LOST REMNANT MERCENARIES

ORIGINS

The Lost Remnant Mercenaries are unknown to much of the galaxy. The reason for this was due to the fact that the original founder, Markus Keyne, had decided to keep the band of mercenaries under the radar by having them do petty jobs. This would continue on for a decade until the man was stricken by an unknown and fatal illness, which soon killed him after two weeks of the infection.

However, prior to this, Markus had already prepared a will, of which would be given to his two sons, Jericho and Tykan. The will stated that Markus wished for Jericho, the eldest of the two of 27 years, to take up the mantle of Commander in his stead. Jericho, surprisingly declined Markus' wish as he did not feel that he was a leader, and instead passed the role of leadership to his younger brother Tykan, who gladly accepted it.

It was a smart move on his part, as the 20 year old Tykan, with the help of Jericho, led the Lost Remnants out of the shadows of obscurity and into the open.

PRESENT DAY

It has been six years since then, and the Remnants couldn't have been doing better. Having made their presence known through a number of tasks that other mercenaries wouldn't so much as glance at due to the sheer danger, they've made a name for themselves.

However, while they had gained some recognition through to completion of near-impossible tasks, they truly became known once they've managed to take and secure the 'Hellgate,' a prison ship of unknown origins; they renamed it to the 'Unrelenting Unity.'

The Unrelenting Unity, the place that the Remnants call Home.

The Unrelenting Unity is a former prison ship that was captured by the Lost Remnant Mercenaries during a mission to rescue an informant for one of their employers. This was one of the harder missions, as the Remnants had to get past the defenses of the well protected Hellgate (Unrelenting Unity), fight their way into the deeper prison wards, and get back out.

They succeeded in doing the first two tasks, but for reasons unknown, the Remnants, with Jericho and Tykan leading them, had taken the massive ship's control deck. A series of events followed and the Mercenaries took control of the rest of the ship by using its defenses against its owners.

The informant was brought back to his superior and the Remnants were paid extremely well, a large bonus for removing the Hellgate threat. Tykan, with the recommendation from his brother, decided to keep the ship and turn it into the Lost Remnant's mobile home and main base of operations.

Thus, the ship was renamed the Unrelenting Unity, repaired, and refurbished to make accommodations for the mercenaries more comfortable and secure.

The ship itself, being a Prison-Class, is approximately 700M in length with an abundance of turrets. However, many of them and the ship's hull were damaged in the assault to seize control of it, forcing the Remnants to disable many of the turrets until they could be used again; the hull itself was patched up to an extent, although it will not be as durable as it once was without proper repairs.

As for those who wished to join the Remnants, a number were rejected due to extensive criminal records; how they got their hands on those are unknown. There were two notable individuals amongst the masses however, and they went by the names of Selvaria Argentum and Khorne.

Selvaria was a young woman of just seventeen when she first contacted the Remnants and was accepted due to her intelligence and excellent physical condition. She was accepted and quickly rose through the ranks of the Remnants, eventually taking the place of the Nameless General within the next four years.

Khorne was the prison personnel who aided the Remnants get past several defenses inside of the Unity. His age is unknown and as to what species he is are topics among the Mercenaries time to time. The man is massive compared to everyone else within the organization. He prefers to remain on the Unity where he guards the more important portions of the former prison ship.

Now however, tensions between the Galactic Alliance and the Empire, as well as a number of other factions, were reaching their breaking points. It was only a matter of time before war shattered the peace that had settled upon the inhabitants of the galaxy.

THE BRANCHES

The Militia

nameless-uniform-no-7.jpg

Uniform of the Militia; Squads are distinguished by numbered patches
The Militia do not have a General or Commander that the other Branches have. Instead, the leaders of each Squad are those that watch over their subordinates, even though they still answer to Tykan and other officers of the Remnants. Otherwise, they do whatever they want, and accept whichever Contracts that are within their jurisdiction, as long as they do not break any of the Codes.

However, the Militia are viewed as inferior when compared to the others, and are especially looked down upon by most Marines; the Nameless do not, or can not, show emotion unless they are officers. Generally, this is true, although it may be due to the lack of quality equipment that they are given. On several occasions the Militia have displayed their usefulness, but none of which were enough to attract Tykan's attention.

Tykan, knowing that the quality of the equipment given to the Militia, created a system where, upon completing a Contract, the Squads participating would receive 25% of the spoils; these including things like weapons, armor, technology, supplies, and even vehicles or starships, should the Squad perform extremely well.

The members of this Branch are often anyone and anything, criminals, ex-mercenaries, or someone just seeking to make a fortune through the Mercenary life. They join the Militia in particular because they aren't able to pass the requirements to join the Marines. Thus, they are placed into one of the less-filled Squads in hopes of rising through the ranks, proving themselves capable of being a Remnant Mercenary instead of an underestimated individual.

Currently, there are five different Squads, with Squad Zero being the largest and the toughest. Squad Two also owns an Armored Vehicle they named Vuples, something they received from obtaining excellent results on a Contract Mission.

The Marines

tumblr_letd2m0Zcu1qg58hqo1_500.jpg
At the head of the Marines is Tykan Keyne, the young Commander of the Lost Remnant Mercenaries and direct Commander of the specialized group of Marines called the Saints.

The Marines make up the largest percentage of the Remnant's forces when compared to the others. They are able to take and deal great amounts of damage due to the armor and weapons provided with the help of several contractors. This Branch serves as the main force of engagement and are hired alongside Squads of Militia for most Contracts.

The Flame Hazes

20061128000611833.jpg
tumblr_ln92mypkzQ1qc2eojo1_500.jpg
The Flame Hazes specialize in the use of anything that involves fire and are especially deadly in close combat due to their dual flamethrowers on each arm, capable of sending torrents of ungodly heat at anyone unfortunate enough to be near them.

However, due to the need for them to engage enemies up close, they are incapable of combating those at long distances; to make up for this, the soldiers under the command of Jericho Keyne, eldest of the two brothers, have been equipped with sets of heavy armor capable of shrugging off most standard blaster fire. The extreme weight has forced them to hone their physical abilities, even with the aid of the suits' internal machinery.

The Nameless

Under the authority of Selvaria Argentum, the Nameless possess the most skilled and deadly of individuals when compared to the other Branches of the Lost Remnants. The soldiers of the Branch must, as a requirement, undergo surgery to gain cybernetic enhancements; this has allowed them to perform their designated objectives with an efficiency not otherwise present in standard humans.

Nameless: Gespenster Jäger

946_large.jpg
99cdda25e96e64f885d987574fa8a9c9.jpg

Data of the Gespenster Jäger is disclosed to all parties under the authority of Selvaria Argentum, General of the Nameless. To reveal information on the Gespenster Jäger, one must go to Selvaria herself; not even Tykan Keyne, Commander of the Lost Remnants, knows of them.

Simply, there is no information on this Sub-Branch other than it is under the guidance of Selvaria, if not directly controlled by her, more so than the main Branch of Nameless.

Suits

Remnant Cobra
5093074759_a4d9f27799.jpg
The Remnant 'Cobra' is a moderately armored and maneuverable suit, controlled by a pilot in the confines of its mechanical body. Usually, the suit is used as support, as it is capable of firing countless rounds from its twin mini-guns, with one equipped on each arm.

It also possesses a small to medium sized supply of rockets on its right 'shoulder,' of which are used against armored targets.

Remnant Peacekeeper
nstohlman-paragon-mech_thumb%5B1%5D.jpg
The 'Peacekeeper' is a slow, yet heavily armored Vital Power Suit armed with a large variety of weapons. Like the 'Cobra,' it is controlled by a pilot, who operates the suit from the safety of its center, protected by the heavy plated armor and moderate shielding.

Contracts / Missions
The Difference between Contracts and Missions is relatively simple; Contracts are mostly for personal gain, whereas Missions benefit the Lost Remnants in someway, whether it is improving Mess Hall quality (Hey, soldiers can't fight on empty stomachs you know!), obtaining ships, equipment, allies, and even other members of the Remnants.

If you wish to participate in any Contracts/Missions, be sure that your character fits the requirements and contact me via PM.

CONTRANCTS
Never a Night of Solace
Constantly harassed by a nearby bandit camp, the civilians of a remote town on Tatooine have contacted us in hopes that we would remove the disturbance and ease their minds. While they have no Credits to spare, they are willing to allow the Squads sent to take anything from the bandit camp, should they succeed in eliminating them.

Risk: Minor
Slots: Militia: Two Squads
Objective: Eliminate all bandits; 20-30 estimated
Reward: Anything retrieved from the camp; high value items must be approved by Squad Leaders should one wish to gain it, otherwise, it shall be placed in the Remnant Exchange aboard the Unrelenting Unity; chance of approval will likely depend on one's performance.

Foreboding Silence
An anonymous client has hired us to retrieve certain data files from an old starship drifting around the moon Telti. There is not much information to go off of, so proceed with caution, and do not underestimate anything or anyone you may find. Whatever you might find on the ship may be of use to us, but the Client is willing to pay a large amount of Credits to those who submit the files to him.

I will leave you to decide what to do with those files should you manage to retrieve them.
- Tykan Keyne

Risk: Minor - Moderate
Slots: Militia: One Squad
Objective: Escape the derelict starship alive, with the data files.
Reward: 2500C OR [FACTION] Droid Schematics; [FACTION] Starship Scrap

Hunting the Hunter
Someone who has served as one of our suppliers has been killed. His daughter, a young woman who is just as loyal, if not more so, to the Remnants has hired us to find and kill the Bounty Hunter that was sent to kill her father. The Bounty Hunter, an individual who prefers to eliminate his or her target in the cover of night and in complete silence, is skilled in the art of assassination.

Our client has asked use to eliminate the Bounty Hunter, and is prepared to give a bonus should he or she be removed through the same means the victims go through; in silence.

Take note that several Nameless will also be deployed to oversee this contract, your performance and, should it come to it, deal with the Bounty Hunter themselves.

Risk: Moderate
Slots: Militia: One Squad - Nameless: 5
Objective: Eliminate Bounty Hunter
[Secondary] Eliminate Bounty Hunter in silence, without him or her taking notice until it is too late.
Reward: 2000C + 1000C [Secondary Obj.]

MISSIONS
[MAIN - PT1] Search for the Fragments...

Recently, a Squad of Militia and a number of marines have ceased all forms of communications with the Unity. As they are some of the most loyal amongst the organization, it is imperative that they are found. However, we must retrieve any information that may lead us to their specific location; transport will be given to you and your squad to the planet of Hoth, where the ship they've used has activated its distress beacon.

Board the ship, retrieve any intel, and find its crew.

Risk: Minor
Objective: Board the lost transport and search for anything that may reveal the whereabouts of its crew.

[MAIN - PT2] Piece them Together...

Seizing the Primo Victoria

649851bk4.jpg
The Primo Victoria, a rather magnificent ship that has been on Selvaria Argentum's eye for several months now, has been detected just on the border of Hutt space. At this time, those aboard the ship are using it as a transport for illegal goods, not limited to weapons and spice. Also, with Selvaria's personal interest in the Victoria, we have sufficient data on the opposition you may expect on board; you will be briefed by the Nameless General herself before setting out.

Risk: Moderate - Suicidal
Slots: Militia: One Squad - [NPC] Marines: Two Squads
Objective: Seize control of the Primo Victoria
[Secondary] Eliminate all hostile personnel on board the Primo Victoria.

Silencing the Shattered

As with every organization, there are those that choose to forsake their oaths of loyalty. However, abandoning the Remnants without the approval of at least one of the Generals will result in the offender being marked as a Shattered, one who chose to forsake the Remnants. It is the duty of the loyal to dispose of the disloyal by any means necessary.

You will be dispatched to the planet Hoth where you will remove the Shattered encamped there; The Shattered located there posses the same armor as our own forces, only they have altered the color to an icy blue to blend in the environment easily.

Risk: Moderate
Slots: Militia: One Squad - [NPC] Nameless: No. 27
Objective: Dispose of the Shattered
Opposition: x16 S. Militia - x3 S. Marines
