Trace and Ailis had both had their numbers come up for "the gauntlet." The reputation of this particular obstacle course preceded itself and although she knew she'd likely be subjected to it at some point, she hadn't been looking forward to it. Really, not much was known about it other than many acolytes didn't come back and those who did often had serious injuries.
A transport had picked them up along with several other acolytes and dropped them off on some foreign, forested planet. Her lightsaber hung from her belt and she glanced back at Ailis as they waited for the instructor to arrive.
I'm nervous, she admitted. She didn't mean this in a judgmental way, but she silently wondered to herself if Ailis was ready for this. This was going to be... quite the test for a relatively inexperienced acolyte, but Trace couldn't deny that Ailis had come along quite far in recent days.
