascendency, Galactic Alliance, Jedi Order and Mandalorian clans in the coming days in order to begin negotiations with the Galactic Empire.

'As a sign of goodwill towards their allies, I request the Ascendency deliver to us any prisoners of war that once declared their allegiance to the Empire - including any members of the formerly exiled Imperial Knights. I seek to re-employ the Knights as my personal bodyguard, out of respect for the service their forebears gave to the previous Emperors. I also formally request the leader of the remaining Knights-in-Exile to contact the Imperium, in hopes of rectifying the mistakes of the past.

'To the Mandalorian clans, I would like to extend the olive branch. I feel that past decisions by previous Emperors were made hastily, and the disrespect the Empire showed towards this proud people and their ancestral home cannot stand. Hopefully in the coming days we can heal the wounds of the past, and return you to your rightful home.

'To the Galactic Alliance, this war has been hard on us both, but it has been hardest on the families of those who remain imprisoned by their enemies. I humbly request a trade of prisoner, both Alliance and Imperial, Sith and Jedi. Whatever our differences in this war, let us let our people come home to their families.

'Finally, to the Jedi. I request but two small tokens - trivial matters at best. The first is a sword, owned by my family from the earliest days of the Republic - the blade of Edo Tesu, a Lightell in all but name, whose sword remains with the Jedi to this day. The blade has long been a family heirloom, and I would request it returned to me, as a show of good faith.

'Finally, the second item is...something rather closer to my own heart. I have heard rumour, even from here, that a young lady I once knew serves the Jedi Order. Jedi Master Kara Vaalki and myself were once wed in our youth, though our time together was unfortunately brief. I humbly request that she is to be the one to deliver the sword to me, that I may lay my eyes on her once more, and remember the bliss of our youthful love. It would...it would mean a great deal to me to see the great woman she has now become.'

The man pauses for a moment, lost in the memories of the past. For a moment his gaze goes distance, his face seemingly recalling a memory once thought long forgotten. The moment passes, and he gives a shy smile at the Holocam before continuing, having regained his composure.

'People of the galaxy, I tell you all of this, for I believe together we can resolve the mistakes of the past, and usher in a new golden age for the galaxy. Together, with willing hearts and minds, we can re-unite the galaxy in peace and prosperity. That is why I address you all today. Because this is not a matter that simply effects the governments of the galaxy, nor the religious orders of the Jedi and Sith. What I aim to achieve affects each and every one of us, great or small. But it can only happen if we are all committed to this cause. I hope you will join me on the long path to peace. Thank you.'
