Jedi Temple Courtyard---Jedha---0400 Hours

The Jedi Sentinel Kane stood in one of the many courtyards in the Jedi temple on Jedha, he was watching the sunlight as it slowly began to creep over the horizon. He was waiting for his apprentice, the young Yssana Tynian.

The boy had been excelling at his training these past few weeks, a d Kane felt that he was ready to take the next step on his path to becomimg a Jedi Knight.

It was a slightly breezy day, the old Sentinel's robes were blowing lazily in the light warm wind as he waited for Tynian to join him.

Tynian woke up anxious for the day. His master had told him to meet at the westend courtyard instead of the usual training area where they had spent the majority of the last bunch of weeks together.
He rose, dressed in the usual apprentice gear and grabbed a quick breakfast before heading to meet Zane.
When he arrived he slowed down his pace so he wouldn’t appear too eager or nervous...
As he finally reached his master he bowed in respect, then waited for the Jedi to speak.

"Tynian, good. Did you rest well?" Kane asked after bowing back to the boy. Today was a big day, for both of them. The culmination of all the work they had been putting in during the past few weeks, Kane knew the boy was ready.

"We have quite the day ahead of us my boy, and so we had best get going." he said, his happy grin undermi ing the serious tone he had been going for.

He gestured for Tynian to follow him and set off to the crystal caves, he had not told his apprentice where they were going or what they were doing. The boy was smart and probably had an idea of what was about to happen but Kane was excited to see Tynians face when they entered the caves.

He was silent through their walk, and finally stopped in front of the entrance to the caves themselves before turning to his apprentice to feild any questions the boy might have.

As they walked Tynian had a hundred questions going through his mind... but for some reason he felt that talking would somehow distract from the importance of what he felt was going to happen.
As they neared the cave, the thought of staying silent went out the window.
“So how do I get a crystal? What kind of crystals are there? Can I have two of them? Or do I need just one if I’m creatung a staff? Do I have to fight something to get one?”
He realized that the questions were just being blurted out and with no control... so he quickly clamped his mouth shut and tried to stay calm.
All while still having an excited grin on his face.

Kane chuckled as Tymian could no longer hold in all his excited questions, the boy had honestly made it longer than he expected before he burst.

"We will go into the caves and you will clear your mind. Open yourself up to the force. Eventually a crystal -or two- will call to you. You can use just one but if you'll want to have your staff be able to separate into two single bladed sabers you will need to find a second crystal. Once you have found the crystal or crystals that call to you you will need to meditate on it for a time to bond with it and awaken the kyber, that's when it takes the color on. Don't focus on the color though, you cannot control that."

He paused after his explanation to let Tynian absorb all the information. "So Tynian, are you ready to take the next step towards becoming a Jedi Knight?" he asked his apprentice Excitedly.

Tynian nodded. “I am ready. And thank you for helping me get here.”
He faced the cave, took a deep breath calming himself with the force and followed Zane inside.

Kane was taken aback for a second by Tynian thanking him, it was a rare thing for him to hear. "Excellent!" he exclaimed as they entered the caves, "And...you're welcome Tynian. Thank you for trusting me to do it."

After they had wound their way through the glittering caverns Kane stopped. "Here should be good. We are deep in the caves now. Let go of your senses, the force will be your guide." he instructed gently.

Tynian didn’t have a clue as to what would happen. But he did know the living force. It carried him through his young life on Ossus, and it has carried him through the training here on Jedha.
He once again let the force flow through him, this time he wasn’t trying to manipulate anything, but rather focusing on the force itself... letting guide him, instruct him and move him.
After a while he raised his hand and pointed to the right side of the cave...
“There.”
Walking over to the spot he was drawn to, Tynian places his open hand on the cave’s stone wall.
The force around him intensified as his hand seem to reach into the solid rock...
As if cued he placed his other hand on the rock and it too went through the stone as if reaching through the air.

As he pulled his hands out of the stone, he slowly turned toward Zane and opened both hands. In each hand was a Kyber crystal... both still in the original clear form...

Tynian closed his eyes as the force flowed once again. This time it swept through the cave like a mighty wind, roaring and swirling around the young Ysanna.
His closed hands that held the crystals began to glow as the force moved like a deafening hurricane... then all of a sudden it stopped.
Tynian slowly opened his eyes and then his hands... the crystals were now pure white.

He looked at Zane and smiled.

In the corner of the cave an apparition appeared. Bathed in a glowing blue light the ancient ghost of a Jedi stood looking at Zane.
“You have done well with this one Master Zane. The Force is strong with him, as it is with you.” The shade shimmered slightly. “We are pleased with you. However, the charge to you is this... Your destinies are intertwined, though you will both face grevious trails in the future, stay the course. Do not give into hate. Stay the course. Do not give in... stay the course...”
The ghost-like Jedi bowed and then disappeared.

Kane had not expected the apparation, but it's words hung heavy in the air. The old Jedi was silent for a few moments, this might merit looking into.

Tynian had bonded with his crystals, Kane had not seen white ones before. "Fitting that the student of someone with an uncommonly colored crystal ended up with uncommonly colored ones of his own eh?" he chuckled. He produced a mid-sized bag from inside his robes and layed out the contents on the floor of the cavern. "There are many parts you can use for your hilt here, and schematics for a basic framework. Use whatever configuration you wish my apprentice. And take your time." he said happily.

Kane sat cross legged as he waited, they had all day after all. Then suddenly he felt a familiar pull, one he had not felt in a long time. He reached out with the force and a crystal levitated out of the ground from where the force ghost had appeard before floating over to his hand. "Interesting..." he mumbled more to himself than anyone. He closed his eyes and focused on the crystal -which began to float- eventually it took on a bright yellow hue. "Very interesting." He tucked the new crystal into his pocket for the time being. This was about Tynian building his saber, not about an old Sentinel.

Tynian waked over to where Kane had set down the materials. Looking them over he sat down and began constructing two identical lightsabers... they were very smooth with hardly any protruding parts with the activation switches indented instead of sticking out.
They would easily be able to join together to form a double bladed weapon and come apart just as easy.
Tynian worked tirelessly at building them for the rest of the day, totally focused on their construction.
As he neared the end he took the two crystals and placed one in each of the hilts. He closed his eyes and let the force envelop him as he meticulously set them and adjusted them...

After another hour or so he finally looked up at Zane and then stood.

He held the united hilts in one hand and activated them for the first time.
The snap-hiss of the first blade sounded throughout the cave, followed by the second one. Both blades shone white as Tynian began going through several swings and katas as he tested the newly formed weapon.
When he was done he turned it off and faced Zane. “What do you think Master?”

"Tynian, that is beautiful." Kane said, more impressed than he had ever been by anyone before.

His apprentice had not seen the force ghost evidently, and Kane did not want to burden the boy during this moment.

"May I?" he asked while holding his hand out slightly, wishing to have a closer look.

“By all means!” Tynian smiles as he handed the twin lightsabers to his master. He was excitedly proud to hear the Jedi’s compliment and glad to show off the newly built weapons.
“I’m thinking I will need to refine my technique when the two are apart.”

Kane delicately took the saber from Tynian, stepping back to a safe distance before activating it.

He gave the weapon a few quick twirls before deactivating it and handing it back to his apprentice. "This is fantastic Tynian. The balance phenomenal. You should be very proud of yourself." he said as he handed over the saber.

Kane smiled at his apprentice. "Yes, you will have to learn the art of two weapon fighting. It is difficult to master, but I am certain you will pick it up quickly."

Tynian hung the weapon on his belt, “So what are we doing next Master?”

Kane grinned and dropped his baggy robe, unclipping his lightsaber from his belt in the same movement. "Now, my talented apprentice." he said as he activated his saber -making sure to have the power turned down to the non-lethal training setting (which would sting like hell but not cause any real damage)- "We test out that new weapon of yours."

Tynian took his own robe off and set it aside. He then activated the twin blades and set them to non-lethal as well. He spun it around a couple of times and grinned at his master. “This will be fun!”
He immediately went on the offensive with several thrusts to the Jedi’s shoulder area...

Kane grinned as Tynian wasted no time launching an attack, The old sentinel brought his blade up to bat away the first two strikes before spinning away from the rest to put some distance between them.

He then launched his own counter attack, bringing his blade up towards his apprentice's left thigh and then around to the boy's right shoulder. "Fun indeed." he grunted as he swung.

Tynian blocked the first strike to his thigh, and then brought up the other end of the lightsaber to block the one to his shoulder, followed up by a combination feint and strike to the left side of the Jedi.
As he did, he quickly used the force like a vice to try to keep Zane’s right foot planted in place, so it would be harder to move. Once his foot was set, then Tynian unleashed a flurry of attacks and combos to try to land as many hits as possible before the Jedi broke free...

Kane tried to step back to dodge Tynian's first strike but not only did the old Jedi fall for a feint, he was also locked in place. He windmilled his arms for a moment and suddenly felt a shock in his left side where Tynian hit him. Kane let out a short gasp and batted away a couple of his apprentices follow-up strikes but was stung at least three more times before the boy stopped.

Kane deactivated his saber and bowed to the boy, "You my boy, are improving exponentially every day. I am very proud of you." he said solemnly. He hung his saber on his belt and picked up his robe, putting it back on and still smiling.

"I think you are ready for your first real mission Tynian. What do you think?" he asked his apprentice excitedly.

Tynian deactivated his weapon and hung it on his belt. "A real mission?" He tried to hide his excitement, knowing that being calm was something he really needed to work on...
So he took a deep breath as he too put on his robe,
"If you think I'm ready Master."
He followed Kane out of the cave and back to the Jedi Temple. As they walked Tynian's mind reflected on all that had transpired since he came to Jedha. He loved training and getting better, but he did feel ready for a mission. What that mission entailed filled his mind with tons of possibilities. Being looked at as a Jedi was going to be far different than just training to become one...
