Xim was not sure, but he thought that he recognized the disembodied prosthetic. it was possible that it belonged to the sickly being who was paying him to be here. The creature’s obsession with such attachments had been made quite plain. To separate so gruesomely from his precious creation was unlikely without outside influence; given the blood trail, that influence did not seem to be a positive one. Stooping over, Xim picked up the limb. It was heavier than it looked. Slinging over his shoulder, the Mandalorian cautiously hurried forward following the trail. Wherever he went, his blaster les the way. He was not about to be taken by surprise.

Making his way into a yawning laboratory that was strewn with cast aside mechanized limbs, frozen-rotted bits of organic material, hanging tubes, wires, bare rafters, conveyor belts, connections for electricity and movable apparatuses, Xim could only think of one thing: this was like a horror holo in the making. Through the shadows a bright lamp shown, a haphazard surgical suite beneath a snow-covered window. Xim paused, ducking behind what had been a large refrigerated unit, just as another pair of deformed biomechanical abominations passed. “No reward is worth this.” He whispered to no one but himself, just as a blood-curdling cry emitted along with a shower of sparks from the partially obscured work table at the end of the room. Xim could see a single booted foot and he knew, wether he wanted to admit it or not, that that was @Khlan Gonk.

Sliding his fingers over the top of the unit he now hid behind, the Mandalorian delicately jumped, using his upward
momentum to pull him upward into the tangle of dangling tubes, wires, and cords. From there, it was but a few careful steps and gaps to make it up into the rafters. He had little time to lose as he snuck his way forward to where he could overhear the conversations held over the surgical table.

Xenos, the Dominion, amalgamations of man and machine, Xim had heard rumors of weird horror stories about Arkanians. The few he had met gave him the heeby jeebies. It was something about their eyes. Still, he had not expected any of those stories to be true. Whatever hellscape this was, it was
probably best left buried. Xim’s goal was now to insure the man who was paying him got out mostly alive. He looked at the limb he had hung over his shoulder. His secondary goal, get whatever they had came for.

Inching along, Xim moved until he was almost directly over the table where Khlan was strapped and the mechanical octopus-like being was preparing to do demagolka type things. Xim glanced about. There were a lot of baddies and who knew what else lurked in the shadow. This was going to get ugly, no matter what.

Xim chanced a look down at Khlan again. He was a mess. Hopefully he would survive what was to come. If Xim did not act, the man was doomed.

With a heft, Xim shrugged the recovered
limb from his shoulder and heaved it into the air. The limb tumbled through the air downward to slam into the operating table. Xim quietly receded into the shadow, his black and blue armor blending in perfectly above the bright light that bathed Khlan and company in a bright glow.

As Trodai dragged the disabled Hunter-2, it was easy enough to follow the direction where Khlan had been taken. The noises of Khlan's screaming, the moving of machines, the half-destroyed halls from the workings of the Defects all were simple enough to follow. Still, Hunter-2 did help a little, and pointed the sith down some other halls that would lead to the same room, albeit in a different placement. One that was much more observable to the lab, and no doubt would make the Sith easily spotted by whoever waited for him. Indeed, as he was dragged closer and closer, he clicked his radio on and off a few times, to give as much of a heads up as possible to his comrade.

Hunter-1 noticed the random clicks and knew something was up. The Hunters were trained soldiers. They did not abuse their technology unless there was a good reason. Whatever it was, it alerted him that something was wrong.

"Continue your work" Hunter-1 told the mechanic. He turned and faced the rest of the room.

"Activation code 1" Hunter-1 stated in a booming robotic voice. The 20 Defects suddenly came to life and looked towards the Hunter.

"Seek and hunt, proximity 10 meters around room. No Quarter."

At the command, the 20 Defects turned and began to head towards the hallway that Trodai was approaching.

Meanwhile, the leg dropped and startled both the mechanic and Khlan. With the leg nearly hitting his head, Khlan stopped flailing and looked upwards, surprised as well. However, both beings could not find where the leg had came from.

One of the Mechanics tendrils raised upwards, pointing the blaster in the air. However, before firing it, Hunter-1 placed a hand on his shoulder.

"The glass" Hunter-1 pointed out. Indeed, a shot that hit the wrong area could flood the entire room in an avalanche of snow and ice. Instead, Hunter-1 bent at the knees, and with mechanical enhancement, leapt upwards and grabbed onto a rafter and began to pull himself up.

"You can't win Xeno..." Hunter-1 stated as he began to scan around, looking for the intruder. He became a living shadow on teh rafters as he crouched along. "Maybe you are part of the Dominion, maybe not, but either way, you are alone. I am a skilled warrior, and I have something to fight for. What do you have Xeno? Programmed loyalty? Or maybe a lust for violence?"

Below, the mechanic continued to scan upwards, trying to help Hunter-1 find the intruder. He was perfectly distracted, Khlan realized. With a smile, Khlan began to work his mechanical limb. He had learned long ago that many humans escaped binders by breaking a bone in their hands, and installed a similar mechanism in his robotic arm. With a few muscle movements, the limb would be free of what bound him to the table. And then he would take on that so called 'mechanic'. He was sure that all the secrets he desired were stored in that thing's enhanced brain.

The distraction worked. Soon enough another of the creations they had faced was clamoring up into the rafter. Obviously the thing was hunting for Xim; hunting for a Mandalorian. He smiled, there was that word again, ‘Xeno’. Xim had to wonder why these amalgamations kept pelting him with such hatred of furniture. And this Dominion; whatever government these bot-beings hated so gravely, Xim was not a part of it. He shot a wayward glance downward. That was not to say that those he was with were not. Maybe that was what was creating such a hassle on this operation.

As the manmade predator climbed into the shadows, it gradually began to fade from Xim’s targeting array. Xim’s armor creaked slightly as he adjusted his hand about his rifle. Carefully he raised it up and squeezed off a pair of bright red rounds into the he darkness where he had last seen the creation. He did not stop to see if his bolts connected. The Mandalorian was already moving, swinging on a beam as he moved with the grace of a trained martial artist to land in the dark on another set of rafters.

“My loyalty is to none but my people.” His mechanized voiced hissed through the dark before he carefully wove his way along the thin girder deeper into the room.

“But do not be fooled,” he added as he lowered himself to hang from the rafters using his hands and vambraces to suspend himself in the air seeing the defects scurrying toward a hallway and the third member of their party, @Trodai Narat-iv-Adas.

Quietly, he dropped to what turned out to be the top of a row of shelved manuals. He landed with a crouch, spinning on his palm to arc himself to the floor; his eyes scanning the rafters above for signs of movement.

The antenna on his helmet dropped forward as he sought a target overhead. “I am the violent fist of my people.” he shouted hoping to draw the creation out just as a clatter rang out as @Khlan Gonk took to the Mechanic.

And there it was, a glimmer of movement above. Xim’s HUD found a target for but a moment. That was all he needed as he manually locked on to the target. “And you shall know The Way of the Death Watch.” He hissed as he launched the seeking missile from his jetpack.

The missile arced into the darkness before impacting something in the darkness. With a crash that shook the entire room, even the entire building, the missile erupted in a massive ball of concussive power and billowing flames that illuminated the room in bright boiling orange.

With a creaking groan the ceiling overhead began to collapse; it’s structural integrity compromised by the superheated durasteel and blown out supports. The weight of the mountain did not help as snow, ice and rock began to cascade in through the rapidly expanding hole. Each chunk of frozen mountain tore the hole wider and wider as the ceiling gave way.

Xim was not sure if he had struck the monster or even if it had been caught in the fireball or the cascading avalanche. At the moment, he did not care. The Mandalorian scrambled backward as he activated his jetpack and arced backward through the air to avoid being consumed as the mountain outside shook and poured itself into the pimple of a base on it’s flesh.

Trodai observed, some part rather enjoyed seeing his old friend suffer for once, but on the other hand he was an ally. He couldn't let him be dissected. And so he acted, hearing the clicking and seeing the cyborg give his position, he grimaced and spoke "Bad move. Now you suffer." He tore his lightsaber through the cyborgs vital components making sure it suffered before death.

And as the defects approached he prepared himself in the Force.

Coiling it around his free arm he launched the remains a Hunter-2 at the first defect. He continued to try and cut a path towards Khlan, using the lightsaber to make quick work of those that would try confronting him, dissecting one horizontal before another vertically. His focus sharp and efficient. He had one objective to reach Khlan. And he would see it through.

Despite this he saw the rocket, cursing.

He was not amused with the Mandalorian having ignored his earlier warning. And so fighting he instead, coiled the Force to help release Khlan, hoping he got out before they all were buried. Even as he took another defect. He sprinted backwards as the building shook and threatened to collapse, hoping it would crush more defects. Research or not he had no intention to die under the mountain.

Roll for blaster attack: 82 Success
Saying the rocket auto succeeds on him as a result

Hunter-1 moved through the rafters, trying to find the mandalorian. Unfortunately for him, the blaster shots were more surprising than anything, and one connected directly with his chest. Despite armored and cybernetic to the nth degree, the shot was deadly, and forced the Hunter to stumble backwards and tumble off the rafter. It was only by a mechanical hand was he able to catch himself from falling completely.

He groaned in pain. That shot was near lethal. His beating heart had failed completely, and his systems could not repair such wholesale damage. This was not good. This was not -

The rocket flew. It impacted with his hanging rear end. For a brief moment, Hunter-1 regretted all his cybernetics, for as much as they tried to keep him alive as long as possible, it meant he felt every neuron of pain from the explosion. For the next moment, he was in a living hell as every cell and microfiber in his body boiled and burned and liquified. Such a wholesale organic failure was only felt by soldiers and madmen, and it was amongst the worst ways to die in the galaxy

Roll for Attacking Mechanic: 36
Started to have the side effect be getting caught under the snow, but having that partially minimalized by Trodai's force push

When the blaster shot rang out, Khlan had slipped his restraints and stumbled towards the mechanic. Without either legs. he was a stumbling amputee. Thankfully, he didn't need legs to wrestle the mechanic. After all, he didn't have legs either.

"Gimme that data you bantha fodder!" Khlan screeched as he grappled the thing. Surprised, the mechanic tried to get the gank off, its mechanic tendrils flailing about as the clawed one tried to grab the gank's body. The needle flahsed and jabbed itslef into Khlan's side. Numbness started to spread. However, what Khlan lacked in strength, he made up for in tenacity and drive. After all, this being was his answer. It had everything he needed. All that data would make him a rich...

The missile exploded. Both Khlan and the Mechanic stopped and looked up in horror as an avalanche of snow and ice came crashing in. Khlan however refused to give up his prize and hung onto the mechanic. The mechanic however knew enough to preserve its own life. The clawed tendril reached out and grabbed the operating table, and with a yank, placed it over himself and the gank. All the tendrils strained to hold the table up under the crushing weight of snow and ice.

Just as suddenly, Khlan and the mechanic flew backwards, and crashed into a wall. The force blast from Trodai had done its effect.

"Oh kriff..." Khlan stated as the avalanche of snow and ice began to fill the lab.

"Situation not optimal. Need to find new quarters."

"Ya no kriff you ding-dong!" Khlan shouted. A new surge of energy found him latching again onto the mechanic's backside.

"Now move, or we both die!"

The mechanic seemed to agree with this assessment. Using its tendrils and arms, it dragged itself and Khlan away from the filling snow. Wherever they would go, Khlan didn't know, but he figured that this mechanic was his best choice for survival.

Roll for number of defects destroyed: 3
Additional Defects destroyed by avalanche: 17

Surprisingly, the Defects seemed to adapt to the lightsaber Trodai wielded. When two of their numbers dispatched, the others began to give the Sith a wide berth as they opened fire with blasters. Their small bodies made them agile things, and while they had to switch between firing and moving, there was enough of them to keep the pressure on.

When the avalanche started, the defects gave up the chase. Their protocols had shifted. They were built for defense, and their mechanic was in trouble. It needed to be saved. As one, the remaining Defects turned and began to make their way towards where the mechanic was last, only to be completely crushed.

The fact that the hunter did not give chase or shoot back was confirmation enough in the chaotic moment for the Mandalorian to be comfortable enough that he had found his mark. He had bigger issues to deal with now; at least the shooting had stopped. Coming to land amongst the rafters at the far corner of the room, Xim felt the thunderous rumble of the tumbling snow, ice and rock as it tore into the cavernous room. It shook the entire room, rattling the entire structure as it brought forth cascades of dust from long undisturbed rafters. Soon enough the recently exposed, long lost laboratory would be swept away and destroyed.

Xim’s eyes swept the rapidly deconstructing room. There was rapidly unfolding cold destruction everywhere. He had little hope for the others. So much for his payday. Then he spotted it, the amalgamated spider-king that had been operating on @Khlan Gonk , his benefactor in this poorly executed little op. Riding or perhaps strapped atop it like a bantha-herder of yore was Khlan, or what was left of him. Xim could not help but scoff aloud. The weaselly being was just as full of surprises as the Sith psycho they had brought with them.

The Mandalorian was not sure that he could take and make the shot from his vibrating position above through the cacophony of chaos and hit the Mechanic and not Khlan; yet he was duty-bound to try to do something. The reputation of his people demanded it. A tracking missile would probably not due in this situation either.

With a heavy sigh, Xim leaned out from his perch and let go. He plummeted downward toward the rapidly drifting and roiling snow. The rapidly cooling air ripped by his armored body. In the last moment before he would have crashed into the churning snow, the man activated his jetpack and burst forward, even and inches above the boil of snow and debris. His focus and destination: Khlan and the Mechanic. No biomechanical demon would come between he and his prize.

With a mighty crash, the Mandalorian collided quite intentionally with the pair of legless wonders as they sought to outrun the advancing crush of winter. All three of them were set into a somersaulting tangle of limbs, as Xim cut power to his pack and began to drive armored punches into whatever fleshy bits of the Mechanic that he could find. All the while the shaking of the structure continued to increase and the broiling press of the intruding avalanche pressed forward until it began To cover the brawling group.

As the building started collapsing in on them, Trodai was not sticking around. Sensing where Khlan was he raced to catch up, the Force helping his advance as he attempted to dodge falling debris, dust and snow. Along the way he struck at whatever Defect was left in the way, as he tried catching up eventually coming upon them.

He used his lightsaber and deflected several blaster bolts back as the agile cyborgs tried to reposition. While others he cut down, they had adapted it was true but not enough to truly be a problem.

OOC: Actions Taken - Defects Destroyed
D20 Roll: 12

He continued making his way running at speed, trying to get ahead of the collapse. On the way, he managed to kill at least a dozen as his skill shone through despite the numbers against him and with a little begrudgingly help from the Mandalorian. Even if he had practically destroyed the very structure itself. When upon them he saw how they were about to be buried and so used a Pull to get try getting them out.

"ERROR: primary escape route unavailable. Recalculating..." The Mechanic stated, following with a "ERROR: Secondary escape route unavailable. Recalculating..."

"Stop calculating and just get me..." Khlan started to shout over the commotion and noise. He didn't get a chance to finish his sentence, as he and the Mechanic connected with the armored individual of Xim. The trio crashed and rolled over and over. Khlan, disoriented and more panicked than anything, held onto the Mechanic for dear life, while the monster tried to simultaneously fend off the Mandalorian and stabilize its body. It didn't do either very well, as its artificial enhanced brain could not fire enough synapses to keep track of the situation.

Khlan felt the pull before he actually felt the pull. The Force seemed to manifest around the Gank again, in a similiar way that it did before when he and the mechanic were shoved. Still unable to do anything else, and still unwilling to give up his prize, Khlan clutched on tighter than a newborn baby gundark on its momma. The three were suddenly pulled from the snow pile and collapsed near Trodai.

"About time! This is why I brought the both of you" Khlan shouted as shook his head to rid the snow built on his body. The Mechanic shook itself as well as it tried to reorient itself.

"ERROR: Combat will not ensure survival of revolution." The Mechanic stated in its monotone synthesized voice. "SOLUTION: Temporary truce proposed. Accept?"

The Rumbling of the ice pursuing the group gave very little opportunity for the talk to continue. Without waiting for an answer, the Mechanic began to move down the hallway, past the dead body of Hunter-2, and towards the stairwell. Khlan was almost screaming the entire way.

At the stairwell, the group would find the age-worn stairs completely destroyed from falling debris and the violent shaking of the lab. The Mechanic stopped and looked downwards. The route the group used to get here was about three flights down, and the stairs would go 2 further more to storage facilities and . A misplaced fall could spell instant death, whether they be Sith, Mandalorian, or Biomechanical.

The approaching avalanche behind them made Khlan beat the Mechanic once over the head to move forward. Pausing and talking was not an option. Calculating the best route, the Mechanic's clawed tendril reached out, slammed into a wall, and began to pull itself downwards.

Attempt to Move to proper floor safely
Dice Result: 12/20

Thankfully, the makers of the Mechanic seemed to know what they had done, for the living torso with tendrils hefted itself downwards with an agility that belied its appearance. Even with Khlan hanging for dear life, the thing managed itself well.

A well-placed shot would not take any words, but before Xim could even draw his blaster the demonic machination was off again with his benefactor. Xim growled beneath his breath, “No reward is worth this.” He was feeling extra agitated having been yanked from the snow by the unseen hand of the witchcraft wielding muscle-bound red-skin. If given the chance, he might have to see that the Sith had an unfortunate accident on the way off world.

With a snarl, Xim pushed himself up, his knees aching against the exertion and hurried after the kidnapper and his paycheck. Almost as suddenly, he should have come to a stop. He would have too had he not been charging ahead at full tilt. The floor vanished beneath him in the decimated lack of stairwell and the Mandalorian began to plummet downward

OOC: D20 Roll to fall “safely”
RESULT: 9 - Partial Success

Xim spread his arms and legs instinctively in the air as he fell attempting to use the very air about him to slow his fall. At the same time, he activated his jetpack once again. The pack sputtered to life with a whoosh of fuel and gravity-defying fire before coughing and going cold. Xim’s eyebrows shot up. “Oh not good!” He called out to no one in particular as the roar of the crushing avalanche followed then down the chute crushing all in it’s path.

The boost was enough to slow the Mandalorian’s decent that he landed, albeit hard. Xim tumbled and rolled forward, groaning as his momentum brought him to a stop. What a terrible time to run out of fuel. He had another fuel pack; of course it was back at the speeder. Quickly and painfully, Xim picked himself up. His body ached, his joints protested, but his mind carried the day. This was no time to be lying down on the job. Seeing the legless biomechanical abomination and @Khlan Gonk just ahead, Cim seized his opportunity and yanked his blaster pistol from it’s holster and sent three bolts flying toward the enemy. There would be no peace treaty in this twilight hour Only to be double-crossed when the moment was desirable. They would make it out the way they made it in, by the skill of the Mandalorian. Whatever this revolution was, it died today, here, now.

major fail, success, success

The first shot was an epic failure. Not that it went wide or high, but even for a decent marksman hitting a moving target could be a challenge. His first shout would have been true, had Khlan’s flopping body not gotten in the way! The second and third however found their mark as they buried into the fleeing Mechanic.

Trodai looked seeing he was successful and yet they still needed to keep moving, and so he did. He didn't particularly care how the Mandalorian thought of him even if he could feel it in the Force. Instead they had other concerns, namely the collapse of the building and avalanche thanks to the Mandalorian foolishness. Or so he thought.

He briefly looked down the hole as the avalanche was coming not too far behind them. He remembered the way he had come, down there. Three flights down, yet the stairs looked busted. And so instead he used his lightsaber to jump, dig in the wall and slide down at least for the first floor. He jumped to get down quicker, using the Force via Telekinesis to slow his descent and essentially glide as he fell to try direct himself somewhat to solid ground.

Actions - D20 Roll for Telekinesis to 'glide' safely to the solid ground
D20: 6 Partial Success

Trodai managed it but it was quite strenuous and the landing was rough. He landed with a thud, twisting a ankle. That was going to be a problem, but he could handle it. At the moment he found a twisted ankle was the least of his concerns. He arrived in time to see the foolish Mandalorian shooting at Khlan and the Biomechanic. He wasn't amused at least with him shooting someone he considered useful.

"Watch what you shoot at!" he shouted as they continued pursuit. He was very tempted to just leave the Mandalorian behind for causing all of it.

"Come on, move, move mo..."

Khlan shrieked in pain as the blaster shot squared itself in his lower back. Robes sizzled as Khlan lost his grip and fell onto the floor. The pain was strong. Ironicly, it was the most painful part of the day. At least when the mechanic was cutting off his legs, the cyborg monster gave him enough antiseptic to keep him from blacking out.

"I'm frigging paying you, you moron!" Khlan screeched as he tried to pick himself up. The one advantage of his cybernetic arm was that it didn't get tired, only drained. And Khlan had charged it before entering the lab.

He was greeted with the sight of the Mechanic motionless, save the tendrils that spurted randomly. Its own system gave out from the two follow up shots. Whether or not the memories was still intact was unclear.

Khlan gritted his teeth as he crawled towards the body and began to unscrew and cut its biological/mechanical head off. At least the thing was helping him get out. Now he'd have to lug the thing with him. He was NOT coming out of this scenario empty handed.

The building rumbled, on the verge of collapsing. Khlan looked back at the others.

"Pick me up you lousy idiots! Don't you kriffing leave me behind with the prize in hand!"

Up ahead, there was a clear shot to the halls that led to the outside. It would be a simple matter of getting out, provided someone could pick Khlan up and drag him forward, start any of the vehicles and get enough distance from the lab and avalanche before anyone got buried.

Xim winced as the first round impacted @Khlan Gonk ’s back. That had to hurt. The fsct that the second two rounds found their mark was of little consolation it seemed as the deformed cyborg toppled and Khlan screamed again. Hobbling forward, Xim would have shot a seething glare at @Trodai Narat-iv-Adas had it been worth anything; of all the people telling him to learn how to shoot the berserk beast was not one to talk he thought.

Still, Khlan was paying him; so Xim scooped up what was left of his benefactor and haphazardly cradled him beneath his armored arm and continued their flight from the crashing avalanche that had cascaded down the shaft and was actively devouring the lab in pursuit of them. A redoubt in their path would be the end of them. Thankfully it was a straight shot into the frigid hangar with the speeder and rumbling long dead and frozen hover-transports. The same hangar they had come in. The same speeder Xim’s speeder bike was parked in. The same hangar someone had insisted on sealing them into.

Running across the dark floor, Xim stumbled only once, having tripped over the remains of one of the station’s previous tenants, before he made it to the familiar cool outline of his bike. Flopping what was left of Khlan over the saddle bags, Xim stretched a bungee cord across him. It was anything but secure but it would have to do for now. Xim swung a leg over the saddle and with a kick the bike roared to life in the icy hangar.

OOC: d100 roll to shoot at the doors and make an escape
RESULTS: 18-moderate failure

Spinning the bike to face the powerless blast doors, Xim activated the light blaster cannon mounted in the front fins of his speeder. The blasts lit up the blast doors with fiery red illumination as the room shook with reverberations from the cannon. The door stood firm, designed for such an assault from inside or out. What did not hold firm was the worn durasteel plates ceiling panels which began to cascade in an edges rain of steel and rust. “Kriff!” Xim swore as he jerked the bike about in a tight loop looking for an alternative escape route as the avalanche began to enter the room in all of it’s destructive glory.

Trodai thankfully was able to keep up with the pair, keeping pace using the Force to speed his legs, albeit trying to be careful to avoid slipping at such speed. Which was no easy task, the momentum threatening to send him tumbling. He saw as Xim, a man he thought a fool scooped up Khlan who held what they came for. Or so he assumed.

Seeing the bikes, he ran and stopped. Getting on the one he had left alongside the others when they had arrived. Starting it up he headed straight for the hangar door, seeing as Xim failed to penetrate it and metal fell. Intervening himself, he focused and attempted to use Telekinesis to rip the door open, big enough that they could fit. One at a time. Although time was limited with the avalanche approaching.

Ripping and crunching, he found he had a gift for this particular technique. The door crunching, twisting and making noise as it was ripped open, large enough for one speeder. And just in time too he hoped.

He called out as he went for the hole, seeing the cascade and so zipped and weaved to avoid it as the avalanche entered.

"Now! While you can, through the hole!"

Swooping through and pressing the pedals, he sped up hoping he made it through in time. And Khlan who held the prize...it would be a wasted effort otherwise.

Being carried so unceremoniously and rudly towards safety, Khlan could've complained. However, the adrenaline, and the prize in his hands, made Khlan be quite compliant in the given situation. After all, he was legless and the Mando had done what he commanded. Beggers could not be choosers in times of crisis.

The hole created by his bodyguard was large enough for the group to fit through on a speeder. Seeing this, Khlan began to bounce up and down on the speeder that he hung on with his body while clutching his prize.

"Move move move move!" Khlan shrieked over and over, helplessly depending on the others to save his hide.
