DESCRIPTION​

The Lost Blades of Kensei were once sought after by collectors and arms dealers after his passing at the Tragedy of Ilum. What made these weapons so valuable was that Kensei had melted down a small chuck of Songsteel when forging his weapon. But there was not enough of the rare ore to use for one blade so instead he made a set of eight blades and used Phrik and Cortosis iron to finish the product. As they can withstand the heat of a lightsaber in battle, they are formidable weapons to those wishing to take down a Force sensitive combatant.

Each blade was given a specific name and every sword a work of art. The careful carving and etchings into the hilt make them a wonder to behold and anyone who has a Kensei blade can sell it for high profit, should they so choose to part with it. It's said that the metal never tarnishes due to the forging process used so even after five millennium their steel blades still shine like diamonds. The edge itself is paper thin yet strong as the toughest armor. While vibroblades are common to these katanas, the artistic design to the blades makes them valuable and thus sold for a high price in black markets across the cosmos.

Of the original eight, only two are currently unknown:​

Muramasa- Kensei's favorite of the collection which he kept with him at all times. This saber was last seen on Ilum.
Cortana- Given to his daughter and kept in private, the Lighthawk family is known to possess this rare blade.
Kusanagi- In a vault on Coruscant kept hidden by the fallen Empress of the Imperial Republica.
Durandel- Unknown
Masamune- Bought at a weapon's gala by the CEO of the Black Corporation.
Joyeuse- In the property of Kae'Leigh Tameris
Goujian- In a museum on Alderaan under heavy guard.
Excaliber- In the care of an exiled Sith Lord.

LEGALITY​

While swords are not illegal in most systems, there are places which will restrict the use of carrying a blade, especially one as large as these katanas. These blades can also not be compacted in any way so if carrying in a secret case it must be large enough to house the blade and scabbard. There also runs the risk of someone recognizing the Lighthawk crest carved into the pommel. This can lead to bounty hunters and the like coming after someone in possession of the blade.

INTENT​

My intention is to offer a different type of melee weapon besides just a vibroknife. But with the restriction of eight blades, there are only so many to go around. So if someone does wish to find a blade, I ask that they message/tag me if one is claimed so that I might add it to the roster above.

ADVANCED TECH​

No. However, with only eight blades in existence and their locations lost over five centuries, it stands to reason they will be difficult to obtain. One thread is asked to find or acquire the blade. How they are found can vary, but the task should be slightly difficult as they won't turn up in just any marketplace. If it is in the hands of an NPC, they are likely not willing to part with it.

Well I could make Kensei not a Jedi. That's an easy fix. Could I just make them not-advanced tech then? If its so common? What would you recommend because I really want to use these blades in terms of a plot later down the road

If you're just looking for fancy vibroswords that dont have or confer any special abilities then yes, they could just be posted as generitech. Advanced Tech doesn't necessarily mean powerful either though- rarity can factor in, even for functionally mundane items. Eother way, I would still recommend a lore article if you want to lend then an air of importance on a galactic scale.

Changes:

• Made Kensei an Exile. I figured maybe he would have made blades.
• Rather than using the swords are powerful weapons, they are now sought after for their beauty and are thus valuable. I still wish to keep it an advanced tech, but only one thread so people can't just start off with one.
• I can still make a Lore article if you would like. Wanted to focus on this first.
• Also added more locations to the blades to give players ideas for searching for them if they wish. I can change it back to how it was if this is too much. I can also make the appropriate NPCs for said circumstances written.

Is there anything else you'd like me to change or any of the above points that still don't fit?
