"Sorry. Can't." Laila rolled over on her bed and looked up at the pink chiffon canopy that drapped over her bed. She held her NalPhone in one hand, pressing it against her left ear while her right hand lazily twirled a strand of her hair around her index finger. "My older sister is coming to visit and tbh- " The girl drew out the pause in between her sentences while she tugged at her hair, trying to untangle her finger from it. "- I'd rather hang out with her than you. But we can totally hang some other time."

Click. "Ugh." Tiff was fun to go shopping with since she was really loose with her money, but talking to her on the phone? "What a bore." It's like she couldn't find anything to talk about that wasn't clothes. She wouldn't let anyone get her wrong, Laila loved shopping and talking about fashion, but she had other interests too.

"W'hooo!" Laila lifted her head and looked over at her pet convor, Minty, who was perched inside her cage. "You're right, you're right," she grumbled as she rolled over and off the bed. She caught herself right before she hit the ground, and jumped up onto her feet. "I gotta pick out something cute to wear!"

The girl wandered over, flung open the doors to her walk in closet, flicked on the lights and stepped inside. Would she go for a skirt? Maybe some cute shorts? Oh, and she had to pick a matching bag, for sure. "Ugh, I only have seven options though." She would have Amira take her to a mall so she could find a new purse. Laila was pretty sure a new Lior bag had just dropped and she wanted to get her hands on it before the other girls at school. "Or maybe something more expensive..." It's not like she couldn't afford it. Plus, she wanted something the others couldn't just go off and buy to copy her. It was so hard being so fashion forward.

In the end, Laila settled on a cute white tennis skirt paired with a slightly-oversized pink sweater with a collar popped over the neckline. She adorned her wrists with dainty gold bracelets, clipped her hair back with flowery barets, and slid her feet into a new pair of white sneakers. Since she wasn't sure what they'd be doing, she went with something that was slightly casual but cute enough to be semi-formal in case they went out for lunch. Laila grabbed her purse, dropped her phone inside, and hurried out front to meet her sister.

The day dawned crisp and clear on Eiattu. Sunshine streamed between each column the Tiefling strolled past. The sky was a brilliant shade of blue, with only a handful of cumulus clouds carried lazily on the wind from the west toward the east. Black stiletto heels clicked against the bluestone cobblestone of one of the palace's eastern colonnades, where freestanding pedestals with antique vases and bouquets of fresh flowers lined the pathway.

Amira wore a basic black turtleneck tucked into a pair of jeans, a houndstooth blazer, and a pair of sleek stilettos for contrast. Just enough to ward off the chill in the air. The Tiefling came to a stop once she reached the courtyard set in front of the palace steps, where Laila stood waiting in a short skirt and a pink sweater that looked like it was one to two sizes too large for her.

"Laila!" the Tiefling greeted her youngest sibling, tail flicking back and forth with joy. They hadn't seen one another since Altair's coronation. Amira hadn't seen any of her family since then for that matter. It was rare these days, for the entire family to be in one place. "How ya doing?' In spite of any protest the young girl might or might not have put up, Amira would wrap an arm around her, pulling her closer into an embrace that could almost rival one of their Aunt Gertrude's bear hugs that squeezed the life out of you. Unlike Aunt Gertrude's, it was brief, and Amira released her younger sister almost immediately. She gestured toward the palace. "Ma and Pa home?"

Home. The Tiefling stared up at the palace, with its mezzanines, spires, and parapet walls. 'Home' seemed like such a lackluster word for the castle that set before her, but to Laila, Ma, and Pa—that's what it was now. Home. It felt odd, picturing them anywhere other than the farm on Bandomeer, but she hoped that they would be happy here. "So," Amira smiled, resting one hand on her hip. "What do you want to do today?"

Now that she wasn't confined to Dantooine and recovering from her injuries, she could afford to take a day for herself. Before the war with the ISC consumed her free time. She'd set the entire day aside for Laila. @lizziie

"MIRA!" Laila hurried down the palace steps, skipping a couple down toward the end of the flight and practically barreling into Amira's arms. She was more than happy to wrap her own arms around her older sister in a big hug, but she was also fine with the brevity of it. The last thing she wanted was a wrinkled sweater! "I'm so good! This place is totally awesome!" The preteen's cute little country accent was almost completely gone, with the only remnants of her old twang playing peekaboo in the occasional diphthong vowel.

"Nah, they're out right now. Pa says to tell you 'hi' and Ma says to tell you that you better stay for dinner," she answered with a brief shake of her head. Since Laila saw her parents every day, she didn't even think of whether or not Amira would be disappointed to miss them. She just wanted to get a move on with their day together.

"Let's go to the mall!" Laila pulled out her NalPhone and practically shoved it in Amira's face, using her finger to scroll past several images of the same purse in a few different colors. "I wanna get this new purse before the other girls in my class do, that way they'll all feel like they're copying me if they get it too." And thus she could accuse them of copying her, which seemed fine and fair to the girl.

"Oh!" An idea sparkled in Laila's eyes. "If you get one too, we can be matching!" Matching with classmates? Ew, gross. Matching with her older sister? So cool!

Had it not been for Amira's tail, the tip of which stretched backward in search of a toe—or rather tailhold between cobblestone to support herself, she might have been bowled over by the younger Tiefling's bounding leap from the front steps of the palace. Laila's lively enthusiasm surprised her, but she would match its warmth, the corners of her lips parting into a smile that lasted much longer than the hug.

The King of Eiattu—also known as her not-so little brother—was not at home either, she'd been informed upon her arrival, but would possibly be returning "on the morrow." The palace was abuzz with anticipation, staff making all of the arrangements necessary for the king's return, the steward making sure that everything would be in order once he arrived. If he hadn't been off-world, she would have swung by the courtroom—or wherever kings spent their free time—to see him. With the recent Sith blockade of Corellia, she doubted he would have a lot of free time anymore. Neither would she, if this war with the ISC took a turn for the worst.

As a rule, Amira never carried a purse. It was too much extra weight and too much trouble to remember. For Laila, however, cherry red eyes sparkling like stars on a clear Bandomeer night, she would carry a purse. She would carry two purses, even, if it made the girl happy. Why shouldn't Laila be the trend setter at her school? Amira thought to herself. Why shouldn't the other girls be jealous of her? There was no doubt about it. Laila was the most spoiled Din there was.

"Then what are we waiting for?" A day at the mall was not Amira's idea of leisure, but she'd never tell Laila that. Today, after all, was about her. With the young girl in tow, the two sisters would pass through the eastern colonnade, through palace security, until they reached a T-85 Joben Speeder Bike parked outside the palace walls on the street.

Amber eyes swept over the bike with pride. "Beautiful, isn't she?" she asked Laila, not really expecting an answer as she ran an obsidian hand over the durasteel rupulsorcraft. Not as nice as Edin's black Razorfin, but Amira was still pleased. It was a classic. She'd work her way up to the Razorfin. One of these days when Edin would actually let her drive it. The Tiefling slid on and patted the seat behind her. "Hop on!" she grinned, adding as an afterthought, "Just don't tell Ma." @lizziie
