I'd recommend going over the old Grey Jedi workshop thread, we went over how something like lightning is an intrinsically Dark Side power. Not sure what @Green Ranger said about Jedi using it, but the concensus was that it's an angry, wild, corrupting power by itself. You'd need to be angry and coursing with rage and/or some other corrupting emotion to be able to cast and wield it effectively.

...further backed up by characters such as Plo Koon (A Jedi Council member in a period of strict and almost unprecedented adherence to orthodoxy, remember) using a variant of Force Lightning, a power that is about as Dark as Dark can get.

Um, that was a Legends reference, and it was used to show that Grey Jedi don't exist in nucanon and can't exist in this canon. I just don't see something like Lightning, in any capacity, being a "light" power in any kind of definition. </2cents>

If you guys read the force thread for this timeline, it mentions energy manipulation as one of the powers, http://www.thestarwarsrp.com/forum/index.php?threads/guide-to-force-powers.64253/ , and this bears repeating for those who are looking to use dark side abilities or even think of drawing on it in a Yin-Yang type way.

" the Dark Side of the Force draws its power from passion, raw emotions, aggression and, above all else, the corruption of, and destruction of life itself. In direct contrast to the passive nature of the Light Side's influence on a Force User, the Dark Side can have a drastic influence on a practitioner. Make no mistake, the dark side in this rp is an active force all onto itself, and drawing on its power is going to leave its mark on your character and make them turn fully if you intend to have them do it more then once, or even twice, in the entire rp. Not once or twice in a while, once or twice. I have a distinct feeling the admins are going to specifically be on the lookout for characters who try to use the Light and Dark sides like they're just different branches of a skill-tree and stomping them out.

Anyway, from the same section, there is this gem from energy manipulation,

"For many, this is immediately recognizable as the Sith's iconic conjuration of lightning, but this is but one of many manifestations of the Force in such a manner. A Force User might also be expected to be capable of conjuring a blinding light, or instead manifesting an offensive attack as a jet of flames, or raw, unshaped Force energies - such projections are a manifestation of the user's own will upon the Force, and as such can take many forms. Such attacks can be evaded or resisted, however. A Force User may also use such energies to enhance a weapon, enabling it to resist the burning blade of a lightsaber. "

This means, basically, that you can make your jedi use energy attacks, but just not Sith Lightning, or probably any lightning. If I'm reading this right it means the jedi are capable of using such manipulations as well in an offensive capacity, or perhaps purely defensive.

Just don't draw from things like Anger, Jealously, Out-Of-Control emotions, and most likely especially not Traumatic Memories that could involve a lot of sadness or invoke a lot of anger in your person. Or you're going to have a bad time as the dark sides new plaything.
