Recruiting men to fight and die for the Republic war effort... that was what he was reduced to.

It hurt, almost physically, that he was supporting a war in such a way but he refused to accept that he had buried his will, his thoughts and feelings, deep down inside himself to push for the Republic to go to war... only for them to lose. That would be unacceptable in every way.

The idea that the Republic would simply lose?

It would drive the Galaxy crazy and he refused to accept that.

So here he was, with Primula Peyvand, on his home planet of Corulag to recruit young men and women for the war effort. He sighed as he sat in the back of the landspeeder with the other senator, being taken to a small music concert where they would be speaking to the crowd.

Fun!

Primula Peyvand was actually looking forward to her job today. Although usually reserved for people of the GAR recruiters office to accomplish, due to not the strongest of volunteers for the war effort with the hutts, she and senator Pax were here to do their best to get some more personnel for the military arm of the republic.

While they were just going to be making a quick speech at a music concert, she was hoping they would be well recieved. At least she might be, although the majority or Corulag probably saw her planet as nothing but a bunch redneck farmers. Actually the more she thought about it the more she realized that having the other senator there might add some credibility here.

She smiled nervously at him as the speeder finally came to a half behind the stage and the sounds of the amplifiers caused the mirrors and windows of the speeder to shake slightly. She rolled her eyes, never being one for this sort of scene herself, and opened her door and got out, turning to yell at the other senator as she did so.

Well let's hope they're in a good mood to hear about incentives for signing away four years of their life!

Well there was an argument they were definitely not going to be using!

Reminding these people that they were going to be signing away their lives was not something that Numenius really wanted to do. It was a hard enough sell to get people to join the infantry as it was these days. But, he supposed, they were just going to have to do their best here weren't they?

"I'm sure we'll think of something!"

Hopefully.

Thankfully, it seemed that the crowd were in a very good mood from the last band or whatever else had just happened. Because when they stepped up onto the stage, there was a roar of approval that was, at least partially, fuelled by the amount of alcohol and the current mood. Numenius didn't care - he was still set to abuse the ever loving heck out of that goodwill.

Time to go to work!

We have two rounds to roll 10 or higher using d6 dice to win.

Alright, it was time to go to work then. As she took to the stage she did her best to smile and mid to the crowd, but it was fairly obvious that she was not well received. Before she could even introduce herself the entire front three rows began booing her.

Slightly off put by this she only managed to open her mouth for a brief moment before any words she might have spoken were cut off by now larger amounts of booing from the crowd. She rolled her eyes and tried to wait it out, but it seemed like they weren't relenting until she gave up the idea of interrupting their music concert.

Alright so it seemed that Primula wasn't as well received as they would have liked but that was fine - they could still pull this back. Numenius didn't open his mouth to speak like Primula. Instead, he moved up to the microphone that had been used by the musicians before them. Pointing at it, he asked the sound tech if they could turn it on wordlessly. Once they had turned it on, he smiled at them in thanks.

Alright.

Time to spread the good word.

"SHUT THE HELL UP."

Surprisingly enough, shouting at them wasn't something they had expected of their senator and that meant they did, surprisingly, shut the hell up. At least enough that the two senators could now be heard.

"You should be ashamed of yourselves. You came here to have a good time, to have a great day." he looked around, "Now I can respect and understand that. What I cannot accept, what I cannot abide, is that you now stand there and hurl abuse at people who have only ever tried to help you and yours! Is this the kind of support our fighting men and women in Cartel space have to look forward to when they return?"

He shook his head even as he noticed that shaming them was actually having an effect. Roughly half of the crowd seemed to be responding to it. All they needed to do now was have Primula get the others on board with something more enticing than shame.

We have one round remaining to get 5 more!

At least senator Pax was here to get them to rightly get them in order. While they weren't booing her at least anymore, the crowd seemed split still. Well she figured if she was going to get to talking now would probably be the best time as the crowd was now at least letting her return to the microphone and prepare to make her points again. This time however she decided to forego the pleasantries and just get right to the honey of the speech.

Were here to offer sign up bonuses for any man, woman, and other that sign up for a select group of jobs within the GAR. This is a credit bonus, and depending on which job you specifically choose can get you more credits. I do believe the current highest one being offered are combat medics.

She hasn't said it for no reason. Knowing the demographic of the crowd she knew many of them were university student dropouts, but being where they were, the majority of the schools were offering medical degrees, so she decided to take the chance and see if a few would want to put their otherwise untapped knowledge to better uses. She hoped so at least.

The senator was working the crowd well.

They reacted well to being offered different options - the option of being a field medic apparently appealed to some. He didn't know why because that job role sounded absolutely terrifying if he was honest with himself. But it didn't matter. What mattered was that the crowd was eating it up.

"If you join the Republic as a combat marine, you will receive a salary higher than that of a teacher here on Corulag!" he relayed to the crowd, "If you join as a combat medic, you will receive a salary of the same level and be trained in medical treatment so that when you end your service you will be registered as a qualified nurse - and as a qualified doctor if you work enough hours and cases at field hospitals."

That... seemed to do it to be honest.

A lot of the crowd cheered and more than a few broke away from the crowd to move over to the people they'd brought from the military who had sign ups ready to go. He waved to the crowd and stepped off with Primula. He smiled as they climbed back into the speeder,

"I believe we have done great work."
