History of the Jedi Order

CST7kB7m.png

For thousands of years the Jedi Order has existed. Founded by the Prime Jedi and born on the watery world of Ahch-To, the wisdom and knowledge of the Jedi was revered and respected throughout the galaxy, their reputation as philosophers, scholars, and sages widespread. Their accomplishments as warriors and peacekeepers equally respected by the peace loving denizens of the galaxy, and feared by those with more ill intent towards their fellow sentients. The Jedi Order was united in their devotion to the Force, and through the Force devoted to preserve peace and prosperity throughout the galaxy.

But not all agreed, feeling that their powers could be used for so much more. Delving deep into the mysteries of the Force, these malcontents discovered that when fueled by their negative emotions, and commanded, that the Force could be twisted to their will. Believing they had discovered the pathway to true power in the force, these Dark Jedi explored the deepest depths of the darkside, seeking to command power over life itself. Their commitment to the darkside was rewarded with unnatural power, which they sought to turn towards conquest.

Coexisting for years, uneasiness and tension increased between the Jedi of the Lightside, and the Jedi of the Darkside. The Dark Jedi had become arrogant, violent, and unpredictable. The Jedi became worried that these dissenters would be consumed by the power that they wielded. Likewise the Dark Jedi believed that the Jedi of the Light were weak and prone to indecision. The tensions grew until a conclave was called on Ahch-To, the wisest and most devoted Jedi Masters of the loosely organized order gathering in the first Jedi Council. It was there that the Jedi Council forbade the usage of the Darkside of the Force, excommunicating those that clung to its power.

Banishing the Dark Jedi, exiling them to the far Outer Rim, the newly structured Jedi Order let the Exiles pass from their mind, perceiving them to no longer be a threat to the Order or the known galaxy. Turning their attention to the infrastructure of the order, they began to construct temples, libraries, and training facilities on their holy worlds, most notably Tython, Ossus, and Jedha. The Jedi Order nearly doubled in size. During this time, rumors of chaos in the Outer Rim, far galactic South, found their way to the Jedi. Filled with uncertainty, all but a handful chose inaction, preferring to continue to maintain the peace in the Republic and more civilized worlds, deeming the worlds in the far outer rim too primitive or corrupt to make their efforts worth the risk.

The Great Jedi Civil War
(Later known as the 100 Year Darkness)

It was with horrified shock that the Jedi watched as an onslaught of abominations and Dark Jedi poured out of the Outer Rim, burning and enslaving as they came. Many Jedi, feeling guilt over their previous inaction, threw themselves into battle to save and protect those that they could. Thousands of Jedi died during the initial invasion, their unorganized efforts valiant but foolhardy and ultimately wasteful. Calling an emergency conclave, the only one since they had decided to cast out the Dark Jedi, the Jedi Council reorganized the Jedi Order once more, creating a militant arm known as the Jedi Guardians. This newly created army marched into battle alongside the freshly minted Grand Army of the Republic, beginning a slowly losing campaign that would see the two allies slowly pushed back to the temple on Tython itself.

WN15xZ8m.jpg
The Battle of Tython could be considered one of the bloodiest battles of the war. Fleets burned in the void around the planet and its two moons, while force storms raged wherever armies clashed on the surface, the planet own environment attempting to reject the invaders and defenders alike. In an elaborate scheme, the Grandmaster of the order, Nargha Atassi, a cunning warrior who had led many campaigns against the enemy and knew their way of battle, devised a plan to cripple the armies of the Exiles. In a valiant act of self sacrifice, the Grandmaster and an army of Jedi and Republic volunteers defended the temple from the ravenous hordes of abominations and fallen Jedi while the rest of the Jedi and Republic forces retreated. It can only be assumed that the defenders fought bravely, as nobody who was present at the battle survived. Once the Grandmaster had three of the Exile Warlords engaged in melee, he brought the temple down, crumbling the building. The subsequent toll of death triggered a cataclysmic force storm that wracked the surface of the planet, destroying much of the Exiles army of abominations.

With their enemy on the retreat, a joint campaign was launched between the Jedi and the Republic to drive the Exiles from the core, and eventually out of the Republic as well. The Exiles had nowhere to run to, no bases established in its scorched earth campaign. The Jedi’s campaign forced the Exiles slowly out of Republic space. The Exiles only left devastation and despair in their wake as they burned and slaved their way out of the Republic, rebuilding their armies of slaves as quickly as they were thrown into the meat grinder of a retreating war. The Jedi had the advantage however, the slave armies were nothing like the ones of the past. No more did stim fueled berserkers or force twisted abominations to fill the ranks of the Exile armies, only scared men caught between death on the field of battle or death by the hands of their new masters.

With the Exiles cast out of Republic space in full retreat, the Republic Senate, their worlds suffering, having throwing generation after generation into the war, voted to end the war, disbanding their armies to turn their focus on rebuilding from the damage caused by The Great Jedi Civil War, as some had begun to deem it. An anti-Jedi sentiment began to grow within the Republic, and even as the Jedi Guardians chased the Exiles into the Outer Rim, they would find themselves no longer welcome within the Republic.

The Tragedy at Ilum

With both of their armies defeated or disbanded, the scope of the war shifted from grand planet wide engagements to skirmishes and small battles that saw the Exiles continually pushed back. Their numbers seemed to thin considerably, the Jedi gaining a few easy victories before the word came. The Exiles had assembled and invaded the holy world of Ilum, a strike to the spiritual heart of the Order. The Jedi Guardians rushed to their sacred planets defense, and met the Exiles in what would be one of the bloodiest, and likely the last major clash of the waning years of the war. Under the eerie crimson glow of a massive, bleeding kyber crystal, the two armies met. Leading a strike force through the enemy lines, Grandmaster Syresh Lapar and a group of some of the best warriors the Jedi Guardians pushed their way to the crystal, where they found a ritual being performed upon the crystal by the last Warlord of the Exiles. After a bloody clash between some of the most powerful force wielders on both sides of the war, Grandmaster Syresh Lapar cut down Overlord Melchior, ending the conflict. But then the unthinkable happened. In a sudden and ferocious act of betrayal, Syresh Lapar cut down the surviving Jedi strike team while they thought victory was at hand. With the crystal glowing with the darkside, Syresh Lapar unleashed the power trapped within, the destructive dark side energies bursting forth onto the battlefield and across the planet. The waves of death were indiscriminate and random, killing Jedi and Exiles in droves.

Aftermath

After what would seem as an eternity to the survivors, the power of the crystal subsided, its energies spent. Both armies had been decimated, and the few survivors of both sides wasted no time in fleeing the battlefield. The battle crippled the Jedi Guardians, the Order splintering in the aftermath of such defeat and betrayal. The surviving Jedi Guardians, following their General and councilor Cadef Sige, retreated to the holy world of Jedha, thought to be one of the first crystal worlds of the Jedi, to lick their wounds and recover their strength. Many Jedi felt this was not the path they were meant to walk however, leaving the Guardians to rebuild the worlds destroyed by the war and to recover the knowledge on the mysteries of the force that were lost during the decades of conflict. Many however, continued to take action; some pressing the attack in small skirmishes bloody ambushes; taking to the shadows and hunting their enemy down one by one, and others allies and lost knowledge with which to finish the war.

State of the Order

After nearly a hundred years of conflict, the Jedi Order can be considered an order no more. The broken Order has fragmented into different splinter sects, each following the same code and many of the same teachings, but with different core goals that set them adrift from eachother. The Jedi Order, once numbering in the tens of thousands has found itself absolutely depleted, many scholars estimating its numbers to hover near a thousand souls, dis-united even as a shadow war is waged between them and their eternal enemy, hovering on the edge of extinction.

The Jedi, wracked by a century of war are a shadow of their former glory. With their numbers reduced to a roughly a thousand, they are fractured in their beliefs, methodologies and teachings. Scattered throughout the galaxy, the Sects of the Jedi continue their efforts to destroy heir dark brethren, rebuild the Jedi, and protect the galaxy. With each Jedi following their own path, they have gathered in groups of likeminded individuals, forming Sects that differ greatly in what they perceive course of action for the Jedi.

Jedi Guardians

S2RGaUqt.jpg
The survivors of the war and the Tragedy at Ilum, these Jedi Guardians follow Jedi Councilor Cadef Sige, who has withdrawn the remaining Guardians to Jedha. These Jedi, once steadfast guardians of the galaxy, now hide behind thick walls and shields, intent on shutting themselves away from the galaxy while they ascertain a new course of action. Considered to be some of the best lightsaber duelists in the galaxy, the Jedi Guardians have been hardened by war and even in hiding train ceaselessly, preparing for another invasion that they feel is inevitable, determined to weather the storm and survive. While they once believed the best way to protect the galaxy was to relentlessly hunt down their dark brothers, the Tragedy at Ilum broke their will. Fundamentally changed, the Guardians now only seek to rebuild and protect what is left of the Jedi.

The Jedi Guardians beliefs have been shaped by war, betrayal, and defeat. Having lost their zeal to continue the fight, the Guadians, and with them their beliefs, have shifted towards the defensive. Now believing that a Jedi should only use the force to protect life, not as a weapon, many of them wish to return to the field and protect the citizens of the galaxy from the lingering Exile threat. But the survival of the Jedi has taken precedence over the protection of others, for without the Jedi, there would be no guardians of the light side.

Jedi Crusaders

Remnants of the Jedi Guardians, survivors of the Tragedy at Ilum, and freshly blooded knights who reject the belief that the Jedi will perish if they continue the war, these Jedi Crusaders continue to fight their sworn enemies. Traveling in groups of warriors, they seek out their enemy and engage them on the field of battle wherever they can be found. They are not hesitant to slaughter the lone exile either, nearly always traveling in gangs, they often goad and toy with any individual dark Jedi they happen upon before putting them down for good. These practices have earned them a reputation as cold but effective brutes among the other sects of the Jedi.

The Jedi Crusaders wholeheartedly believe that the purpose of the Jedi is to destroy the exiles that have stained their order, to the last man. The sacrifices necessary to accomplish that goal are never too large and the survival of the Jedi themselves are secondary to this, believing that the Jedi and the lightside will surely triumph. Many are not even above the sacrifice of others, actively attempting to recruit others to their cause in an attempt to reform the armies of old. However, whipping up a crusader zeal is difficult in a war weary galaxy, and few have joined them thus far.

Jedi Sentinels

CXQgpzYm.jpg
The Jedi Sentinels are protectors, humanitarians, and most importantly, servants of the light side of the Force. These Sentinels split from the Jedi Guardians after the Tragedy at Ilum, unwilling to abandon the people of the galaxy to cower behind walls. Refusing to leave the denizens of the galaxy unprotected, these Sentinels dwell among the people, sharing their lives, working the fields on agriworlds or walking the streets of sprawling urban planets, ever watchful for their exiled foes as they protect and nurture the populations among which they live.

The beliefs of the Jedi Sentinels are ones of duty, versatility, and passivity. The sentinels believe that it is the duty of the Jedi to protect the people, first and foremost. Knowledge and skill are greatly respected among them, and the acquirement of these are highly encouraged. In order to protect their friends and neighbors, many hide what they are, with only a few among the communities that they live in and travel among knowing the truth of their nature. Rarely do they display their lightsaber or wear clothes that identify them as Jedi, instead preferring to wear local clothing and the garb of whatever trade they may be working, whether that be of a farmer, factory worker, mechanic, business man, or whatever other profession they might take up as a cover.

Jedi Shadows

When the armies of the Jedi and the Exiles were broken, the Jedi Shadows were not finished with the war. As their enemies scattered, so too did these Jedi, relentlessly hunting the Exiles as they fled into the shadows of the galaxy. Whatever their methods, they are almost always guaranteed to be swift and ruthless. They hunt their exiled brethren down with cold efficiency, believing few tactics to be too dirty or underhanded in their efforts to win the war. As the exiles seek allies, the Jedi Shadows are becoming more inclined to target those that would aid their enemy as well.

The Jedi Shadows are brutal hunters of those who utilize the darkside, believing that as servants of the light they need to utterly eliminate the usage of the darkside. Coming together as a means of combating the Exile’s assassins, individual Shadows methods may vary greatly, some taking to the shadows as silent killers and saboteurs, others blending seamlessly into the crowd, to pounce aggressively on their target when an opportunity presents itself. Of all the more extreme sects of the Jedi, the Shadows walk the closes to the darkside, often blurring the line in their minds to help justify more extreme actions.

Jedi Consulars

Knowledge seekers, diplomats, sages and healers, the Jedi Consulars seek to rebuild the galaxy, that they feel the Jedi are responsible for destroying, from their base within the Great Jedi Library on Ossus. While much of the destruction and displacement was caused by their exiled brothers, the fault still lays upon the shoulders of the Jedi in their minds. Bearing that guilt and feeling of responsibility, they work to restore the galaxy to its former glory. Mediating peace, restoring communities, and pushing the galaxy to unite once again, the Jedi Consulars believe their reparative efforts will help restore the balance in the Force and in the galaxy, and in doing so rebuild the Jedi.

Seeking to restore the knowledge of the Jedi, so much having been lost during the nearly century long period of war, the Consulars search for and maintain the teachings of the Jedi. When not brokering peace, negotiating trade deals, advising leaders and other tasks that further their goals, many can be found delving into ancient temples and holy places of the Jedi that have been lost to time or to the war, recovering holocrons and manuscripts to study in order to reconstruct their knowledge of the Force. By far the most advanced sect in the study of the force, these Jedi’s mastery of the force exceeds those of their more martial minded brothers and sisters, though often at a sacrifice of their own martial abilities.

Jedi Emissaries

While the Consulars attempt to re-unite the galaxy, some of the more political and intellectual minds of the Jedi still have their mind set on the war. Theses self proclaimed Emissaries of the Jedi rub elbows with military officers, politicians, and businessmen as they seek allies against their exiled brethren. Attempting to turn the powers that be in the galaxy against the exiled Jedi, the Emissaries seek nothing short of their total annihilation. Servants of the light who believe that the users of the darkside must be destroyed, and aren’t above having others fight their battles for them.

While the Consulars seek to rebuild the knowledge of the Jedi, the Emissaries delve in search of one thing, weapons. Investigating lost temples, force cults, and other mysteries of the Force, some Emissaries are not even above researching the darkside to further learn how to better defeat their enemy. Some even hunt the knowledge of the techniques used to make the weapon that caused the Tragedy at Ilum, wishing to reverse engineer them and develop their own that weaponizes the light side of the force against the dark. Many shun this idea however, seeing it as a slippery slope that brings them too close to the practices of their enemies.

The Jedi Code

There are two versions of the Jedi Code, both of which are equally valid guidelines for Jedi Knights to operate with. Indeed, many scholars argue that this dual code exists in order to prevent any misinterpretation of any singular code:

Emotion, yet peace. / There is no emotion, there is peace.
Ignorance, yet knowledge. / There is no ignorance, there is knowledge.
Passion, yet serenity. / There is no passion, there is serenity.
Chaos, yet harmony. / There is no chaos, there is harmony.
Death, yet the force. / There is no death; there is the Force.

Emotion, yet peace.
Happiness, love, anger, resentment, fear, and excitement; these are all examples of emotion. No emotion is inherently bad or wrong in any way, and we recognize this, but as a Jedi you must learn to control your emotions. Your emotions can cloud your judgement and potentially cause you to make hasty decisions without properly thinking them through. You must transcend your emotions and come to a place of inner peace. To have emotions is not a sign of weakness. In letting your emotions control you, therein lies the failing.

Ignorance, yet knowledge.
Everyone has a capacity for ignorance in some form or another. It is the duty of a Jedi Knight to continue to educate oneself and each other. This process is never-ending, as no one has attained all the knowledge of the universe except those who are one with the Force. Remain vigilant and know that you are not all-knowing. There is still much to learn. The path of the Jedi is a path of learning.

Passion, yet serenity.
Passions are fed by emotions, and they can cloud your judgement in the present circumstance. Passion can range from devotion to a much more sinister notion of being governed by emotion. Always act with an even temper and act according to the will of the Force. Always question yourself when overwhelmed with passion, as you risk submitting to the pull of the dark side. A calm mind is a mind guided by the light.

Chaos, yet harmony.
It is undeniable that sometimes things just go awry, or at least appear to. And while this is true, a Jedi Knight understands that all events are interconnected and are simply part of life. Tragedies and failings are inevitable. It is how we deal with them that matters, and, as a Jedi, you should take such things in stride. Learn to rise above the chaos and understand the role you play in bringing balance to the Force. Understand that the Force is with you, always.

Death, yet the Force.
Death is a natural part of life. Jedi can be killed, and often are in times of war. However, death is not a tragedy, but a necessary part of the life cycle. Without death, life could not exist. They balance each other out. When we die, we are just passing into another realm of existence. We become one with the Force.

The Nine Tenets

The Jedi Order is guided by two basic doctrines: the Jedi Code, and the Nine Tenets. While the Jedi Code is steadfast and timeless, the Jedi Order recognizes the need to create the tenets after expelling the dark Jedi from their Order. The Tenets were set down during the first conclave of the Jedi Council on Ahch-To, and modified during the second conclave with the formation of the Jedi Guardians, in order to discourage actions that might lead Jedi down the path to the darkside. Many now consider the tenets to be outdated however, having been set down almost a hundred years ago, with the different Sects of the Jedi interpreting them differently to further their own goals

Jedi are the guardians of peace, justice, and order in the galaxy. We fight for all life, no matter how intelligent or how unintelligent, no matter how big or how small, no matter how significant or insignificant on a galactic scale. We defend civilization, as well as the freedoms and liberties of all people. The galaxy’s safety is the priority of the Jedi, and we will ally with those that align with our efforts to restore peace.

Emotions are unavoidable, but lessons may be learned from the feeling of these emotions. However, emotions of such strength as to cause a Jedi to act or behave in a manner different from rational thought are dangerous, and must be avoided at all costs for a Jedi to truly master the Force.

rxfJfe2t.png
Feelings of attraction and love are not to be explored. Jedi are known to observe a strict code of ethics that forbids the formation of material attachments and individual bonds. Violating these doctrines can be grounds for being exiled from the Order. A Jedi must not explore the realm of marriage, for love is dangerous. Attachment leads to the dark side, and to commit to the way of the Jedi means giving up personal desires and living for the benefit of all life.

The Jedi are to respect life, in any form, and only take life when necessary. Taking the life of an individual who has embraced the darkside can be considered necessary, for if left alive a darksider is a potential threat to all. A Jedi must put the needs of the community over the needs of individuals. A Jedi is not to act for solely personal gain or greed - the good of all must be the goal of a Jedi.

A Jedi is to protect the weak and defenseless. A Jedi may not kill a defenseless individual. An individual who has embraced the dark side of the force is never to be considered defenseless, for the darkside is a weapon in its own right. Should a Jedi be in a position where aid may be given to the weak or the poor, then the Jedi should do what they can to aid the situation within the guidelines of the Code, the Tenets, and the law.

The Jedi Council exists as the leading party of the Jedi Order, a committee to decide the direction and law of the Jedi Order. Jedi may disagree with the Jedi Council but they must never openly oppose it, for we have seen the dangers in open opposition. Jedi are free, however, to make personal decisions on their own, so long as they do not conflict with the standing Jedi policy.

Ruling power and financial wealth are not permitted for a Jedi, as these lead to arrogance and self-pride. Self-pride is a complex that eats the heart and mind of all, including Jedi. If a Jedi thinks he or she is greater than other beings, equal to other beings, or less than other beings then they have succumbed to self-pride. Guard against these three complexes night and day.

A Jedi must consider the living and cosmic manifestations of the Force - one must be mindful of the present, but also look to both the future and the past for guidance.

A Jedi does not fight for adventure or glory. A Jedi fights for the survival of civilization and the survival of the people within it. The greatest Jedi is not the one who defeats an army of thousands, but the one who triumphs over himself. Your importance lies in your devotion to life.

Jedi Knight

The ubiquitous title of a full fledged member of the Jedi, fully trained in the ways of the force and in the art of lightsaber combat. Their talents and skills vary greatly, with the sects of the Jedi valuing different skills and abilities, as well as individual talents and preferences. Whatever their training, they are highly competent in their field of study.

9fZ4BF5t.png
Nearly a hundred years of the Jedi Civil War has tempered the edge of the remaining Jedi, hardening them against the suffering of the galaxy. Their goals and motivations informing their philosophies, many like-minded Jedi had come together to form philosophical and ideological sects. With disagreements abound, the Jedi are a fractured order, if one could even call them that. This fracturing, as well as a hundred years of Jedi fighting Jedi in a galaxy spanning civil war, have caused the people to become wary of the Jedi, seeing them as untrustworthy and dangerous often finding it difficult to distinguish between the Jedi and their exiled brothers.

With their numbers dwindling and their goals and motives different, Jedi Knights are forced to forge their own paths as they attempt to their idea of peace and order to the galaxy. Guardians, Crusaders, Sentinels, Shadows, Consulars or Emissaries, these sects attempt in their own ways to deal with the fallout of the war; preserving the Jedi in temple fortresses, crusading against their exiled brethren with a fiery zeal, protecting people and communities in the galaxy, walking the edge of the dark side to take the fight to the exiled from the shadows, mend the wounds of the war and rebuild bridges long burnt, or push the people of the galaxy to once more take the fight to the exiled Jedi.

Jedi Master

Masters of the Jedi, these scholars, warriors and sages are some of the best of the Jedi, their abilities excelling that of ordinary Jedi, whether through natural talent or decades of training. Most importantly though is a Jedi Masters wisdom, often regarded as the wisest and most in tune with the force.

The Jedi’s knowledge severely weakened by the war, the near destruction of the Jedi, and schisms within the remaining Jedi as they disagreed on what course the Order should take. Just as prone to the disagreement and bickering that has consumed the Jedi, the Jedi Masters are just as disunited. As leaders, teachers, and commanders within their respective sects, the Jedi Master’s wisdom and influence help guide the paths of their orders. While the Jedi Council remains fractured and in disagreement, there are few within the sects that have more authority than the Jedi Masters, who answer only to the Jedi Council members, and even then often disregarding the orders of Council members who do not have the same ideological viewpoints as them.

Within their sects, these Jedi Masters may hold specific titles suggesting their specialized talents within the force. A common specialization would be that of Blademaster or Battlemaster, two different specialties that are equally martial in nature. Of the Jedi more inclined to hunt down their exiled brethren, Watchmaster or Shadowmaster are titles not unheard of, referring to their ability to go undetected by all but the most attuned and observant, or the quickness and ferocity with which they slay their targets. Sage or Ambassador are more common among sects more concerned with preserving knowledge or political outreach.

Jedi Councilor

An Order once united, the Jedi once were presided over by twelve Jedi masters of prodigious power and wisdom. This gathering was called the Jedi Council, leading the order in times of light and of darkness. Selected for their power within the force and their wisdom, the Council were accepted as the best the Jedi had to offer, and were respected by all.

ps5TgsMm.png
The Order is not what it once was however, and the Jedi Council is fractured and divided, the surviving Council members having vastly different ideas for the path the Jedi were to follow. Leading their own orders, philosophical sects that walk apart, the Jedi follow the members of the council, even respecting the councilors who don't hold their own philosophies, but not always listening to them. The members of the Jedi Council are considered equals, though the current state of the Jedi causes their authority to not always be accepted. While the council once stood twelve strong, the recent events of the war and the Tragedy of Ilum have reduced their numbers. With the remaining members in disagreement, the Jedi Council has not selected members to replace those that have fallen. Instead the surviving Jedi Council members have chosen to lead their own orders, believing their path to be the best chance for the survival of the Jedi, or the elimination of the Exiles.

Members of the Jedi Council are not chosen lightly, and are selected for their skill, knowledge, power and wisdom, which often far exceeds that of their fellow Jedi Masters. Even before being chosen for the Council, prospective Jedi Councilors are often among the most respected and influential of the Jedi Masters.

Jedi Grandmaster

The Jedi Grandmaster is chosen by the Jedi Council from among themselves to be the Master of the Order. Leading the Jedi Council, and the Jedi themselves, the Grandmaster is considered to be the wisest and most powerful Jedi within the entirety of the order, voted as leader because of their mastery of and wisdom in the light side of the force.

The post of Grandmaster currently sits empty, with the members of the Jedi Council either dead or scattered throughout the galaxy. After the betrayal on Ilum by the last Grandmaster, the remaining Council members are no doubt wary of electing a new first among equals.

A Note on Padawans

Jedi Knight is the base rank for the Jedi, as the Jedi Order abolished the rank of Padawan during the Third Conclave of the Jedi Council after the Battle of Tython, in desperation to bolster the ranks of the Guardians. Players are allowed and encouraged to start their Jedi as fully trained Jedi Knights, though they may opt to write a less experienced/trained Jedi Knight if they so choose. Typical Jedi training varies based on the circumstances regarding the discovery of an individuals force sensitivity. Those discovered as younglings would likely have gone through a more standardized training period regarding the force and lightsaber combat, growing up as a part of the Jedi Order hidden away at sanctuary training academies. Many of these academies locations have been lost, though they still diligently train what pupils they have in hiding, wary of broadcasting their location out of fear of invasion. These young Jedi are usually knighted around the ages of 14-16, though some outliers may occur.

Those Jedi who are discovered at older ages will be given an accelerated training period, usually lasting no more than two years as they are prepared for the rigors of combat and the challenges of being a Jedi. The accelerated training is rigorous and rather thorough, covering as much material as possible in such a short period of time. Areas of study are lightsaber combat, hand-to-hand combat, force use, and Jedi philosophy. Many Jedi who are given accelerated training may also be trained in a variety of other practical skills depending on the skills of their teachers. Many feel this training period to be lacking, believing that those who are taken on at too old of an age have greater risk of falling in battle or being seduced by the darkside. Due to these concerns a freshly knighted Jedi may be assigned a fellow Jedi Knight or sometimes even a Jedi Master to continue their training on a case by case basis. Many Jedi Knights also choose to serve as mentors for their fellow Jedi Knights to supplement their accelerated training, oftentimes forming a lasting bond of friendship as they encounter hardships and overcome challenges together.
