This is purely academic at this point, as one of the characters I'm going to talk about I'm still writing, and the other one is still just a Padawan, but what should I do if I advance a character to Knight/Marauder and feel like my character a) doesn't fit into the specializations or is an amalgamation of all three (this being the WIP Sith) or b) has a clear specialization, i.e. Guardian, but has aspects for all the sub-specializations (Weaponmaster, Ace, and Lightsaber Instructor/Master-type person)?

For background information, my Jedi is Corellian, and therefore knows ships and flying like the back of his hand. It's just part of Corellian culture, that. That would seem to point him towards the Ace, since he already has rather decent skill in that area, but I feel his personality tends more towards the lightsaber specialist. Would it be considered overpowered to go for the lightsaber specialization since he already has a considerable degree of skill in flying (and therefore it could almost be considered having two specializations) and should he, therefore, stick to Ace?

On the subject of my Sith, he is more of a balanced character. He's slightly stronger with the Force, but is more skilled with lightsaber combat, so he's virtually even. He uses Makashi and Sith Sorcery (not the specialization, but the canon set of Force powers) to be especially effective in single-target fights, particularly against Jedi, but is much worse at dealing with multiple targets, particularly if they wield blasters. His personality suits Sith Assassin pretty well, but his playstyle is more like an unspecialized Jedi Sentinel, using both Force and swordplay as needed, skilled with both but prodigious in neither.

Again, this is academic, but I'm rather wondering what to do in future, assuming they both survive long enough. Input is appreciated.

As far as the Jedi are concerned, the specialisations are more along the line of the four temples (Battle, Sage, Lore, Diplomat) and then once specialised, the character is assumed to have a decent grasp of all the aspects. So, Battle for the Jedi sets you up for ace as well as it does blade, or indeed commanding a fleet.

I couldn't say for the Sith, though.
