The Insurgency
As we live and breathe, we, the Galactic Insurgency against the Sith Empire, do therefore before—and by the responsibility vested in us—by the free beings of the Old Republic, solemnly vow:
To lead the opposition against the Empire and its forces, by any and all means at our disposal;
To encourage civil disobedience against any Imperial law contrary to the rights of free beings;
To bring about the destruction of the Sith Empire and of its Emperor;
To restore the Republic and the ideals of democracy and justice it embodies;
To make forever free all beings in the galaxy.
To these ends, we pledge our name, our property, our honour, and our lives.
― Pact of Insurgency
The Galactic Insurgency against the Sith Empire, commonly known as the Insurgency, is a resistance movement formed by Hadrian K. Richter, former Senator of Nubia, to oppose the Sith Empire and restore the Republic. This group united from a series of independent rebel cells across the galaxy.
The Insurgency and the cells before it were born from the overall resentment within the Empire experienced by the citizens of the Empire and defectors from imperial regiments who wished the Republic restored and whose efforts were led by former members of the Senate such as Hadrian K. Richter.
Waging an all-out war against the Sith Empire, the Insurgency intends to take back every Republic world one-by-one from the Sith Empire's control if it has to in order to restore justice, diplomacy and freedom to the galaxy.
The Insurgency has chosen a green nightscowl as its sigil.
HISTORY
The untimely demise of the Old Republic was swift and unequivocal. Coruscant was the first Core world to fall into the control of the Sith Empire after a sudden and vicious attack despite rabid resistance. Due to its poor and stagnant leadership, the forces of the Republic were unable to stand their ground when the Sith Emperor next launched an attack on the Galactic Senate then located on Chandrila.
The death of Kyuss Thaun at the hands of Jedi Knights Shae Vis and Ahzek Shahi came at a high cost: while the Senate building was bombed, the newly anointed Emperor, Darth Malon, and the then Grandmaster of the Jedi Order, Annileen Draay, duelled in the Senate convocation chamber leaving it destroyed beyond repair. The Senators left alive after the attack either fled and went into hiding, swore loyalty to the Empire and now operate off their homeworld as government officials, or joined pro-Republic rebel cells.
Deprived of its leaders and abandoned by the Jedi Order, Republic worlds fell one after the others in the five years that followed the initial victories of the Sith Empire. The unity that had made the Republic a force to be reckon with would prove to be its downfall.
In the final days of the Old Republic, several organizations had already begun to break up into smaller and smaller parties to fight the Sith Empire in their own ways. Most were strictly local movements, determined to free an individual planet or star system from Imperial rule. Such movements risked running afoul of the Empire’s intelligence agents, Inquisitors and enforcers, who dealt ruthlessly with any sign of larger-scale resistance. Many would drift to the Outer Rim to relative safety from the ever increasing strength of the Sith Empire. Over the next five years, groups would rise and begin to gain traction but would inevitably be exposed and beaten until they broke or were non-existent. Smaller groups roamed the galaxy doing what good they could do but were never able to muster enough influence for any lasting change.
The radical Galactic Liberation Front (GALAF) and secretive Guardian were the most well-known amongst those rebel groups. Led by Bria Tsuani until her mysterious disappearance, the former was an insurgent organization based on the remnants of the Accord, the Republic, and various displaced individuals. The group was completely focused on disrupting Imperial operations in the Outer Rim, specifically in the sectors surrounding their former base near Christophsis and was composed of the Serpent Fleet, an elite squadron undertaking its own operations under Imperatrix Apophe KeYahm which secured a lasting alliance with the government of Zakuul. Meanwhile, Guardian and its leader Rannix undertook several operations before successfully establishing an intelligence network within Sith Space tracking and monitoring leading Imperial Personnel unbeknownst to Sith Intelligence.
However, even these two large rebel organizations were unable to make any significant dent in the Sith Empire's power bases. Years of attrition and little progress stagnated the participation in such groups across the galaxy and opposition to the Emperor's rule over the Old Republic faded with each passing day.
The idea of unifying all of the Rebel factions came from a small band of former Senators led by Hadrian König Richter. They decided they only had two choices, watch as the remaining rebel groups got picked off one by one or unite and throw everything they had at the Sith Empire in one final, desperate attempt to liberate the free beings of the galaxy.
The Insurgency’s origins could also be traced to clandestine meetings of Senators that began in the final days of the Republic. Privately, they began preparations for a time when resistance might have to progress beyond political arguments in the Senate, but it would prove to be a long and extremely difficult process to unite those opposed to the Empire under a single banner.
In time, Hadrian König Richter invited the leaders of all the rebel organizations to coalesce into an organized Insurgency with a centralized leadership in order to efficiently oppose the tyranny of the Sith Empire and restore the Republic. Under this new organization, the Galactic Liberation Front (GALAF) and the Serpent Fleet were restructured as its military, while Guardian served as its Intelligence Task Force.
PHILOSOPHY
I will be a voice for those who can not speak.
I will fight for those who can not fight.
I will oppose Sith oppression wherever it takes root.
I will not rest until freedom reigns again throughout the galaxy.
I will rebel.
― The Rebel's Creed

Alternatively, pilots are more then welcome to use their own spacecraft when conducting missions for the Insurgency. These must however be registered to the Insurgency's Central Command (linked in your character's profile) in order to avoid confusion.
RANKS AND ORGANIZATION
Commander-in-chief
Second-in-command
Captains
Emissaries
Executives
Commanders
Governors
Operatives
Freedom Fighters
Ambassadors
Intelligencers
Freedom Fighters
The Freedom Fighters form the backbone of the Insurgency. Free beings of all sort courageous enough to take arms against the tyranny of the Sith Empire despite the odds. Pilots, smugglers, medics, former members of the Grand Army of the Republic or the Border Alliance, imperial defectors, all are welcomed with open-arms in the ranks of the Insurgency's military as long as they abide its code of honour. Freedom Fighters will be remembered as heroes once the Republic ultimately reforms. Individuals who demonstrate exemplary leadership abilities may be promoted to Commanders and Captains to lead assaults against the Sith Empire.
Ambassadors
The Ambassadors are the representatives of the Insurgency. Comprised of former Senators and other political figures, they reach out to local government officials and liaison with smaller rebel cells in other to secure resources for the Insurgency, grow its numbers and entice rebellion. Provided the Insurgency acquires territory, Ambassadors may be promoted to Governors to handle daily affairs on a planet and represent that world's interests to the Insurgency's Central Command. Governors excelling at their position may be granted the title of Emissaries and routinely represent the interests of the Insurgency to allied factions.
Intelligencers
The Intelligencers are vital to the Insurgency's war effort, for the information they gather is often fundamental to future military operations. Acting under codenames, their numbers are few and their identities are generally known only by the Commander-in-chief and other high-ranking member of the Insurgency's Intelligence Task Force. Infiltrating the enemy, their missions often revolve around information gathering, sabotage and occasionally assassination of prominent figures. Upon successfully completing their assignment, they may be promoted to the ranks of Operatives and Executives to lead missions on their own and act as handlers for other Intelligencers.
