Welcome to the Red Keep! This is my workshop, where I'll be posting all sorts of nonsense and what-have-you's.
Anyone is welcome to post here, whether it be for criticism or otherwise! Make yourself comfortable... maybe not too comfortable.

APPEARANCE

The slightest glance in Tyra's general direction is enough to tell you a whole story: he is a wretched and ruined creature. Tainted and even crippled by the volatile energies of the dark side, energies that he has dedicated his life to mastering, this Taz'goreii is a horrid sight to look upon, day or night, enemy or ally. His skin is a dry green hue, cracked from the decades that he has born witness to; his beard grows long and gangly, greasy, greying; his eyes are a deep red, seeming to glow in any lighting they find themselves in, and they carry the weight of the horrors he has seen and committed throughout his lifespan. All of this is a testament to the trials and tribulations that he has endured, making the sorcerer seem as ancient as the magic he practices. His teeth and tusks are extensively rotted and yellowed, some of his front chompers missing entirely.

Due to years of study and practice of the dark side and its many applications, as well as being exposed to its taint for quite some time, Tyra has been twisted by its corrupting energy. He has developed a hunch that is extremely pronounced, a steeple of his appearance. Though he can stand at an extended height whenever he desires(with great effort) he will never again reach his full height without physical alterations to his form.

Despite having been exiled by his clan for his blasphemous and horrid actions, Tyra continues to wear his long and sometimes disheveled hair in a roughly-gathered braid. Stained and defiled robes cover his broken body from head to toe, and he is rarely if ever seen without his hood gathered over his head. On his back he carries the burden of several twisted and razor sharp bones, remnants of a creature long-extinct on his home world of Rattatak. At the bases of these spires are wrapped an assortment of prayer beads and other relics of the ancient past; upon their pointed edges, the skulls of long-dead Taz'goreii. Around his neck is an even larger set of beads, designed to reflect the passing of the history of the Taz'goreii, with every bead representing a different era, from their conceptual birth to the present. He adds onto this necklace whenever he can find the time to do so. On the rare occasion that he is seen out of his disgustingly unclean robes, Tyra reveals the numerous tattoos and markings that stretch across his decaying exterior, written in Taz'gor, the language of his people.

STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES

"Drink, my brothers and sisters. Drink! The fount shall give you the strength, no, the power, to at last take this world for our people! The bald ones shall learn to fear our names for ages to come! All of this is the will of Taz'goroth, his gift to us his life's blood. In return we shall wage war upon our enemies, His enemies! Plunder and glory shall be your reward! Take the gift, and earn His gratitude for all of eternity!"
- Tyra'Galarach, offering the virulent "Blood of Taz'goroth" from the Fount of the Warbringer to his clan, moments before they massacred each other in an uncontrolled fit of rage.

BIOGRAPHY

ORIGIN

War: it permeates every aspect of Taz'goreii society, and some among them believe that it is in their nature to shed the blood of their enemies, said enemies being other species(namely the Rattataki) or even with one another. It is in the very essence of their being, especially within the rural clans. Tyra's clan was of no exception to this golden rule. The Galarach clan thrived on conflict, being one of the most numerous clans among the scant Taz'goreii communities left on Rattatak.

Fantasy-War-Scene1-600x375.jpg
Gala'rand, a city of tents and hovels and crags which served as the clans capital, sat beneath a behemoth of a mountain which the Galarach dubbed "Taz'goroth's Spire." The clansfolk, as well as all Taz'goreii that knew of it, feared the Spire, for legend said that Taz'goroth himself frequented the bowels of the ancient and hollow promontory, and it was forbidden to enter its caverns or scale its cliffs. Within their walled "city", the Galarach were nigh impossible to subjugate, and were the dominant force in their respective region for quite some time. That is, until the "bald ones", the local Rattataki, began to acquisition technology from offplanet.

Now putting up a futile resistance against blasters and other advanced weaponry, the Galarach were slowly being pushed back after a long and grueling campaign. After their formal surrender, they were no longer the feared elite that they thought it was their destiny to become. For decades, they fell into a state of decline and decay, their faith in the almighty Taz'goroth faltering. It was during this tumultuous period of descent that Tyra was born, the child of Tuk and Kyran'Galarach, Gala'rand's High Shaman(the "shamans" were merely a priesthood with no profound or divine powers, dedicated to worshiping and spreading the word of Taz'goroth).

Though groomed from birth to replace his father as High Shaman, Tyra yearned for vengeance against the bald ones and to become the chieftain of their clan. One day, he attempted to incite dissent within the clan by organizing a raid into the Rattataki's territory, seeking to prove himself in righteous battle. This was unacceptable under the current circumstances, as the Galarach were still reeling from the loss of their recently deceased chieftain, and only he, with the consultation of the High Shaman, may declare when war shall be waged. With no chieftain to decide upon consequences, and the clan still in the process of choosing a successor, the imposing of punishment fell to none other than Tyra's father, Kyran.

In order to instill fear into the hearts of his fellow clansfolk, and, secretly, to get a once-in-a-lifetime account of what lay within the confines of its rocky face, the High Shaman commanded Tyra to enter the forbidden halls of Taz'goroth's Spire, where he would remain for a moon's turn in exile, and on a "pilgrimage of self-reflection." The young and bold Tyra had no choice in the matter; he would fulfill this quest of redemption, or die. Despite the fear that consumed his heart, Tyra'Galarach entered the ancient carved caverns of the Spire with a noble bearing that his clan would associate with him for years to come.

Unknown to him at the time, within the unremembered corridors of Taz'goroth's Spire, Tyra would find his destiny.

THE CAVERNS OF MADNESS

It was dark, for a long, long time. The all-consuming, lightless twilight seemed to go on for eternity. Tyra felt his way along the wall, his breath caught in his throat. He did not know how long he wandered in the never-ending blackness; long enough to go mad for a time. But he continued on, though to this day he could not say why. Perhaps it was the desire to prove his worth to the clan, to become the most powerful chieftain in history. That's what he told himself, before he lost his mind to the dark. The reality of it was, in his madness, he forgot the true purpose of his being there in the cavernous deeps of the Spire; he merely continued on, forgetting who he was, why he was there. All that he was, all that he aspired to be, was left at the entrance to the mountain; the entrance to his doom.

Right before the now-insane Taz'goreii succumbed to starvation and loneliness, however, he heard something, and yes, saw something that caused his heart to flutter with hope: music. The beautiful ripples of a masterpiece played before his eyes, rung in his ears. He was deep within the massive mountain, deeper than he ever would've thought it went. In truth, he was now beneath the mount, and would be drowning in earth if not for the endless caverns. As he followed the sight and sound of the beautiful tune, Tyra'Galarach took every step with newfound strength. Something was filling his being with a power beyond his imagining... and it was calling to him.

In the deepest part of the maze, Tyra stumbled upon a vast open space, and the music there played so loudly that he thought he would go deaf. Suddenly, however, it stopped, and through the dissipating ripples of its noise, he could see them: forgotten and towering monoliths, almost reaching the ceiling in their height. Upon them was the language of his people, which he had long since forgotten in his blind stupor. Scattered all around were the bones of ancient and extinct creatures, once hunted and even tamed by his people; he did not recognize them. The skulls of Rattataki and Taz'goreii alike were strewn about, as well, but he did not so much as glance at these. His eyes were glued to something in the center of the monoliths.

A throne carved from the very stone of the mountain was situated beside a pool of a viscous, emerald liquid, on the verge of boiling, despite the chill of the chamber. Upon the throne was the remains of a long-dead humanoid, though Tyra could not recognize their origin. The skeleton was largely still intact, and in its lap was a curious instrument, one completely alien to Tyra and most Taz'goreii, for that matter. Hesitantly, the broken Tyra took the artifact, not knowing the power he needed to harness in order to gain access to it. Under the holocron lay a single scroll, sealed in a red wax. Due to his current disposition, Tyra was about to ignore the scroll and its contents... but the parchment called to him, and it was because of the familiar pulse of music within his mind that caused him to frantically open it.

AN ANCIENT CURSE

He deftly navigated the unfamiliar lettering of the scroll, and despite not understanding an inkling of any of it, like a tidal wave of unprecedented proportions, Tyra'Galarach was overwhelmed with remembrance, memories flooding his fragile mind. Flashbacks of his home and his clan, of his life and his actions, of his punishment and abandonment. The memory of his clan's "betrayal" filled him with emotions that he had not felt in days, weeks, perhaps even months: anger, hatred, and a new desire revenge. Though his mind remained somewhat scattered, Tyra was reborn in the darkness of the Spire... and he would have his vengeance.

wow-warcraft-harbingers-animated-short-1-guldan.png
Upon further inspection of the various scriptures around the chamber, the Taz'goreii learned that the deceased being that had been waiting for him in the throne room was originally a Sith Sorcerer and alchemist, dubbed Darth Valcrin. Valcrin, hundreds of years ago, had carved into the monoliths an explanation of his final experiment for anyone with the ability to find him and his work. The ancient Sith Lord had delicately crafted an arcane spell that he imbued into the scroll which Tyra had opened. This spell was designed to restore the sanity(somewhat) of its reader, as well as restore Valcrin to semi-consciousness within the unfortunate victim who found the scroll. Ingrained deep in Tyra's mind, was the Sith Lord that had made his home here, deep within the Spire. Valcrin could not control Tyra or his actions, but his voice, his conscious thoughts, would forever remain with his vessel.

With Darth Valcrin came his innate relationship to the dark side, filling the already Force-sensitive Tyra with an even more intrinsic connection with the Force. Despite this incredibly beneficial boon, Tyra was still untrained and ultimately unable to harness many of the powers that had been bestowed upon him.

Tyra spent the next few months communing with the spirit of Valcrin, trapped within his body, and studying the various scriptures of knowledge that he left behind, sustained by little else but the very essence of the dark side itself. He discovered the origin and purpose of the pool of thick green liquid that made its home next to Valcrin's throne: it was also one of his final experiments, made in the hope that it would cause the local Taz'goreii(of Tyra's own Galarach clan) to bind them into his servitude. The only thing it did was make them fly into a frenzy of bloodlust; those who did not kill each other quickly lost their minds.

Tyra took great interest in this alchemical concoction, even going so far as to drink some himself. With the aid of the deceased Valcrin, the possessed Tyra survived the ordeal, but the volatile liquid would forever leave its mark on him, his brown eyes now a deep and hateful red.

THE BLOOD OF TAZ'GOROTH

It was not long after this incident that Tyra decided it was time to exact his vengeance upon his father and his clan. With an insidious plan to lure the unsuspecting Taz'goreii into the mountain, the twisted being emerged at long last from the entrance to the Spire. Bearing with him "artifacts" that he etched himself, Tyra professed to his people that he had been blessed with a divine revelation: Taz'goroth had spoken to him. He had given to the Galarach clan the means of their victory, and it was "prophesied" that they would come to His mortal abode in order to receive this gift.

Kyran, Tyra's father, had been long since proclaimed chieftain, and he was incredibly concerned over the validity of his son's story. He called the High Shaman, a position also filled relatively soon after his own ascension to the position of chieftain, to his side in order to discern the tale's authenticity. After a long and, in the end, futile analysis, Tyra climbed the steps of the chieftain's raised platform, and used the Force to drain the life from the High Shaman directly in front of the entire clan.

Instead of doing what they ought to have done, the clan was in awe of the power that Tyra had displayed. Most bowed to him as they would to a god, declaring him "Taz'goroth's Chosen", and followed him blindly and fanatically into the mountain. Just as Tyra had done almost a year before, they doomed themselves upon crossing the threshold into the abyss.

latest

With torches in hand(a luxury that Tyra had not been given) the mass of Taz'goreii made their way to the center of the great Spire, gathering about the ancient monolithic circle. Tyra had built with his own two hands a fount, where the "Blood" was now located. He himself offered them the cup that would seal their fates.

Suffice enough to say: it was a bloodbath. Not a one of those that entered the mountain survived, save for Tyra, survived. This pleased him immensely. Not long after the infamous Scourge of the Galarach,
