Jedi Hopeful Octavian Black made his way to the Great Temple of Ossus. He knew his father wanted him to join the military, but Octavian wanted to be something bigger. He wanted to become a Jedi Master one day. To help keep balance to the Galaxy. But for any of that to become reality Octavian needed to be trained in the ways of the Jedi. He didn't know what the outcome would be once he entered the Great Temple of Ossus. Only that he could hopefully find a Master that would be willing to take his time to teach this Jedi Hopeful. Octavian was at the front of the Temple before stopping.

"Well here it goes."

Octavian said to himself as he entered the Temple. When he entered he saw the mass congregation of people. He then looked around. Hoping to spot a Jedi Master. Or hoping one would spot him.

Rev Nadill, the Jedi Knight and Guardian of the Jedi Order spotted the strange new face that had entered. It wasn't too often a new face showed up on the planet, let alone in the temple unless they were a hopeful or with the Republic. Reaching out through the Force the Jedi Knight could sense a spark in the man. He seemed a little old by the looks of things, but it wouldn't be the first adult they would take on, and he was sure it wouldn't be their last.

His cloaked figure walked towards the man. The pace slow and matching each previous step. His black robes hugging his form and the loose brown cloak swaying behind his cowled figure. Staring at the man he spoke out to him.

"Greetings on behalf of the Jedi Order, I am Rev Nadill, and I assure you, you are welcome here. Though I must request an answer as to why you are here... I sense something about you, you are a Force sensitive. Though we do not have any hopefuls landing in today, it would seem you are here by your own choice."

Pulling the brown cowl down from his head Rev's blue eyes stared at the stranger. He had a look of good, near priest like, his energy and life force seemed to radiate in all that was positive in the universe. This man was a true Jedi, a true protector of peace and all that was and is good in the galaxy.

"It's a pleasure to meet you Rev Nadill. I am Octavian Black. And yes. I have came here on my own free will. I wish to serve as a Jedi. To help protect and keep balance to this vast Galaxy of ours. The only thing stopping me however is I am need of a Master. Would you be willing to take me on as your Apprentice, Rev?"

Octavian asked. He was hoping Rev would say yes. If Octavian could become an Apprentice he would be on his way to achieve his dream of be coming a Jedi Master. He knew this was not a easy task by any means. He would have to sacrifice a great deal. But it was worth it.

He also fitted the role. He loved helping people and keeping peace in the world. That's what Jedi's are mainly used for. The "Negotiators" if you would call them. They were also well renowned Hero's. If you were a Jedi, your name would be remembered forever. You just wouldn't be another species to live in the Galaxy and die a nobody. Octavian wants to stand for everything good in this Galaxy.

Scratching his chin the Jedi Knight thought about this. There was little known about this man, he could be Alsakan for all he knew. Though reaching out through the Force his heart seemed in the right place, after a background check all should be in order he thought. Reaching into his cloaks pocket he hit a series of buttons on his datapad and simply waited.

"I would be happy to take you on Octavian... though let me tell you, this will not be an easy task. Most hopefuls start at a young age, do you know anything of the Jedi Order and the Force?"

Motioning for the man to follow Rev flashed him a friendly and inviting grin. They were walking down a wide hallway, sounds could be heard on either end of various natures. Ranging from the subtle sound of a lightsaber to screams as a duel went on. It was a lot to take in at first glance, even for the Jedi Knight at times. Opening one of the doorways he motioned for the man to enter and a subtle beep erupted from his pocket. Reaching in he looked at the datapad and the intel that came out about the man he was walking with. Everything checked out, he was suitable to be trained, now it was on Octavian to get through the training...

"I'm ashamed to say my knowledge of the Jedi Order is very minimal. However, the Force is something I am not new to. I find myself moving objects with my mind if I concentrate enough. When I mediate, I feel connected to some invisible object. The Force no doubt in my mind is reaching out to me. I just hope my age is nothing that slows me down."

Octavian replied as he followed Rev down a wide hallway. The sounds Octavian heard were sounds of pain. Mostly. It seemed training for some were painful than others. But this is expected. Octavian knew he would endure pain in his Jedi training. He accepted that long ago. Octavian then followed Rev though a set of doorways.

"Where are we going Master?"

Octavian asked. He liked to be informed on situations. He didn't like to be led into something without knowing. He wanted to be prepared for the danger if the situation in the future called for it. But he knew here there would be no danger. Or so he hoped.

Walking into one of the many training rooms in front of Octavian he spun in a circles his arms out as if showing off the room. This is where he was taking him, to a training room much like the others.

"We are here... it is a simple training room, no different than any of the others that we've been passing. Some had more advanced students in them, others were mere Padawans training in the basics, much like you will be. They felt no pain, I could sense this feeling in you Octavian... They merely control their emotion to enhance their strengths, once you lose control of yourself and your emotions, you will fail..."

Taking in a breath Rev thought about where to begin with this man. He had some knowledge of the Force which was better than some. That would be the best to begin with. Reaching into his pocket he pulled out four blocks, each larger than the last. Dropping the small objects onto the floor he motioned to Octavian.

"Lift each block, one at a time, start with the smallest, it will be the easiest for you that way. You must focus on the small block and see it rising, see it moving, by focusing your energy on it, it will do your bidding."

Crossing his arms he waited patiently.

"You may begin.."

Octavian looked at Rev. Then he looked at the four blocks. He knew what he had to do. This wouldn't be anything knew to him because he would practice this at home in his spare time. Picking up objects and setting them down. Octavian stood there. Focusing on the four blocks. He concentrated on the smallest block.

It felt like the world stopped to Octavian. As if nothing was moving but him and the block. The block began to shake a bit. Once Octavian let go of everything the block lifted slowly in the air. He didn't want to get excited because he would lose concentration. Once he got the block up to a decent height he easily set it down.

Octavian then went to the next block. He did the same for the first block. Nothing was different. Even though the block looked heavier, the Force made it the same. Octavian thought this would be a trick set by Rev. To see if he would question the ability of being able to pick up a bigger block. He picked this block up with ease and sat it back down.

He repeated the same steps for the remaining two blocks. This was a easy first task. However Octavian knew the tasks would get harder and harder. To test his physical and mental toughness. His physical toughness is definitely there. He just needs to strengthen his mind if he wants to become a good Jedi.

Rev nodded slowly the man was capable of becoming a Jedi, he was an adept in the Force. Walking around him a few times he pointed at the blocks and looked at Octavian. He practiced individual lifts it seemed, but had he ever tried lifting multiple objects.

"Now, try to lift all four, if you cant try three, and if you cant do that attempt two. Once in the air I would like you to hold them there for as long as you can. If you can hold it we'll further your training in this aspect. You must focus on each block as its own individual. It can be a hard task if you've never attempted it. Though what you just showed me, it seems you can do this... you may begin."

"Yes Master."

Octavian replied as he didn't break his connection with the Force. He began to concentrate on the blocks as a whole. He stared at each block one by one. Once he felt the connect with each individual block he began to try and raise the blocks as a whole. The four blocks began to shake. Octavian could sense he was making progress.

He'd never attempted to try and lift multiple objects so he wanted to do his best. The blocks began to hover about a inch or so off the ground. Octavian concentrated even harder. He began to raise his head. As he raised his head the blocks began to raise slowly. Octavian couldn't believe he was doing it. The blocks were level with Octavian's eyes.

He lost the connection in the Force for a sudden second as the blocks began to fall but Octavian stopped them from falling all the way. Octavian wanted to find out what had happened. He didn't know if Rev tried to distract him, an outside force, or something from the inside of Octavian made him lose connection. Once he got the blocks up to eye level again he held the blocks there for as long as he could.

His new padawan was doing quite well for his first attempts at such "impossible" feats. Stopping in front of him he could see that the blocks were eye level with Octavian, it was quite impressive. He could act as an outside force to distract him, but this was to build his strength in the Force. His abilities with the tool of the Jedi, he would become strong in it, or he would fail.

"No Octavian, keep your focus on the blocks, and focus on yourself... slowly allow yourself to rise. This will be the hardest feat for you to manipulate with the Force. You must be connected with yourself, all while focusing on yourself and with the blocks outside your own form. Try your best!"

"I'll try my best Master."

Octavian couldn't believe what he had to do. He just accomplished a feat he never tried and never thought he could do. Now he was asked to do what some people thought would be impossible. Not only did he have to keep the blocks up, but he had to life himself up. Boy was this going to be fun.

Octavian calmed himself. He was starting to get anxious. He then closed his eyes. He dug deep inside himself. He slowed his heart beat down. It felt like he was starting to slow the word down. He wanted this. He wanted everything to slow down to make everything work.

Once Octavian thought he was ready, he released everything. He has his eyes closed so he couldn't tell if he started to float. He couldn't even feel himself leave the ground. He was only focusing on two things. The blocks. And himself. Octavian just stood there. He thought he was getting know where with this. He went to open his eyes to talk to Rev but then noticed he was doing the impossible. Octavian was making not only the blocks float, but he was making himself float too. He was at the same height as Rev was. So he wasn't that high from the ground. This was still a feat Octavian never thought he would accomplish.

Octavian then closed his eyes again and re focused. He wanted to keep himself and the blocks in the air as long as possible. This was testing his mental toughness for sure. And he needed to get strong in this aspect.

"Good! Good!"

Rev nodded, he was quite amazed by this feat. the man was quite powerful in the ways of the Force, even if he didn't know it. Watching him float in the center of the room never ceased to amaze the Jedi Knight, it was as if denying physics, gravity itself. Smiling he had an idea to help the man focus, going to his side he looked at the blocks. Would changing the environment drop Octavian from his position, or could he keep himself in check. Reaching out with his hand he slapped the blocks across the room, sending them tumbling into the corner in a heap. They had left the control of Octavian through the swat, but would Octavian be able to keep himself floating in the air with his other focus suddenly gone?

Octavian heard his Master call out in praise. While he was just levitating there Octavian felt his connection with the blocks cut off. He opened his eyes to see the blocks go flying across the room. No doubt Rev had did that to test Octavian's Force power even more. With the blocks out of the question Octavian concentrated more on himself than the blocks now. He just floated there. Head down. Looking as if he was dead.

While he was doing this the blocks began to shake. Octavian was starting to build the connection back with the blocks. He probably didn't have to do this but, Octavian wanted to see if he could. Today was the first for a lot of things. So why stop? Octavian then started to call out through the Force. Trying to use the objects around him to make him stronger in the Force. The blocks began to shake real bad then they shot back to where the were before Rev slapped them.

Once Octavian knew he had the blocks back where the were supposed to be he concentrated on making the bond even stronger. So this time if Rev thought about smacking the blocks away, it would take something more than an easy smack to dislodge the blocks. Octavian should of known this however. He felt like he should of been prepared for that. However, he wasn't going to keep himself down. He was going to keep his head up and continue to progress. His dreams of becoming a Jedi Master counted on it.

Scratching his chin at the attempts to get the blocks back impressed Rev more-so than he'd thought it would. He was surprised the man would call them back to him, the strain on his mind and body had to be getting edgy by now. Walking over to a datapad on the north face of the room he began hitting buttons. Various sounds would ring out through the speakers inside the room sounds of death, sounds of happiness, anger, and even hate. Every emotion was being broadcast through the room, a simple distraction that could hit a spot in his Padawan's mind.

"Tell me Octavian! Why you wish to become a Jedi? It is expect of you to help the Universe and it's people, though it is not often one simply doesn't join the Republic militia in order to help... What is your true reason for becoming a Jedi?"

As his statement came to a close he called upon the Force. A small whirlwind forming around the blocks and spinning with an unimaginable power. It in no way affected Octavian, though the blocks were another story. Sending each small piece of wood across the large room. The soft clicks of them hitting the wall then rolling across the floor could be head. The Jedi Knight was truly testing the physical and mental capicity of Octavian now...

When Rev turned on the noises it set Octavian's mind in a whirl. The sounds of pain and hate were starting to get to Octavian. He hated hearing people suffer. He wanted to do everything in his power to help them. Even if they were just sounds.

"Master, it is my only wish to help the Order of the Jedi and to keep balance to our Galaxy. I want nothing more but to help people Master. I feel its my destiny to help people. I only wish to become a Jedi to serve and protect. This is why I want to become a Jedi."

Octavian then felt the blocks get ripped from his grip. Rev must of used the Force to cause something more powerful than Octavian could withstand because the blocks when flying. Octavian was tested again at bringing the blocks back together. This time he did it without thinking. Like it had become second nature to him. He didn't have to concentrate as hard to get the blocks to move. Octavian could tell he was getting the hang of it.

His mind however was starting to strain. Thinking about himself, the blocks, the noises. Everything was making Octavian concentrate like none other. Octavian decided to put a end to the noises so he reached out to where the noises were coming from. Once he found the source, or what he thought was the source, he used the Force to switch it off. The noises seemed to sees. But who knew what Rev had stored in for him next.

Interesting

The man was beginning to make things a bit more difficult than Rev had anticipated. Both the sounds and blocks were where they should be, gone and in Octavian's presence. It was time for something he was sure the lesser trained man would not be able to break, he would have to fight against it in order to keep himself in tact. Reaching out through the Force Rev went into Octavian's mind, looking for past events and using them against his pupil. For every good idea an equally rotten picture would be pressed into the mans mind. He would have to fight them to stay afloat, or fall to the floor.

"Where is it you are from Octavian?"

Octavian could feel a presence starting to come upon him. He knew it was Rev. Trying to pry inside his mind. He was underestimating Octavian. His willpower is one of his best traits. However, how much could his mind take? It's been stressed since he walked into this room. Octavian didn't know how much he could take.

"Where I am from Master? I am from Coruscant. This is my home Master."

Octavian replied. Why would Rev ask the question when he could just peek inside Octavian's head and find out? Maybe he was trying to get Octavian to think something completely different. However Octavian was standing firm for the minute. He was concentrating on the blocks, himself, and protecting himself from Rev's intrusion. However, he knew he could not hold him for long. Maybe a second or two, but then Rev could have what he was looking for.

Rev's powers prodded at his padawan's mind. He was telling the truth, good he could trust the man. He wanted to further his connection before completely going into things with Octavian. They were still strangers to eachother in a sense. Speaking to him telepathically still he asked him another question.

"I'm sure you've heard of the different classes of Jedi, Consular, Guardian, and Sentinal... Do you know which would fit you best? Or Do I have to explain each class to you?"

Rev smiled to assure his padawan he meant well, he didn't want any hostility towards him, or towards himself.

"I have heard of the types Master. But, I have not really hear great detail about the types. If you could please tell me, I'm sure that will help me pick the best choice for me."

Octavian replied with a smile. Octavian wanted to be a Jedi that focused more on the Force and talking it over than spending all his time in lightsaber combat. Octavian wasn't that good at combat. He was always greater with his mind and his ability to speak. He was sure if there was a choice like this, he would most definitely pick it. It would suit him well.

Rev nodded it would not be the first time he'd explain the choices to an apprentice, and he knew it would not be his last. Speaking aloud now each choice would press into his padawan.

"First there is the Jedi Guardian, this class focus's on skills with the lightsaber, you could say combat is his or her speciality... They still rely on the Force, though they fall back to their blade when the situation calls for it."

Taking in a short breath he prepared to speak once more.

"Second there is the Consular, a Jedi that focuses on the Force itself. They would rely on diplomacy and talking in order to end a situation. Their primary tool would be the Force."

Taking in a final breath he spoke one final time.

"The third and final is a hybrid of sorts. The Sentinal focuses on both the Force and the lightsaber. They are a support class of sorts that help out their allies... which is it Octavian?"
