As per request the GA has been rehauled into what we believe is a more efficient system. Hopefully these changes will provde an increase in interest and activity as well as give characters a more clear view of what kinds of operations they will be partaking in.

Following shortly will be additional missions that play more appropiately to the strenghts of the individual regeiments as well as call for an application of multiple regimates working in unison to thoroughly exercise their skills and abilities.

Hope everyone enjoys and we look forward to seeing the newly reformed Galactic Alliance in action!

In addition to this reformation we will also be instituting a Medical Corps, this group will not necessarly be associated with the Galactic Alliance but for anyone interested in having a character with a healing or medical skillset.

I have a question regarding the 3rd Regiment: Infiltrators, and their comparison to SpecOps.

3rd Regiment Infiltrators said:
The Infiltrators serve as the agents and spies of the Alliance, often deployed deep behind enemy lines on the most secretive missions. Constantly undermining the efforts of the Imperial war machine. Sabotaging supply depots and ammunition dumps, assassinating leadership and creating dissent amongst the citizenry are but a few duties of the Infiltrators. Due to their secretive roles, most Infiltrators carried light, concealable weaponry to remain as mobile as possible, and never stay in one place for too long. Additionally, all infiltrators have a considerable knowledge of demolitions, poisons and attract the most talented and motivated marksmen in the Galactic Alliance.
SpecOps said:
Alliance Special Operations (SpecOps) is reserved for the best and brightest GA recruits. SpeOps units traditionally consisted of two separate entities, Mission Groups and Special Ops Teams. Though due to recent developments in warfare tactics and the Alliances current operational needs the two have been condensed into a single highly effective faction of the Galactic Alliance military.

Alliance Special Operations units operate independently from the Alliance’s command structure these units, answering only to the highest echelons of the Alliance. Due to the high washout rate and intense requirements of the training regimen these units are highly capable and rarely receive or require support from other branches. Authorized to act on the interests of the Alliance without orders from higher up the chain of command many SpecOps teams develop their own operations on behalf of the Alliance without the need to obtain authorization.

SpecOps teams’ most frequent deployment is deep cover missions. Utilizing supply caches already in existence or creating their own networks in order to lay the groundwork for establishing additional rebel cells in new sectors. Special Operations teams focus primarily on bringing chaos and disorder to the opposition. Establishing a foothold within enemy territory and expanding from within, all before the opposing force has a chance to recognize and react.

They seem very much like... well... the same thing. Admittedly you've taken the time to note that the SpecOps operate 'outside' the normal hierarchy, but given the nature of the Infiltrator's work, it seems... redundant having two teams doing the same style of tasks.
Anyway, other than that I'm really looking forward to the upcoming RPs!

Cheers,

- Cassa

Uh huh.

Might i suggest minor edits be made to the infiltrators to include a more obvious role on the battlefield, and implying less cloak-and-dagger stuff? Perhaps also slot the field tech (slicer) in that group too?

SpecOps could use ranks. Something simple, maybe; two or three would do, I think. Just like an "Agent, Special Agent, Director" or something is the first thing that pops into my head. This would allow SpecOps personnel some semblance of structure while in the field and on the rare occasion they're recalled for a period of time.

Also: how do I join?

Infiltrators would rarely be on the battlefield, they would do more behind the scenes, ie: sabataging, slicing, assassinating; the only thing I really seem the directly involved on the battlefield would be if someone goes in as a sharpshooter during battle.

SpecOps ranks are the same as GA ranks, since they are still a part of the GA Military; they will be doing things more covertly and long term behind enemy lines. If you're interested, send me a PM.

So they do exactly the same things. Have exactly the same rank structure...

Right.

You're about a month and a half late to be waiting on the new GA.

This thread is old. Those updates were made a while ago.

We just had a leadership change for this sub faction, so things will be slow. Solaris got to approvals this morning, more to come in the weeks ahead!

I'd double check before complaining in the future. By the time you posted this, your character had not only been approved but had been added to the roster for six hours. I was unable to do so previous to that on account of lacking Moderator powers for this forum and the prior military FL's retirement leaving an interregnum period of several days.
I'd also avoid using "I have a life" in a manner which implies I do not when trying to justify necroing a thread two months old... while complaining about a lack of movement on the threads. It's an argument which has neither relevance nor internal consistency.
Just saying.

Unhappily, I have to inform Ikari that he has violated the game rules. He failed to cast the proper amount of mana and was not permitted to resurrect this thread, as it had not exceeded its first page yet.
