Khlan unclutched his near bleeding ears as the walls finally stopped screeching at the group.

"I THINK...!" Khlan shouted at first, still recovering his hearing. "THAT WE ARE GETTING CLOSER, YES?!?"

The next moment, the doors opened up. The trap/training room for Bomarr monks had run its course. Had the group been unable to deactivate the room as they did, they possibly would've ended up losing most of their senses. Khlan was just unfortunate enough to have gone deaf for a few moments longer than most people.

"OH GOOD!" Khlan continued to shout as he noticed the doors had opened. "HOW ABOUT SOMEONE ELSE GOES FIRST? I CAN'T HEAR SO GOOD AT THE MOMENT..."

The next room however, was the gateway to the vault room. In the large chamber, the group would find one immense door made of solid metal. Equipped with the finest sensors crime could purchase, the door was surrounded by several old-fashioned droidikas, repurposed to be forever attached to the floor like deadly turrets. Unable to leave their posts, these four droids were programmed to destroy all that approached without proper clearance. The door itself was designed after blast doors used in numerous starships, and unlike the room before, was not decorated at all save for the symbol of Jabba on its locking mechanisms.

“WHAT?” Kai shouted back at Khlan (@Narzen ). His ears were just as shot from all the alarms. His eyes were still watering and he heard a sharp ringing. The two would likely be shouting at one another with neither being able to hear.

They entered the next room and Kai looked at the others, “TURN THE DROIDEKAS ON ONE ANOTHER SO I CAN GET TO THE LOCKING MECHANISM!” He said much louder than he thought he was speaking. His obnoxious yelling alerted the droids and he realized there was no time.

“COME ON! START RUNNING AROUND!” He urged the others. If they listened, he would use the opening to try and rush towards the lock to start tinkering with it. He brought tools to unlock doors and traps, so this was going to be his focus. He just had to rely on the others to keep the droids off him.

Nefid wanted to scream. More droids, more dead metal and wires she was powerless to command. After the previous room, it felt like a taunt. Was this really the home of an order of monks devoted to the power of the mind?

But before they could elaborate a plan, the thief ran and the droidekas came alive. Their group split, hoping all four of them could attract a droid’s attention while Kodi unlocked the door, but Nefid doubted the sentries were stupid enough to focus on faraway targets while someone unauthorized was standing right by the control panel. For the second time, she deployed her crimson saber as she struggled to defend herself. The droidekas’ firepower was infamous. Nefid wondered how the others would fare, but if she took her attention off the droids for even a second she would be disintegrated by one of the blasts.

Besides, she’d sense it if one of them died.

Hold on! she exclaimed. One distinct advantage of telepathy was that she didn’t have to be heard over the high-pitched screech of the cannons. A few seconds!

From behind, the enlightened monk in his spider-legged droid made his way to the front. He had to be authorized, Nefid thought. Surely he could get the droids to stand down. Surely they only had to survive.

Another blast was barely deflected and exploded against the ceiling. How useless she was with a blade when she couldn’t read the opponent.

Maybe they would all die here.

Trodai reacted quickly, since he was near the front. He stepped to side, swerving and turning, hoping he did enough that the blaster bolts missed or hit elsewhere. He recalled what he had heard and read about the droids. They were vulnerable at the back, and so he needed to get behind to end the threat. Or as many as he could.

With a sword in one hand and using his other to make use of his blaster. Shooting several bolts towards the nearest droid, ducking behind whatever cover he could find but he knew it wouldn't do much, it was a distraction only. After firing he jumped towards the wall, using it to try and leap off and get behind it to slice where the droideka was weakest.

Droidekas were deadly, precise, and omnipotent in nearly every aspect. And yet, as Gemini took another wholesome drag from his vapor, he grinned. It's underworld life had presented ample opportunity to study and know most of the ancient and old battle droids. And these held a defining flaw. It just relied upon timing and adequate distraction.

Snaking around the others, Gemini awaited the moment their rear ends would be exposed, even if their shields had come alive, and when the opportunity presented its self, he lept upon the rear of one of the droideka like a Rancor Rider.

Spinning wasn't really his forte, nor was the quick and abrupt redirection the maniacal droid would take. But he would hold on for the Dearest of life as the Droid attempted to dismount him. Bringing his beloved ax into play, he attempted to drive the dense metal into the droid's servos, and disrupt the power supply.

The group's efforts were not in vain in handling the droidekas. As the two closest droids targeted Kai and began to open fire on him, blaster fire chasing him and barely missing his heels, the other two swiveled and faced the approaching monk, their armaments' pointed but not firing at the intruder. Rapid binary beeping was occurring rapidly from these two, and the monk was answering in his own weird way: a light was flashing on his robotic body in a rapid succession of seemingly random colors.

"Binary communication, via color theory!" Khlan exclaimed, his hearing finally returned as he watched the monk work. "How ingenious! I've heard ideas of such things but never seen them practiced!"

Khlan licked his teeth at the thought of the applications of such a use. Depending on the colors used, an entire language could be generated from droids that would take days to decipher depending on the number of shades of each color was used. The difference between daisy white, powder white, and porcelain white would be almost impossible to notice with the human eye, but so great that a wrong shade could spell life and death.

With Gemini's and Trodai's efforts at assisting Kai with the two droids not being handled by the monk, the security system was taken down. The droid that Gemini had landed on sprayed sparks in all directions as its power supply was completely disrupted, and Trodai's blade easily loged itself directly into several key wirings, causing it to go lifeless. The other two droids, having received a command to stand down by the enlightened monk, pulled their blasters up and simply stood motionless, observing the group.

"Excellent work, all of you!" Khlan clapped his hands. "And now we are in the home stretch! Fox-Ears, I think this is where your skills are needed. I'd hate to set off any other alarms within the treasure room myself. And if you need me or my droid to assist you, don't be afraid to ask"
